Hurricane Myths

Original Article

Hurricane Ian is gone, but the media's myths about hurricanes live on. Reporters say the federal government must direct disaster response, as if only the feds have the knowledge and money to do it. "Debate is already growing about how big federal aid must be," says CNN. Why?! Don't they know that government has no money of its own? That everything federal bureaucrats spend is taken from the rest of us? They don't think about that. Federal "disaster relief" is doled out after storms because, as a New York Times headline put it, "A Big Storm Requires Big Government." But it doesn't. My video this week debunks four myths about hurricanes.

Comments:

Stossel starts off with myth #1 about big hurricanes requiring the aid of the fed aka incompetent FEMA. Excellent article.

The biggest myth is that hurricanes are becoming more numerous and more powerful because of climate change. It's an outright lie, but that doesn't prevent fools and power-hungry politicians like Biden (who is both) from claiming it.

Reply 2 clicked this in my mind: I was pondering why the polls are so close for the Senate race since we’re all aware of the imbecility of the democrat party. It’s the dumbing down of our education for the last fifty years. We have two generations of ignoramuses who are allowed to vote! The vote cheating goes with it because morality and integrity declined along with the degradation of our schools.

People demand government do something when disaster strikes. I've heard some people demanding government do something to restore their stock market losses. Others want the housing market propped up. And these aren't commie Dems, either. We're all socialists now.

Florida is a huge sand bar - - which sticks out into the Atlantic Ocean. It's highest natural point is about 50m feet above sea level. It has no natural drainage - - because there is no high land - - and no rocky subsurface. If you live in Florida - - you know there will be occasional massive flooding events. So - - why should anyone who doesn't live in Florida - - have to pay for their flood cleanups? Choose to live in Florida - - pay the price when flooding occurs.

If you didn't have insurance. it's on you, NOT on the taxpayers. Just stop this. The government is not an insurance company against all things. If you want insurance, buy some.

We all pay a fortune in federal taxes. If the Feds didn’t take so much money, we would all bhave more money to pay for our own tecovery. After sending so much to Washington, we expect them to pay. Just like any insurance policy. And like insurance, they never want to pay. They take a fortune in annual “premiums”.

Wisconsin Judge Rules That Electors Cannot

In a win for election integrity, absentee voters can no longer change their vote after submitting their ballots, a Wisconsin judge has ruled. As previously reported, Restoring Integrity and Trust in Elections (RITE) filed a lawsuit against the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) for its unlawful guidance that allowed absentee voters to change their vote after their ballot had already been cast. The guidance also allows election officials to “spoil” the old ballot on behalf of the voter, creating an environment ripe for voter fraud and confusion. Such a directive violated Wisconsin statute, which states that a voter possesses the exclusive authority to spoil his absentee ballot before it is submitted, not after.

Florida’s chief financial officer and state fire marshal, Jimmy Patronis, took to Twitter on Oct. 6 to warn of the increased numbers of incidents in which electric vehicle batteries have corroded amid the storm, prompting fires to begin. “There’s a ton of EVs disabled from Ian. As those batteries corrode, fires start. That’s a new challenge that our firefighters haven’t faced before,” Patronis said. “At least on this kind of scale.” Patronis shared a video alongside the tweet showing firefighters from the North Collier Fire Rescue (NCFR)
