Boston University researchers claim to
have developed new, more lethal COVID
strain in lab

Researchers at Boston University say they have developed a new COVID strain that has an 80% kill rate following a series of similar experiments first thought to have started the global pandemic that began in China. The variant, a combination of Omicron and the original virus in Wuhan, killed 80% of the mice infected with it, the university said. When mice were only exposed to Omicron, they experienced mild symptoms. The research was conducted by a team of scientists from Florida and Boston at the school's National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories. They extracted the spike protein from Omicron and attached it with the strain first detected at the onset

The fact that Fox does not link to the original paper suggests that this is just more disinformation intended to frighten the public. COVID in mice is not transmissible to humans any more than COVID in bats is. The Wuhan lab experiments were designed to take a bat virus and modify to be highly infectious specifically to humans while bypassing the normal zoogenic processes that mutate naturally and degrade in lethality. No intermediate species has ever been found for the Wuhan virus in nature.

The mice that were used in the lab were from lines that had been genetically modified to express the human ACE2 reception used by the Omicron spike protein. This suggests that the variant would be infectious to humans if they were exposed. The mice lines have also been modified to be more susceptible to SARS-COV-2 than healthy humans so the lethality percentages would be much lower in humans. Until I see the original paper from Boston University, I remain skeptical that these articles are the full intent of the research.

Using a "fact check" to deceive 1 reply

“Fact checks” are almost always intended to deceive or distract you. During the Trump Administration, every “fact checker” in America needed you to know that every bit of hyperbole Donald Trump spewed out was a “lie,” not an intentional exaggeration for effect and that the Babylon Bee was not a credible news source. Fact checks, in other words, are about spinning you. Misleading you. Burning up straw men and then declaring victory. They are bullcrap, in other words. The latest BS is Reuters spinning the insane decision by the Centers for Disease Control to recommend that all school children be vaccinated in order to attend public schools.

Unsurprising, given that he pretty much single handedly created a real market for electric cars and is aiming to become a clean energy superpower using solar panels and battery storage. He supported Democrats both rhetorically and financially until recently, and was well regarded as a success story. I am personally a fan more for his amazing success in revolutionizing the space industry. This year and last he has put twice as much mass into orbit than the rest of world combined. Congressional Democrats have nearly wrapped up the political circus generally known as the Jan. 6 Committee. That panel was supposed to look into the allegedly democracy-shaking events of Jan. 6, 2021. Though this has been called an “insurrection,” it was closer to a campus mob occupying the dean’s office than a coup d’etat. The actual violence that day pales in comparison to the bloody and fiery riots that raged across American cities in 2020, with approval, tacit and otherwise, from Democratic politicians and media (who described those riots as “fiery but mostly peaceful”).

Washington, DC - President Joe Biden falsely claimed Friday that the Supreme Court sided with his student debt transfer, because Justice Amy Coney Barrett had no choice but to reject one lawsuit because of a jurisdictional issue, while other challenges may succeed. Biden claimed at a political event Friday that the justices have ruled in favor of his program, saying, “Just yesterday … the Supreme Court said, ‘No, we’re on Biden’s side.’” That is false. When the Supreme Court declines to grant an emergency stay it does not indicate what the court thinks about the merits of the case. If Joe Biden disgusts us with stubborn willingness to sacrifice the entire economy for the sake of his greenie, open-borders, big-spending, agenda, note that Democrats have it in for him, too. For Democrats, their logic is that Joe has sacrificed their political power for the sake of his greenie, open-borders, big-spending agenda. They cite 'inflation,' forgetting that they were the ones who enacted the big spending that triggered the inflation and Joe embraced, and somehow, Joe hasn't magically stopped it.
