A Republican congresswoman blasted House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's threats to boot three outspoken Democrats off committees on Tuesday. Indiana Rep. Victoria Spartz dismissed the GOP leader's efforts as 'bread and circuses' and called on him to 'start governing for a change' in the searing statement. McCarthy has vowed to remove Democrat Reps. Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff of California from the House select committee on Intelligence, while threatening to remove progressive Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar off the Foreign Affairs Committee. It's payback for Democrats voting to strip hard-right GOP Reps. Paul Gosar of Arizona and Marjorie Taylor Greene of George of their committee assignments in the last Congress.

A new set of whale meat vending machines debuted in Japan this week.
Kyodo Senpaku Co., a Japanese whaling operator, unveiled them in the port town of Yokohama, approximately 20 miles from its capital city of Tokyo.
This is the third vending machine outlet the company has installed in an effort to promote sales after years of struggling to promote its products due to whale conservationists’ protests.
