Up to this point, I was unaware of the timeline regarding filed motions to suspend the certification process on 6 January. Just three minutes prior, Capitol Police and other "agents" notified House leadership that protests were about to breach the chambers. Pelosi then invoked House rules of an "emergency" that effectively blocked those motions from going forward. Otherwise, the motions would have halted the certification process and it also would've had legal standing before SCOTUS. If that timeline is true, the motivation behind invoking an "emergency" and to label the protest as an "insurrection" all makes sense.
