The Iraq War: 20 Years Later

Original Article

It’s still too soon to make the definitive historical assessment of the Iraq War, the good, the bad, and the ugly — even assuming such a thing is even possible. But it’s never too soon to correct the historical revisionism that’s taken place in recent years.

We fought a war for 8 years or so. Lost a few thousand people. Had a lot more wounded. And the outcome did not effect daily life in America at all. What do you think?

FTA: “ If you’re pushing for a major war that doesn’t have a 36-to-48-month endgame, then don’t bother. For what it’s worth, I haven’t since. If it comes down to a choice between cutting off the weapons flow to Ukraine or sending a single American soldier to fight there… then sayonara, Kyiv.” My sediments exactly. Of course, i also believe the Dims pushed to undermine the peace effort in order bring political harm to the republicans. Very despicable. And they will do it with regard to Ukraine too if there is a republican president. So, no support for any more war mongering from me.

Seem odd that there is no mention of Gulf War 1 that started in 1990.

The opinion of the article's author is basically, Oops that didn't go as planned. That about sums up US foreign policy for the past 60 years.

I remember the media solidly pushing the war with stories every day about Saddam's cruelty to his people and his spoiled brat sons Uday and Qsay driving their Ferraris around and raping young girls they kidnapped off the street. Saddam was nicknamed "The Monster." As it turned out, The Monster was keeping Iran in control and preventing a group like ISIS from forming. All we had to do was destroy his large weapons and his air force and never put a boot on the ground and he would have been impotent for another 10-15 years.

#3, we started Gulf War 1 when Saddam invaded Kuwait. The only affect it had on us was that we would soon be writing one check instead of two to buy ME oil.

FTA: “ The biggest mistake I made was in promoting a war that, I said at the time, would require a multi-generational effort at nurturing Iraq’s infant democracy.” And the USA jumped in anyways, with little dissent. When will we learn it’s all about culture when it comes to “democracy”? Their ideas of “freedom” don’t mesh with ours. Same is true in Ukraine, but no matter, right?

It is yet another case of "Won the war...lost the Peace", Bush 41 won, Clinton lost...and his feckless weakness led not only to an emboldend belligerent Saddam, but also 911. The plans and the perps were ALL made, trained, put into place while clinton was in office, the same Dems who want to blame bush for it...also claim Al;Gore actually won, and should have been President when it happened..Saddam played a cheat and retreat game for years, daring Clinton to "do something" and Clinton just kept moving our troops and fleets around, taking them away from other necessary tasks to seem like he was. When Bush gave the final ultimatum, and Saddam didn't meet the deadline, all hell broke loose, and Saddam even stated "I didn't think he MEANT it, the other guy never did". We and 40 other supporting nations destroyed the worlds 3rd largest military in record/history making time. There certainly were failures, led by (end the bloodshed Dems" that later made "the Surge"necessary, and the same Dems claimed it would never work. Biden, Clinton, Kerry and more wanted to divide Iraq into three pieces and give them to Iran, Syria, and "The UN", methinks they still do. Biggest mistake Bush made was NOT taking out Mookie AlSadr during or soon after the "Cemetery Fight" Sadr was/is the root cause of many of Iraqs problems since. Obama/Biden fostered and allowed the scourge of ISIS/ISIL to fester and erupt, primarily by supporting Sadr and Irans regional ambitions.. Trump burst that blister and cauterized the wound.Obama/Biden lost the peace in Afghanistan as well. Revisionists still harp about WMDSWMDS!!, but the decision was made due to non compliance with all 13 of the points in the Cessation of decision agreement, not just that One..

I was all for kicking the behinds of those who attacked US on our soil, get in and get out, but Bush played US. He woke a lot of US up, though; his presidency ended the RINO con for many of US.

The twentieth century is now well and truly over. The death of the Queen who presided over the second half of it may come to represent a critical point in history: the moment when what will be understood historically as a golden age of confidence and prosperity came to an end. After the terrible ideological wars of its first four decades, that century somehow reinvented itself as a time of quite extraordinary progress. It was as if the world – having been engulfed twice by horror and unprecedented mass murder – had made a vow to atone.

Omicron is up to 70 per cent less likely to cause hospitalisations but is better at evading booster jabs, government analysis has shown. UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) also found that people infected with the new variant were 45 per cent less likely to turn up to A&E. The official analysis confirms the findings of two independent studies published on Wednesday, which also used real world data to paint a less gloomy picture of the Christmas wave.

When a British police commissioner publicly threatens to invade people’s homes at Christmas to break up “illegal” family gatherings, you know that you have entered a new political landscape. At least, new for modern liberal democracies. That sort of edict would scarcely have been noticed in the totalitarian states of the old Soviet bloc, or in the distant darker periods of Western history. How in the name of God, have we got here?

The day that Donald Trump proclaimed he’d be arrested is upon us. Will he or won’t he be processed and taken into custody on a weak attempt to relitigate the Stormy Daniels payoff? All we can do is wait, and since there is no timeline for grand jury deliberations, that wait could drag on. In the meantime, Trump is keeping his eye on the ball in the face of possible jail time. No, he’s not focusing like a laser beam on Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. He’s insinuating Ron DeSantis is gay. [Tweet] Those are just two of the posts Trump put on on Desantis on Monday. Climate Change is a religion. We all know that. The University of Helsinki has decided to make that official by giving Greta Thunberg an honorary Doctorate of Theology at the ripe old age of 20. Pretty sure she hasn’t graduated from High School, but maybe I am wrong. I thought she dropped out to become a climate change activist. Now that she is Dr. Thunberg she can glue herself to Volkswagens or something. Isn’t that what activists with Ph. D.s do these days?

Ford has unveiled its new 'trailblazer' Explorer electric SUV with a range of more than 300 miles from a single charge and a moveable touchscreen inside that conceals a James Bond-style hidden compartment. The new family-friendly crossover - which will be in showrooms next year - is described as the first in a new breed of 'stylish, smart and road-trip ready' all-electric Ford vehicles with clever storage and sharp design designed to appeal as much to women as men. And the only thing it appears to share with the larger outgoing internal combustion engine Ford Explorer SUV (which is more than half a metre longer than

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has finally taken the gloves off and launched a blistering attack on his former mentor President Donald Trump. In an exclusive wide-ranging interview with me airing on Fox Nation’s “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Thursday, he said “stay tuned” about his widely expected announcement that he’s running for president and declared: I have what it takes to be president and I can beat Biden. But it’s what he said about Trump that will ignite a firestorm in the Republican Party. For months, DeSantis has said nothing as Trump’s escalated his verbal attacks on him, branding his ex-protégé “Ron DeSanctimonious” and “Meatball Ron.” On Monday, Trump went nuts

A member of the California Reparations Task Force vowed the committee’s "recommendations will be breathtaking." Lisa Holder, a task force member and president of the far-left Equal Justice Society, published an opinion piece advocating for the reparations committee and writing that Californians "must be prepared for remedies on a scale approaching the Great Society programs of Medicare and Medicaid." "Reparations is a paradigm for understanding harm and repair as it relates to people who suffered a human rights injustice because of government action," Holder wrote. "Harm and repair are the two sides of the spectrum." She added that reparations will

Writer David Goldman, who writes as the brilliant "Spengler" at Asia Times, foresees an ending of sorts to the Ukraine conflict, based on the West's inability to supply the resources to keep an extended war coming. In his latest Asia Times piece, he noted the private thinking going on of people who make up the foreign policy community: A gloomy assessment of Ukraine’s prospects for victory against Russia emerged from a recent private gathering of former top US soldiers, intelligence officials and scholars with resumes reaching from the Reagan to the Trump administrations. Short of trained personnel and ammunition, one speaker argued, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky might consider a Chinese peace plan,

Brazil’s recently inaugurated leftist President Lula Ignacio Da Silva has initiated a process of taking back guns from citizens after a surge in sales toward the end of Jair Bolsonaro’s presidency. The Wall Street Journal detailed in a report on Tuesday how Lula has already reversed looser gun restrictions from the Bolsonaro era and plans to force owners to register their firearms or face arrest. “It’s time to put down your weapons, weapons that should never have been wielded,” Lula said after winning last year’s presidential election in contentious circumstances. “Guns kill and we choose life.” Lula has now given owners an ultimatum of March 31 to bring their guns to
