After attempting to navigate through the politics in order to curry favor with the base Republican voters on a Ukraine position, when confronted by Piers Morgan who is a pro-NATO war voice, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis now says his former position on Ukraine has been “mischaracterized” and Vladimir Putin “is a war criminal.” The walk back highlights once again that Ron DeSantis is an empty vessel using poll testing to formulate his policy stances. (snip) If the professional Republicans are NOT targeting a Republican politician, you can be assured that Republican politician is a member of the GOPe club operation.

President Joe Biden’s Pentagon is arguing for gender-affirming care for minors as young as seven years old who belong to military families.
In a March edition of the American Journal of Public Health, Department of Defense providers expressed their support for children to be put on hormone blockers and sex change surgeries despite the dangers of its long-term effects, both mentally and physically. “Affirming care has only recently become politicized; protection of gender-affirming medical care for military-affiliated [transgender] youths may require a declarative position without tolerance for personal biases,

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis toughened his stance on Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling Putin a “war criminal” who should be “held accountable” for the invasion of Ukraine, just days after he claimed the Ukraine war is not a “vital national interest.”
DeSantis angered Republican hawks, Never Trumpers, and neocons less than two weeks ago when he characterized the Ukraine-Russia conflict as a “territorial dispute” that is not a “vital” U.S. interests.
DeSantis told Fox News’s Tucker Carlson:
While the U.S. has many vital national interests — securing our border, addressing the crisis of readiness within our military, achieving energy security and independence, checking the economic, cultural, and military power of the Chinese

Three closely watched ailing senators remain away from the Capitol this week and it’s not clear when they will return. One of them, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, has spoken directly with some members of his leadership team and conveyed to them he is doing well and anxious to get back to work.
Meanwhile, Sen. John Fetterman, a Pennsylvania Democrat, continues to make progress in his treatment for clinical depression at Walter Reed Medical Center while also staying in close contact with key members of his staff, according to a source familiar with the situation.
Fetterman has not said when he plans to return to the Senate. The senator entered treatment

During an interview with Bloomberg on Thursday, John Kirby argued that Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow to meet with Vladimir Putin is “a manifestation of how much China and Russia know that American leadership on the world stage is back” and that there is “a marriage of convenience, certainly not one of affection” between the two.
Kirby said, “I think, first of all, calling this an alliance is a bit of a stretch. I refer to it as a marriage of convenience, certainly not one of affection. President Xi sees in President Putin a useful foil and a counterweight to American influence, particularly in Europe.

The student who was accused of shooting and wounding two workers at his Denver high school has been found dead by police.
The Park County Coroners Office confirmed that they found 17-year-old Austin Lyle's body near his car in an apparent suicide, local reports said.
Lyle was accused of shooting faculty members as they were patting him down for weapons as part of a 'safety plan' devised for the youth based on previous behavioral issues.
The East High School student fled the shooting scene on foot immediately after Wednesday's violence, which unfolded just before 10am local time.

In recent years, the U.S. has suffered recurring banking crises almost like clockwork. Indeed, about every 10 years or so we seem to go through another financial panic, only to be followed by a spate of bad regulations passed to ensure “it won’t happen again.” But it always does. So how do we end this cycle?
U.S. banking disasters plagued the late 20th century and early 21st century. But of course they go back long before even that, to 1907 and 1929, as two examples.
More recently, there was the 1980s and ’90s savings and loan crisis, the 1998 collapse of Long-Term Capital Management and global crisis, the 2007 financial crisis

Democrat Senate Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) refused to state his confidence in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who is expected to indict former President Donald Trump.
Schumer’s remarks came during a press conference on Wednesday.“Do you have confidence in Alvin Bragg?” one reporter asked Schumer.Schumer refused to answer, instead insisting that it is “premature to comment” on the situation. “Look, the bottom line is, as I said, it’s premature to comment on what’s happening, and we’ll have to wait and see what he does,” Schumer responded.

Joe and Jill Biden on Thursday traveled to Ottawa, Canada to participate in a greet with Mary Simon, the Governor General of Canada and her husband, Whit Fraser.
Dr. Jill opened her big fat mouth in the beginning of the meeting and mumbled something stupid about global warming.
“Well, it’s been really warm because of global warming in the United States,” Dr. Jill said.
On the West Coast — a great deal of rain and a lot of forest fires — we’ve had a tough year due to global warming,” Joe Biden said.
Brilliant.

After all the destruction Harry and Meghan have left in their wake, one would think they'd be happy — humbled, even — to accept an invitation to the coronation of King Charles.
Instead, they've reportedly issued a list of demands.
Hey — at least it would be on-brand.
If the King would like his salty son and disgruntled daughter-in-law to attend, their ultimatums reportedly include a private apology during a private meeting with Charles and William (not happening) and a place on the balcony at Buckingham Palace (for senior working royals only).
This comes on top of allowances already made. King Charles will reportedly allow Harry and Meghan use of Frogmore Cottage,

Transgender women will no longer be allowed to compete in female track and field events regardless of their levels of testosterone, World Athletics president Sebastian Coe said Friday.
Speaking after a meeting of the global track and field federation’s decision-making body, Coe sad: “The Council has agreed to exclude male or female transgender athletes who have been through male puberty from female world ranking competitions from March the 31st this year.” Coe said World Athletics had consulted with stakeholders including the International Olympic Committee and national federations about the issue of transgender athletes.
“The majority of those consulted stated that transgender athletes should not be competing in the female category,” he said.
