During Biden’s teleprompter read to the Irish Parliament I believe he was referring to his grandfather supposedly telling him about two figures out of Irish history who are well known throughout Ireland, the so-called revolutionary leader was the socialist Irish Prime Minister Eamon De Valera who would not even recognize that there was a Second World War in Europe being fought against the Nazis by both the UK and the USA, claiming instead that there was an “Emergency” ongoing in Europe and that Ireland would remain neutral and deny Britain the use of ports along the West Coast of Ireland to fight the Nazi U-Boat menace to allied shipping including the American armies transiting by ship from the USA to Britain. The second historic figure in Irish history that Biden referred to was no doubt Michael Collins, a high ranking Irish military officer on the treaty side during the Irish civil war who was in favor of negotiating with Britain to leave Ireland, but for Ireland to remain within the British Empire and Commonwealth. As a result Collins was ambushed and killed by the Irish faction that opposed his political stance to end the Irish civil war.
