Holidays didn’t lead to feared bump
in flu cases, CDC says

New U.S. government data suggests holiday gatherings didn’t spark surges in respiratory diseases. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday reported that visits to doctors’ offices for the flu-like illnesses fell for the sixth straight week. Reports of RSV, a common cause of cold-like symptoms that can be serious for infants and the elderly, are also down.

The third to the last paragraph is the tell all about what The Science used to say about flu and respiratory viruses, before they changed all the definitions during the Covid debacle. This author's articles are often posted in Lucianne.

Pretty much confirms that the CDC isn't very good at estimating, projecting, or protecting anything.

Thats because were not falling for the PCR test debacle again!! The PCR tests were totally bogus registering a couple virus particles in your nose same as an entire Snoot full. The virus would never have manifested itself with such a low particle count, but the PCR test made all results the same. So, you stayed home and social distanced when you never would have spread a damn thing. Now the libs are so scared of Covid they will react the same with the updated tests that detect Flu or Covid even if you would never have any symptoms. This will all come out eventually.

Woke up Christmas morning with a bad cold. Three weeks later it is gone. No way was I was seeing a doctor who would pronounce COVID and get rewarded. We live in crazy times.

The Trump administration, state officials and even individual hospital workers are now racing against each other to get the necessary masks, gloves and other safety equipment to fight coronavirus — a scramble that hospitals and doctors say has come too late and left them at risk. But according to a previously unrevealed White House playbook, the government should’ve begun a federal-wide effort to procure that personal protective equipment at least two months ago.

San Francisco’s reparations committee has proposed paying each Black longtime resident $5 million and granting total debt forgiveness due to the decades of "systematic repression" faced by the local Black community. The San Francisco African American Reparations Advisory Committee, which advises the city on developing a plan for reparations for Black residents, released its draft report last month to address reparations – not for slavery, since California was not technically a slave state, but "to address the public policies explicitly created to subjugate Black people in San Francisco by upholding and expanding the intent and legacy of chattel slavery."

Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee has introduced a bill aimed at fighting “white supremacy” by attaching criminal charges to certain forms of hate speech. The Democratic congresswoman introduced the Leading Against White Supremacy Act of 2023, which aims “to prevent and prosecute white supremacy inspired hate crime and conspiracy to commit white supremacy inspired hate crime.” The conspiracy addition means people who use hate speech online could face criminal charges under the legislation even if they don’t act on their threats.

With each gallon of gas pumped in the United States since 1932, drivers have been paying taxes. The revenue is used for road repairs and public transportation such as train and bus systems. Currently, the Fed takes 18.4 cents per gallon for gas or 24.4 cents per gallon for diesel. State gas taxes range from a national high of 61 cents for gas in Pennsylvania, to a low of 8.95 cents in Alaska. But environmentally motivated improvements in fuel efficiency and the move to electric vehicles (EVs) translate to less gas sold, resulting less tax revenue collected. State and federal governments are looking for a new way to fund transportation.

Conservatives on Twitter are up in arms after actor Rob Reiner praised President Biden as a "decent law abiding person" while slamming former President Donald Trump as a "pathologically lying criminal." "The difference between Joe Biden and Donald Trump is: Joe Biden is a decent law abiding person, and Donald Trump is a pathologically lying criminal," Reiner tweeted Sunday. The star, best recognized for his role as Michael "Meathead" Stivic on the popular 1970s sitcom "All in the Family," has a history of criticizing the former president, labeling him as "mentally unstable" and accusing him of "aiding and abetting the enemy" in a December 2018 tweet.

One of the major wins of the McCarthy drama that gripped Congress last week was a pledge from the new Speaker to release all of the January 6 riot footage. Via Newsweek: "Speaking to reporters on Thursday, McCarthy said he intends to make public the thousands of hours of footage from the insurrection—something Republicans have long called for, as part of attempts to exonerate both lawmakers and civilians accused of wrongdoing in connection to the riots. McCarthy said that he would consider releasing all the footage as the 'public should see what happened' that day, rather than rely on the report from the House Select Committee which investigated the attack."

Much of the commentary concerning the presence of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center office and the President’s Delaware home has focused on the delay between the discovery and the public revelation of that discovery. And it is difficult to believe that the timing was apolitical. There is another question about the timing, however, that no one seems to have asked: Why were classified documents that had been in Biden’s possession since 2017 suddenly found less than 90 days after the FBI raid on former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago compound?

Joe Biden on Sunday visited Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia to deliver remarks honoring Martin Luther King Jr.He also creeped on a girl sitting in the audience. One of the most embarrassing parts of Biden’s speech at a black Baptist church while honoring MLK? He couldn’t even pronounce the name of the black US Supreme Court Justice he appointed. Biden lied while he was at church. Joe Biden claimed he attended a black church as a teenager. “I used to go to 7:30 mass every morning in high school and then in college, before I went to the Black church. Not a joke,” Biden said.

In a wide-ranging address in honor of Martin Luther King Day, President Biden called for cops to use deadly force as the last resort and questioned why car insurance costs more in neighborhoods with heavily black populations.  The president also insisted America needed to remember its 'abuses' in remarks at the National Action Network's MLK day breakfast at the historic Mayflower Hotel in downtown Washington, D.C. 'The idea that we're supposed to remain silent on the abuses of the past, as if they didn't occur? That's not being woke. That's being honest. That's talking about history,' the president said.
