RALEIGH, N.C. — In massive victories for Republicans, the newly GOP-controlled North Carolina Supreme Court on Friday threw out a previous ruling against gerrymandered voting maps and upheld a photo voter identification law that colleagues had struck down as racially biased. The rulings should make it significantly easier for the Republican-dominated legislature to help the GOP gain seats in the narrowly divided U.S. House when state lawmakers redraw congressional boundaries for the 2024 elections. Under the current map, Democrats won seven of the state’s 14 congressional seats last November. The court, which became a Republican majority this year following the election of two GOP justices, ruled

Racially biased to have a photo ID ? Nope, not one bit . That's just the line they hand out. ID's make it harder for them to cheat and that, boys and girls is what it's all about.

Big GOP victory in Supreme Court election in 2022. NC voters passed constitutional amendment for Voter ID by overwhelming margin. Then Leftist court overturned it. Now we have victory and Justice!

I'm a poll worker. The vote around here is split pretty much 50/50. The only people here who find the requirement for a picture ID to be a burden is... nobody. Everyone has one.

I live in a gerrymandered House district guaranteed to seat a b lack. The GOP rarely offers a candidate and independents don't bother. Now we have this invasion Immigrants to America once assimilated and we were a "melting pot" but too many new immigrants segregate themselves and only seek wealth. We are is now a fruit salad

Two House Democrats are urging President Joe Biden to negotiate with Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on the debt ceiling following the passage of the House GOP-led bill to raise the cap this past week. Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME), who represents a swing Maine district, and Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), a first-term congressman who won with under 52 percent of the vote, are saying that Biden should negotiate with McCarthy on the debt ceiling. Golden told CNN on Friday the president needs to sit down and talk to McCarthy about making a debt ceiling compromise now that the Republicans passed a bill, “You’ve been asking them to pass something

This captures so much about the MSM. It combines total ignorance and open contempt for their audience along with a determined insistence that whatever the intelligence community says must be accepted at face value. Before I get into the story I want to make clear that am not a fan of dropping classified documents into the public realm, with the exception of whistleblowers revealing the corruption of government. I haven’t followed this story closely, so I really haven’t an opinion worth sharing about the whole affair. I am not a conspiracy monger. Readers of my work know that I take a dim view of trying to explain what happens in the world as some sort of organized or even generalized plot to discredit/destroy the right or its personalities. The world is far too messy to be so organized about anything. But the human brain is a wonderful mechanism for ordering the world. We are born to see patterns around us; cloud formations as animals or other illusions that are beautiful but irrelevant. But just because it seems organized doesn’t mean it is. Essentially, you can’t take outcomes as evidence of conspiracy. But isn’t it interesting

A senior EU commissioner has said that she is “disappointed” by Twitter’s lack of censorship amid the bloc’s efforts to crack down on free speech online. Věra Jourová, the Vice President of the European Commission, has stated that she is “disappointed” in Twitter over its failure to implement a sufficient regime of censorship in-line with the bloc’s ideology. The EU has held the social media company in particularly low regard since it was taken over by Elon Musk late last year, with officials repeatedly threatening to ban the platform from the bloc if it did not comply with local censorship demands.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Iran's navy seized a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday heading to the U.S. amid wider tensions over Tehran's nuclear program, the latest-such capture in a waterway crucial for global energy supplies. The U.S. Navy's Mideast-based 5th Fleet identified the vessel as the Advantage Sweet. Satellite tracking data for the vessel from MarineTraffic.com showed it in the Gulf of Oman, just north of Oman's capital, Muscat, on Thursday afternoon. It had just come from Kuwait and listed its destination as Houston. The Advantage Sweet issued a distress call at 1:15 p.m. while in international waters as Iran seized

WASHINGTON — Former Vice President Mike Pence appeared Thursday before the federal grand jury convened as part of the special counsel investigation into former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss and remain in power, according to a source familiar with the matter. The testimony is a significant development in the special counsel’s probe, as Pence could provide critical insights into Trump’s thinking in the days leading up to the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. The former vice president published a memoir and Wall Street Journal opinion article detailing several of his interactions with Trump, but some details were left vague.

No wonder President Biden needs a cheat sheet while taking questions from adults. The 80-year-old commander-in-chief had difficulty remembering his recent state visit to Ireland Thursday while being grilled by kids during a Take Your Child to Work event at the White House. “The last country I’ve traveled, I’m trying to think of the last one I was in,” Biden mused to the children of administration staffers and members of the media. “I’ve been to, met with 89 heads of state so far. So, uh, trying to think where was the last place I was; it’s hard to keep track.” “Ireland,” a child shouted out, jogging the president’s memory. “Yeah, you’re right, Ireland.

More than a third of likely Democrat primary voters believe someone other than President Joe Biden should be the Democrat presidential nominee, according to a poll partially conducted after he announced his reelection bid on Tuesday. The Emerson College Polling survey, taken April 24-25, shows that 65 percent of those who plan to vote in the Democrat primary want Biden as the nominee versus 35 percent who want “someone else.” When pitted against declared candidates, he sees a minor bump in support. In the present field of Biden, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Marianne Williamson, the sitting president takes 70 percent of the support while 21 percent back Kennedy. Williamson

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden just announced his re-election campaign, but he’s already on track to sacrifice New Hampshire’s famed primary to a fringe rival like Marianne Williamson or Robert Kennedy Jr. The unusual situation is one of Biden’s own making, thanks to the new primary calendar the Democratic National Committee ratified at his behest in February, which seeks to demote Iowa and New Hampshire and prohibits candidates from campaigning — or even putting their name on the ballot — in a state that jumps the line. The problem is that New Hampshire and Iowa, both of which Biden lost in 2020, plan to disregard the DNC

A push led by Democrats to give more time for states to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, or ERA, failed on Thursday. The measure didn't win the support needed to clear a key 60-vote threshold, with the final tally being 51 to 47. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer changed his vote to no in order to bring it back again in the near future. "This issue is too important, and we are not giving up," Schumer said in brief remarks after the vote. Almost all Republicans voted against the legislation, though Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, lobbied for it in floor remarks before the vote.

While I’m not fond of “unpack” in this usage, there’s a lot to unpack in answering the headline question. Yes, Kamala Harris is arguably the most unqualified person in history to serve as vice president. Even worse, given the reality of 80-year-old Joe Biden’s mental decline, her ill-advised selection in 2020 puts the Democrat Party in a precarious position with respect to the 2024 presidential election. As conservative columnist Kristin Tate told Fox News Digital, “Kamala Harris is one of the most unlikable and uninspiring public figures in modern political history.” The approval rating of the Cackling Queen of Word Salads™ hasn’t surpassed 40 percent since her first year in office,
