PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — Civil rights attorney Lee Merritt is representing the family of a 12-year-old boy who died during a police chase in Paulding County in 2021.
Le’Den Boykins died when the car he was in crashed after state troopers performed a PIT maneuver.
In September of 2021, Charlie Moore was stopped by a Georgia State Patrol trooper for allegedly speeding. Investigators said Moore had also been drinking. They also said they needed to call for backup because Moore wouldn’t cooperate. When backup arrived, a deputy eventually smashed a window after Moore didn’t show his license or open the door. Moore sped off after the window burst.
Investigators said Moore drove over

Legally and logically, Mr Moore is certainly responsible but when the charge is speeding, and when the life of a helpless passenger such as the adolescent is at stake, instead of pushing this clearly irrational driver into a high-speed chase --with the almost predictable tragic outcome--it would have been a far better decision for law enforcement simply to go to Mr Moore's house and wait for him to return and charge him with everything in the book.

Was the car he was riding in driving itself or was there someone driving that did not obey the police officers? It’s not the police fault. Case dismissed.

#3: AND drinking. Run from the Po-lice and anything can happen. A real father knows that.

I don't drive DUI and don't even have an outstanding parking ticket. But, I expect that if there is a minor in the vehicle, the police should have taken that into account.

As a person with unwavering support of police in the past, I have started to have my doubts. Spend a little time on YouTube - start with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6HRRSismpo and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JH8u2QTUbbs

From the article: "Moore’s 14-year-old son and Boykins were passengers."
This implies that Boykins is someone other than Moore's son.

Odd, the drunkard father apparently does not understand or speak English or manages to comply with Police commands, but they are certainly. showing the same money-grubbing traits that they all do when they feel they can attempt to sue and get money!

Had they allowed him to speed off without pursuing and he crashed the car injuring or killing his passengers, they’d be getting sued for that too.

Re #10, it appears that the drunk driver’s son survived. The other boy who happened to be in the car perished.

"They're tired of their kids dying", so they're invoking the George Floyd defense, that it's always law enforcements fault. While I'm not a big, big supporter of the police, because I've personally seen some of their questionable actions, in this case, no one made the loving father lead the police on a high speed chase. But blacks and black lawyers, seem to really love their children, mostly after they're killed by someone with deep pockets. Dad wasn't too worried about the children when he started running. As for kids in the car, were they asking dad to stop or slow down and did the caring dad comply? Apparently not, because he had 'black privilege', meaning he was above the law. It's sad that a young man died, but that's on his dad.

Speeding, driving drunk, late at night, getting feisty with the cops, "i ain't gonna show you my papers until you tell me what I'm pulled over for...Nope, I'm not going to open my window, I'm not talking to you any more, call your supervisor" (supervisor shows up, demands DL/Insurance/Registration) Guy still refuses and abuses them...then speeding off...with two "Unidentified" minors in the car...who were not wearing seatbelts.
Imagine the Poutrage if the two kids were kidnapped, child trafficked, the cops HAD the guy but let him speed off...and the kids were harmed or killed after. Or he drove them someplace where they shot up a B-Day party full of other "Kids"

I guess the one thing cops "Might" have done different,(since everyone seems to be demanding that) is to have one of the secondary responding vehicles pull in FRONT of the stopped suspect when they 1st arrived.

Yep. Daddy is responsible for this for resisting the trooper instructions. This isn't on the troopers, this is on Daddy.

Accountability ignored. It's all about being a victim. The bottom-dwelling low-lives from politics and special interests will be on a feeding frenzy to milk the system. Soon, it won't be about the dead child but all about the money and the cops.

Sorry, but we've been there, done that. Lots of times, and it's all crap.
The "Gentle Giant" (the "Hands up, don't shoot" lie), Freddie Gray, Trayvon, Eric Garner (who has a street named after him on Staten Island), and, of course, the patron saint of drug addicted criminals, George Floyd.
I don't believe there's an ounce of political energy remaining for this hoaxsterism. I think Jussie Smollett was the end of it.
But let's see. Let's see if they can get Al Sharpton to do his thing with them.
Sorry the kid is dead. He didn't deserve that. But the cops are heroes. They can't prevent every tragic decision by idiots.

Le’Den Boykins was deprived of a lifetime of crime by being killed at the age of 12. What a waste.

The child's family's grief is understandable, but the father fled from the police at very high speed, was chased, and pitted. I just saw a 16-minute video of the whole incident. The driver might have fled because of warrants, and if the worst happens to him, he could conceivably be charged with felony murder of his own child. Lose the attitude and comply with law enforcement. Things go much simpler for everyone that way.
