The only thing I remember about him is that Biden was massaging Carter's wife's shoulders and sniffing her hair at Carter's swearing in ceremony.

Ash Carter? Isn't he the guy who when he was giving an acceptance speech onstage Creepy, Sleepy Slimy, Gropey, Sniffy Sloppy Joe was massaging his wife's shoulders and sniffing her hair right behind him. Complete with a disgust look on her face. Later on Stephanie Carter said what Sniffy Joe did was appreciated by her. If it was my wife Sloppy Joe and I would have words but that's just me.

Democrats’ path to maintaining their razor-thin US Senate majority in the final days of the midterm campaigns was narrowed by John Fetterman’s rocky debate performance in Pennsylvania on the heels of an underwhelming showing from Raphael Warnock in Georgia earlier this month. Fetterman, the Democratic lieutenant governor, struggled to string together sentences in his debate against Republican Mehmet Oz for a US Senate seat, putting on display his challenges in recovering from a May stroke. He also had trouble articulating his policy positions, which left him unable to blame his health entirely. Less than two weeks ago, Warnock, a senator

A large magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck just east of San Jose, Calif., Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey which called the temblor the largest quake to strike the San Francisco Bay Area in eight years. The quake, which struck at 11:42 a.m. PDT, was centered about 12 miles east of San Jose in Joseph D. Grant County Park. The quake, which was felt as far away as Salinas, Point Reyes and Stockton, rattled residents who posted videos to social media of the shaking. A 3.1 aftershock struck about five minutes after the initial earthquake, USGS said. At this

Aaron J. Brown still remembers his last conversation with Paul Wellstone, the fiery liberal senator from Minnesota who stopped in to visit Brown’s newspaper office during the final push of his 2002 reelection campaign. “He didn’t know if he was gonna win, but he liked where he was,” Brown recalled of Wellstone’s thinking. Figuratively, Wellstone was in one of the toughest Senate races in the nation. Literally he also liked where he was, the Iron Range, almost 200 miles north of the populous Twin Cities, a region whose identity — political, financial and cultural — was forged in the iron

Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., expressed disbelief that "anybody" would vote for Republicans, in an interview with The New York Times on Monday. The paper pressed Pelosi on "troubling" data for Democrats this November. But Pelosi "rejected the suggestion that late-breaking trends seem to favor Republicans," according to The Times. 'Part of it is, I cannot believe anybody would vote for these people," she said, before bashing Republicans’ campaign strategy as "endless lying and endless money." In recent media interviews, the Democrat has spurned polls showing GOP-favored issues like the economy and crime are what voters care about the most.

The decision clears the way for the WNBA star to serve nine years in a penal colony, unless the U.S. government negotiates a deal. The poll of likely voters finds Democratic incumbent Senator Maggie Hassan leading Republican challenger Don Bolduc, 48% to 45%. Libertarian candidate Jeremy Kauffman is polling at 2%, while 4% of likely voters are undecided. With just two weeks away from the election, Sen. Hassan has just a 3% lead. Washington — Plastic recycling rates are declining even as production shoots up, according to a Greenpeace USA report out Monday that blasted industry claims of creating an efficient, circular economy as "fiction." Titled "Circular Claims Fall Flat Again," the study found that of 51 million tons of plastic waste generated by U.S. households in 2021, only 2.4 million tons were recycled, or around five percent. After peaking in 2014 at 10 percent, the trend has been decreasing, especially since China stopped accepting the West's plastic waste in 2018. Virgin production — of non-recycled plastic, that is — meanwhile is rapidly rising as the

I can recall the Trump administration being full of content as a writer for a conservative news site and commentary. Because someone was always worrying about the past president, there was always something to talk about. I was worried about Joe Biden’s inauguration, as it was too boring. Two weeks before the most important off-year elections in the history of the nation isn’t a good time for Democrats to realize that the narrative that they’ve been relentlessly pushing has been a complete failure, but that’s the reality for a party that bet everything on portraying the January 6, 2021 chaos at the Capitol as a serious effort to overthrow “democracy” and is only now beginning to realize that voters could care less. The unwelcome intrusion of reality into the bubble inhabited by the coastal cultural and political elite isn’t sitting well with many, including MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough who was flummoxed by the responses of a focus group

Nearly half of all vote-by-mail ballots in Pennsylvania had already been cast before Tuesday night’s U.S. Senate debate, which was judged a disaster — even by Democrats — after Lt. Gov. John Fetterman (D), recovering from a stroke, struggled to form coherent sentences. Fetterman had sought to avoid a debate, and his campaign has restricted his public appearances.. When he finally agreed to one, Democrats sought to delay the debate until ballots were already being cast by mail, since Democrats are more likely to use that method and more of the party’s vote would already be cast.

At this point, it would save everyone time if Democrats could simply point to a policy agenda item that isn’t going to save democracy — if such a thing exists. If Republicans vote, they are killing democracy. If they don’t vote, they are killing democracy. The only way to “save democracy,” writes The Washington Post’s Max Boot, is to empower one-party rule — a position that probably sounds counterintuitive to anyone with a middle-school education. “Now you need to vote to literally save democracy again,” contends President Joe Biden, or we will lose our “fundamental rights and freedoms like the right to choose, the right to privacy, the right to vote

John Fetterman obviously hoped that by lowering expectations for last night’s debate with Dr. Oz and by having a closed captioning system with 2 70-inch monitors, he could convince Pennsylvania voters that he was healthy enough to discharge the duties of US Senator.
