A group of 16 GOP representatives is on course to derail House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's leverage in negotiations with President Joe Biden and the Democrats over the debt ceiling. The group of 16, identified by Axios, all have never voted to raise the debt ceiling, including under former President Donald Trump, meaning they are unlikely to break their streak now. The 16 were identified as Reps. Jurors in Alex Murdaugh's double murder trial today visited the family's hunting lodge which has remained frozen in time, with bullet hole-riddled windows and forgotten family possessions.
Eerie footage showed the kennels where Murdaugh's wife Maggie, 52, and son Paul, 22, were shot dead on the hunting estate in Moselle on the night of June 7, 2021.

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., grilled Attorney General Merrick Garland over the FBI raid on a pro-life Christian man and asked whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) had an "anti-Catholic bias."
"Our department protects all religions, all ideologies. It does not have any bias against any religion of any kind," Garland said, fielding the question from Hawley during Wednesday's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
Hawley then characterized the DOJ as an agency quick to expend resources and intelligence to be deployed against Catholics while "turning a blind eye" as people are executed in the streets of American cities.
"Your answer frankly surprises me," Hawley added.

A 40-year-old Pennsylvania man has been taken into FBI custody after trying to smuggle an explosive device onto an Allegiant flight.
Officials say that the device was concealed inside a checked piece of luggage at Lehigh Valley International Airport and contained multiple fuses, ABC News reported.
Mark Muffley, of Lansford Pennsylvania, was about to take an Allegiant flight from eastern Pennsylvania to Sanford, Florida.
The bag triggered an alarm before being loaded onto the plane, and the TSA found a 'circular compound' hidden in the lining of the baggage, the FBI said.

Sen. John Fetterman’s (D-Penn.) staff has released an update regarding his condition. Fetterman remains hospitalized at Walter Reed Medical Center as he undergoes treatment for clinical depression.
It’s not a very detailed update.
“We don’t have a lot to update folks with since there’s no real news to report except that John is doing well, working with the wonderful doctors, and remains on a path to recovery,” Fetterman’s communications director Joe Calvello said in a statement. “He is visiting with staff and family daily, and his staff are keeping him updated on Senate business and news.”
