Thank the army, not the jungle, for the

Following the news of a dramatic rescue of four children lost in the Amazon jungle, Colombia's far-left president, Gustavo Petro, praised the children who survived in that fearsome wilderness for 40 days as "children of the jungle." "The jungle saved them" Petro said. "They are children of the jungle, and now they are also children of Colombia. "Children of the jungle"? That's like calling children who survived a nuclear meltdown "children of the reactor" or kids who survived under earthquake rubble "children of the temblor." Does anyone call champion surfer Bethany Hamilton, who was injured in a shark attack as a young girl a "child of the shark"?

Comments:

I'd love to have a chance to have lunch with Ms. Showalter. She strikes me as a very smart woman, and I think I'd enjoy a chance to "visit" with her for a bit.

The kids were part of an indigenous group and apparently knew how to survive in the jungle.

Re #1, if you read the article, they lived in a city of 500,000 and their first names, and mother's first name indicate Christian upbringing for at least two generations. Perhaps had indigenous ancestors, but probably never actually lived in the jungle. Perhaps some limited knowledge, but not like they lived in grass huts in the jungle.

FTA: “That was the whole problem with the lefty narratives’ surrounding this jungle rescue… They're disaster survivors, and yes, it was they, not the jungle, whose survival actions brought forth their heroism.’” No, not they nor the jungle, but God, The Almighty. He cares for His Children … [Trust Him, read John’s Gospel, if you have any doubt, learn of Jehovah-shammah. The LORD is there.] TBIYTC

This amazing 13-year-old girl keeps herself, and her 9, 7 and 1 year-old siblings, alive in a jungle wilderness for 40 days (rather Biblical, just sayin'), and Columbia's sick communist "President" claims the credit for their survival on the mercy of the jungle respecting the indigenous people's synergistic wisdom. Puleeze! As #2 points out, the young girl has indigenous heritage but is at least a third generation city dweller. However, the truth doesn't fit the narrative so the communists ignore the courage, stamina and ingenuity of this young girl who kept herself and siblings alive against the odds in that jungle. They ignore the army, along with the assistance of real, local indigenous people who rescued the children. Instead of the President lauding this young girl and celebrating her incredible story of survival against the odds, he callously uses her ordeal to sell the dangerous communist Gaia mythology of a benign natural world. Of all the crazy commie ideologies, a nurturing Mother Nature is the most insane. Evil, evil, evil. The evil in this story compounds upon itself in layers. God bless this young girl and her siblings. It sounds like the children have very loving grandparents that will raise them well. They tragically lost their daughter, and these four young children lost their mother. No father was mentioned in the story, even though the youngest in only one-year-old. These children have a very long recovery. I pray for them. Holy Mother Mary, wrap your mantle of protection around them. Amen. God bless these motherless children.

Over-thinking going on here. God's creation of every region on earth provides food, water and shelter along with a variety of predators, hazards and traps. Common sense and a survival attitude makes the difference. The Jungle, just like the Alaskan wilderness or the Serengeti cares little about what lives and what dies within it. The strong survive. No matter where the 13-year-old girl lived previously, she did an incredible job of keeping the group alive and relatively safe. As for the Colombian president, leftists are morons the world over.

Those conservatives rightly outraged at the Trump indictment keep comparing his treatment to that given to Hillary, Biden, and Pence, each of whom admitted to violating national security laws. That’s the wrong argument because Trump is not similarly situated to those lawbreakers. Instead, because he was president when he took possession of the documents, Trump cannot be guilty of the crimes with which he’s charged. It starts with the Constitution, which created three equal branches of government: The legislative branch (Art. I), the executive (presidential) branch (Art. II), and the judiciary (Art. III). As part of his authority as the nation’s chief executive

Recently much has been said and written about gas stoves causing childhood asthma, justifying politicians moving to ban residential gas stoves. We reviewed the epidemiology studies used to support the ban in a recently published study. We demonstrated that the studies were unreliable and there is no basis for the claims made. This essay sums up our findings. NO2 and asthma [snip] Allergens are the basic issue in asthma. Allergens are carbon-based and are mostly protein substances. For example, pollen and plant parts; biological fragments shed from furry animals, rodents, cockroaches, dust mites; and fungal detritus can cause allergenic asthma reactions.

The experts at the Tax Foundation fret that the current debate about extending the debt ceiling has lost track of the fact that Social Security is a major contributor to our growing deficit and debt crisis. They may be right about the fiscal ADHD on Capitol Hill, however, let’s make sure we are keeping track of the right discussion. It is true that both the growing deficit and long-term stability of Social Security are valid concerns that should draw the attention of Americans. These issues deserve the attention of all voters -- just not in the same sentence.

That’s off 19% from two weeks earlier on May 18, when the stock was trading at $160.96 on the eve of the crisis.

Something is happening right now that is scaring the Obama out of the fascist far left. Their power has always been an illusion, perpetuated by pop culture and the national socialist media, but now that is being shown to be nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Normal people in the pro-freedom majority are figuring that out. And now that it's being shown to be a cultural chimera, the anti-liberty authoritarianism of the fascist far left is finished. That is what truly scares leftists about the Bud Light and Target situations. [snip] But this time it's different. The resistance is widespread, persistent, and intensifying.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has humiliated herself, apparently in the false belief that truckers care what she thinks. She took to Twitter to call for a trucker boycott of shipments to Florida because of what she terms “anti-immigrant” policies of Governor Ron DeSantis, deliberately conflating legal with illegal immigration, the target of DeSantis’s recent bill. Anti-immigrant policies reap what they sow. DeSantis’ Florida is about to find that out. The US has such deep needs right now, particularly in labor. Yet policymakers (of ALL stripes) take our immigrant communities for granted. No más. Time to stop biting the hands that feed.
