The heroic bystander who took down the Monterey Park gunman after he murdered 10 people at a California dance hall has spoken out to describe how he took the 72-year-old down, saying his 'primal instinct' told him to attack.
Brandon Tsay was at the Lai Lai Ballroom and Studio in Alhambra at 10.40pm last night when gunman Huu Can Tran burst through the doors armed with an illegal, semi-automatic pistol.
He has since told Good Morning America and The New York Times how he was helping out on Saturday night at his family's business when dozens had come to the ballroom for a Lunar New Year party.
Tran had already killed 10 people

The dims should definitely outlaw jealousy - in their quest to form a more perfect population- kind of like Dr Moreau.

I'm sure the Democrats are devastated that this crime was not racially motivated.

The name "Huu Can Tran" looks to be Vietnamese. From his age, the shooter could be native born.
Any info if the people at the Monterey Park group and the Lai Lai Ballroom were from another ethnic/national persuasion? (It's not just the descendants of NW Europeans living in the US that have prejudices.)

There needs to be more illegal semi-automatic pistol control laws. In the shooter's case, there needs to be more fashion control laws for the stocking cap he had on.

And the neighbors say he was "a nice, quiet guy". But sometimes human emotions boil over. This won't be in the news long. An asian guy ( think the name is Vietnamese) killing people doesn't fit the leftist's anti-white hate story line.
Once again, the lying, incompetent propaganda media once put out the pure lie that the shooter used a "high powered assault rifle" in yesterday's reports when he actually used a normal handgun.....but now their claim is that it was an "illegal semi-automatic pistol". Hmm. I wonder what was illegal about it? Stolen? Or just not approved by the current draconian antigun laws in California? Since this type of gun has been in common use for between half a century and a century, depending on the exact design, they are VERY common, with hundreds of millions in circulation in the USA.
Hard to tell from the extremely poor quality photo, but that looks like a VERY ordinary pistol, and the magazine in the box with it seems to be an entirely ordinary magazine, too.
Note that "high capacity magazines" have been the standard design in certain handguns since about 1907 with the 10 shot Savage .32 ACP pistol, which was an innovation 116 yeas ago. And in the late 1920s FN in Belgium had developed the Browning 9mm pistol with a standard 13 shot magazine, so that is nearly a century old, too. There are dozens and dozens of standard pistols today with magazines in the 15 to 17 round capacity as standard. Many police departments use Glock or Smith & Wesson pistols with 17 round magazines. These are NORMAL capacity magazines, and have been for at least 50 years.
There is nothing unusual about these magazines or guns. They are the normal designs of the last 30 to100+ years. The antigun folks trying to claim that cartridge capacity beyond six or eight cartridges is somehow "horrific" and "extreme" is not dissimilar to their apparent hatred of natural gas stoves.
I guess they want us back to flintlock pistols and wood stoves.

He ess Chinese. He met his wife at that first ballroom in the 1990s; they were divorced by 2006. Here is a tumeline of his known life:

From the very earliest reports this was characterized as a domestic dispute gone bad. Was he looking for another woman or had he gone into dementia and was looking for the wife who’d divorced him?

This article quotes his first wife, whom he taught to dance years ago at the Star Dance Studio, the site of the first shootings. She remarked that he was quick to anger if she made a mistake. His latest residence was n Hemet, some distance from the largely Chnese communities of Monterey Park and Alhambra.
He was either searching for a second wife or had gone off the rails mentally and was out looking for #1 who’d divorced him in 2006.
Lunar New Year is a really big deal for the Chinese. They party. They drink a lot. Something causes the Chinese to not handle liquor well. Genetics? He was 72. Brooding? Depressed? Who knows? We don’t.

#7, surname "Tran" comes from Vietnam and China. (Internet says it is a transliteration of "Chen".) However, given name "Huu" seems to be wholly Vietnamese. (And not to be confused with Welsh given name "Hu.")
There is a minority group of people called the Hoa that are from Vietnam but are ethnically Chinese. There seems to have been some friction between the Hoa and the ethnic Vietnamese.

How can this be? The gun is illegal, that means it cannot be in someone's possession or used, right?
