Ron DeSantis Takes Charlie Crist Apart

Ron DeSantis and Charlie Crist faced off on Monday evening in the first and only gubernatorial debate of the cycle. With just two weeks remaining for election day, it was the final chance for Crist to showcase his candidacy in the face of the incumbent governor’s bully pulpit. How did it go for the Democrat? People will have to make up their own minds on that, but for my money, the beatdown by DeSantis was so thorough that I almost don’t even know where to begin. Crist was pretty much lying when he began his answers and did not directly answer but brought up what seemed to be a constant referral to womens rights/abortion etc. Also Crists supporters kept cheering clapping loudly drowning out the first half or more of Governor DeSantis responses to every question. Their resistance tactic was obvious.

I lost count, but I think Crist mentioned abortion at least 7 or 8 times. HIs fan at the base of the podium was weird. I thought the moderator did an OK job but could have been better in keeping the audience quiet. As another poster stated, some of DeSantis' comments were drowned out by the raucous clapping and yelling.

Florida Household here at I-4 & I-95. 2 solid votes for Gov Ron. We watched the debate and agree with the assessment here - However, here's a thought. The Gov looked a bit off - nervous? A bit shifty eyed. Now he was being unfairly maligned at a constant rate so it had to be frustrating. There's been a debate in our house about 2024. I am solid behind Trump while spouse was saying 'Trump's too blustery' and Ron might be a better choice. I asked her after this debate whether she still thought RD was ready for running for POTUS. Obviously, he needs more seasoning and that's ok by us having Gov Ron another 4 years.

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the kingdom’s 37-year-old ruler, has reportedly mocked President Biden in private while questioning his mental state, a move that could fracture U.S.-Saudi relations at a time when the partnership is being tested following a move by OPEC+ to cut oil production and harsh criticism of the regime by American lawmakers. The Wall Street Journal reported that several people inside the Saudi government said the prince preferred former President Trump and has seemed unimpressed with Biden since his days as vice president while also making fun of his gaffes.

Democratic consultant and political commentator James Carville said Monday on MSNBC’s “The Beat” that the Democratic party needs to stop listening to “elite coastal people” who push identity politics. Thursday on MSNBC, former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean said, “I’ll make this prediction right now. We’ll pick up two to three in the Senate and pick up the House. We will pick up seats in the House and not lose them.” Carville said, “I agree with you if we execute an obvious strategy that is right in front of us. But if we keep this kind of NPR foundation strategy of identity left politics, we’re going to lose.
Europe now has a natural gas oversupply

We all know how this has played out. This summer Russia started monkeying with the natural gas supply to Germany and the rest of Europe, claiming there was some technical problem that required maintenance. Then they cut the gas off completely and not long after that someone blew up the Nord Stream pipeline. The result of all this has been a huge spike in energy prices in Europe and concern that there might not be enough gas to heat homes this winter. But here we are in late October and the situation is looking very different. For one thing, Europe has mostly filled the underground gas storage tanks for the winter.

I think once we get past the midterms, there’s likely to be a countdown to when the Democrats finally start being honest about Joe Biden to sweep him to the side because of his issues. Of course, their bigger problem is that they don’t have good replacements for him. His second, Kamala Harris, has her own issues stringing together coherent sentences and doing anything that isn’t a failure. She’s also as unpopular as Joe Biden. So it doesn’t help them much. All the other possibilities, like Gavin Newsom or Pete Buttigieg, are second or third-string at best. But whoever is looking better get on it, because it’s clear

The White House delivered a statement to Fox News correspondent Jacqui Heinrich on Monday asserting that President Biden had been referring to the Inflation Reduction Act when he claimed during a recent interview that student-loan forgiveness had “passed” Congress by a “vote or two.” “The President was referring to the Inflation Reduction Act, which reduced the deficit by hundreds of millions of dollars, creating room for other crucial programs. As you know, no Republicans voted for the Inflation Reduction Act in the House or the Senate, where it passed by a single tie-breaking vote by Vice President Harris,” read the statement.

WBD has been engaged in what it has called a “global strategic review of content” since the WarnerMedia deal closed, canceling projects, nixing development and shelving unproductive library content. In its first quarter after the deal closed, it disclosed an $825 million writedown on content, and a substantially similar number is expected in in its Q3 report.

Two major Texas newspapers tell contrasting stories in their endorsements for the gubernatorial race. Republican incumbent Governor Greg Abbott is running for re-election. His Democrat challenger is Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke. The Dallas Morning News (DMN) endorsed Governor Abbott. The Houston Chronicle endorsed O’Rourke. Go figure. Both Dallas and Houston are Democrat-led big cities. Houston is traditionally a bit more liberal than Dallas, but in these endorsements, you’d think that Dallas is a conservative city. It is not, by the way, so keep that in mind. The Houston Chronicle endorses Democrats over Republicans on a regular basis. So, when a conservative garners its endorsement, it is worth noting.

On Thursday, a panel of judges on the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals unanimously rejected a request by Graham to temporarily block the subpoena, which calls for the senator to testify on Nov. 17

Republican lawmakers have introduced more than a dozen impeachment resolutions targeting Biden, Kamala Harris, and controversial Cabinet members, including Attorney General Merrick Garland, Secretary of State Antony Blinken,

Washington — Plastic recycling rates are declining even as production shoots up, according to a Greenpeace USA report out Monday that blasted industry claims of creating an efficient, circular economy as "fiction." Titled "Circular Claims Fall Flat Again," the study found that of 51 million tons of plastic waste generated by U.S. households in 2021, only 2.4 million tons were recycled, or around five percent. After peaking in 2014 at 10 percent, the trend has been decreasing, especially since China stopped accepting the West's plastic waste in 2018. Virgin production — of non-recycled plastic, that is — meanwhile is rapidly rising as the
