Daylight saving time ends early Sunday morning — as the bi-annual practice of changing our clocks continues to divide the U.S.
A study published this month found the shift to standard time each fall results in a 16% jump in deer-vehicle crashes because of an abrupt increase in night-time driving. Researchers say a permanent move to daylight saving time (DST) could prevent nearly 37,000 of these collisions annually in the U.S.
The U.S. Senate unanimously approved a bill in March to make DST permanent. But sleep experts say standard time is better for human circadian biology,

Can we please dump DST and just go back to standard time and leave the clocks alone? Hint: we do not save any time.

The Senate unanimously approved the Sunshine Protection Act March 15, 2022, but the House has never taken up discussion or passage of the bill. No reason stated. Maybe the new House will pass it!

Sooner or later Bambi and friends will form a PAC with gobs of bribe money to give out. Senators and representatives will then take notice and eliminate twice-yearly time changes. The public hates it! But in Washington the public does not count except at election time. Donate to Smith or Jones' reelection campaign and...viola..."I've been against time changes for a long time." In the meantime thousands of deer must die taking hundreds of human car crashers with them along with increased rates of domestic violence and suicides. If Fox would show Bambi's mother as road kill something might happen, but bucks, not does, come first for Smith and Jones.

And who counted the 37,000 collisions with deer?? We live in deer country and there just aren't that many accidents. Common sense says to watch for them, especially with the farmers harvesting the fields. /s Ooops, I said common sense, something very few have these days /s

When we were part-owners of a large ranch in east San Diego County, I used to feel he same way before the annual opening off deer season…. How were they to know that yesterday’s friends were that morning’s enemies?

I always hate the end of DST, love it when it starts. Great idea, IMO.

Re #7, me too. Word has it that it may end up being set as the national all year time. Fine with me.

I prefer standard time. People who want more daylight should get up earlier.

Looks like the reporter went to the Joe Biden School of Arithmetic -- that's three positions, not two.
"A 2019 Associated Press poll found 31% of Americans are in favor of a permanent move to DST [1], while 40% prefer standard time year-round [2]. Around 28% voted to keep the status quo [3]."
"Research supports both positions." Both of the 3?

Hard to tell if they want to save the deer OR save the people. If some states can stop the time switcheroo, why not more states? FTA: ''The time change occurs across the whole US with the exception of Alaska, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa and the Virgin Islands. Two states, Hawaii and Arizona do not make the change because they have their own state laws to keep their hours fixed.''

Researchers claim.... right. I assume they are greenies and liars, like the covid 'researchers'/ It just happens that it is not good for humans to have the stupid DST.

Deer? The least of my worries. There are more deer in America than ever before. Idiots would rather watch them starve then let wolves and hunters control them.

Poster #1 is exactly right.
The deluded, self-important government officials actually believe that they are "saving" daylight - - when they play with our clocks. The very name Daylight "Saving" Time - - is a total con job. All it is is Clock Shifting Time - - and it has NO effect on the amount of daylight.
Year-round daylight "saving" time would just shift the work day to 8am-4pm - - instead of 9am-5pm. And that would accomplish - - - - - what?

At this latitude, Pennsyllvania, does come into heat around November 15,making them receptive to breeding. Bucks are on the prowl, chasing does, including ones who are not yet in heat.
I believe that the increase in car/'deer collisions in the Northeast and across the coutry at this latitude is \is best explained by the rut.
(In all my years od driving, and living in Pa.,I have hit just one deer, at sundown, in October, as I slowed down at my driveway. Three crossed front of me, and one trailing the three stepped out in front of me, and I hit it. I had fogotten the axiom that when deer cross in front of you, there is often one more.)

I don't know what's going on, but the deer are prolific around my place in Carrabelle, FL. I monitor things there with cameras. I went 6 years and only 1 deer eating my hibiscus. In the last 4-6 months I am seeing small herds of deer several times a day, and the hibiscus seem to be their favorite. What's also interesting is the bear sightings are up about 1000% as well as foxes who seem to think they own the place. Gator sightings are down, although I spotted one in the pond the other night. Snake sightings are down, thankfully. It's really fun to see all this, whatever is causing it.

The current DST duration is another example of Democrats sticking their noses where it didn't belong! Standard Time should be the standard instead of only lasting 4 months!

Most people I know hate changing the clocks twice a year and want to stay on standard time.
So what PAC is bribing our politicians to keep the status quo?

All DST does is force me to stay up another hour, then throw my body clock out of whack for 2 months.
But I do understand school kids being seen in the dark. There have been some tragic incidents.
