Microsoft is preparing to announce job cuts tomorrow. Sky News reports that thousands of roles will be cut, with the software giant said to be looking at cutting around 5 percent of its workforce. With more than 220,000 employees at Microsoft, that could mean more than 10,000 layoffs. While Sky News doesn’t name an exact date for the expected cuts, a source familiar with Microsoft’s plans tells The Verge that the company will likely announce layoffs on Wednesday, ahead of its quarterly earnings next week. Bloomberg is also reporting that a number of layoffs will be announced in Microsoft’s engineering divisions tomorrow. The job cuts are said to be “significantly larger” than

Well, I won't use any version of Windows beyond Win 7, and just yesterday installed Linux Mint on one of my laptops. One day Win 7 will probably not be useable, so I'll probably switch all to Linux. Microsoft is dead to me.

Most large corporations have unnecessary employees. 5S, Continuous Improvement, Diversity & Inclusion, online company blurb... probably at least a 10% reduction would not be noticed, except for a higher bottom line.

I'm glad Microsoft employs so many people, but I can't figure out what that many people could possibly be doing. Certainly not fixing stuff because Windows 11 is a tragedy.

A literal drop in the bucket, but it sucks if it happens to you. My former company, half their size, had layoffs amounting to 15% of all employees (mostly in the U.S. of course). I'm glad I made it to retirement first. No one will want to be a tech worker in this country when there is no job security. The Harvard MBA has destroyed Capitalism.

With the availability of open source software there are plenty of alternatives to Microsoft software. There's no need for a person to pay for Office 365.

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon dealt leftists a dose of energy infrastructure reality on CNBC’s Squawk Box Thursday. While leftists are busy calling for Americans to chuck their gas stoves off a cliff in the name of climate change, Dimon quipped, “We need oil and gas,” when Squawk Box co-host Joe Kernen asked him whether stakeholders will increase pressure on companies to pursue Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policies. Dimon said it would take “50 years” to transition away from oil and gas completely. “It’s a hundred million barrels a day that are used to heat, fuel, [and] feed people.” Dimon’s comments are simply common sense.

Supreme Court Marshal Gail Curley said that justices were part of the investigation into who leaked a draft opinion to Politico last year. "During the course of the investigation, I spoke with each of the Justices, several on multiple occasions. The Justices actively cooperated in this iterative process, asking questions and answering mine. I followed up on all credible leads, none of which implicated the Justices or their spouses. On this basis, I did not believe that it was necessary to ask the Justices to sign sworn affidavits," Curley said in a statement on Friday. Curley's statement comes one day

So Joe Biden is finally, officially in trouble for something. While many in the media are eager to point out that Biden’s classified document scandal isn’t as bad in some ways as Trump’s classified document scandal, some realists have admitted that they’re similar enough that there’s probably not a lot to be gained here. And one reason that’s true is that while Biden’s people did quickly call the National Archives to, in effect, turn themselves in once the documents were found, they sat on the findings as far as the public was concerned. If you’ve watched any of the White House press briefings this week then you already know this has

If you think about the study of Black Americans, that is what he wants to block and, again, these types of actions aren’t new, especially from what we’re seeing from Florida, sadly,” Jean-Pierre told the White House press corps.

It started with the discovery of classified documents at Joe Biden's former office at his think tank. This discovery was made on Nov. 2, 2022, a few days prior to the midterms. Yet the information was buried by the White House and other agencies which knew of the matter to protect the Democrats from any electoral harm. Recently, the Washington Post reported on how Biden’s lawyers, the White House, and the Department of Justice colluded to hide vital information from the public. Since the WaPo is a Democrat mouthpiece, there was abundant spin. The WaPo interviewed people directly involved in the discovery of the classified document and subsequent coverup.

President Joe Biden’s Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, announced another $2.5 billion in military aid for Ukraine on Thursday and said the United States “will stand united with Ukraine for as long as it takes.” The most recent aid package comes after Congress awarded $45 billion to Ukraine in the massive $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill that Biden signed into law last month, bringing the total amount of U.S. aid sent to Ukraine to over $110 billion. Interestingly, the $45 billion Congress awarded was $8 billion more than the $37 billion that Biden’s administration requested.

The Federal Aviation Administration said Thursday that a contractor working with the agency accidentally triggered the system outage last week that suspended thousands of flights. The unnamed company unintentionally removed files in the Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) system, which sends real-time information about potential hazards to pilots on their routes, the Wall Street Journal first reported. “The agency has so far found no evidence of a cyberattack or malicious intent,” the FAA told the publication. The agency has also reportedly fixed deficiencies in the system and adapted it to make it capable of withstanding such errors in the future.
