Has Biden Crossed the Rubicon?

Original Article

When body-armored paramilitary agents with automatic weapons showed up to raid the house of Donald Trump, former president and rival of sitting U.S. President Joe Biden, many conservatives likened it to the beginning of a banana-republic rule in our country. Conservative columnist George Will is more measured in calling it one more colossal blunder on the part of the Biden administration. Blunder or political move, the weaponization of the legal system for political motives has caused civil wars and destroyed at least one law-based republic in history.

It must be de riguer behavior on the part of commentators to be dismissive of DJT. I suppose if they didn’t say so, they wouldn’t receive those coveted cocktail party invitations.

the demcommies remind me of the VC and NVA, in Vietnam when they would send small groups of troops to test the US troops finding where the weaknesses and the strengths of the US troop were and it was the same with the Japanese and the Chicoms in Korea. everything the demcommies do is measured and calculated to weaken and create self doubt in the repubs and the rest of us, this is the basis of Guerilla warfare when you know you're outgunned and outsmarted, using tact as a weapon is the most intelligent way to operate in any conflict and the repubs aren't doing that

FTA: "By creating a separation of powers, our American Founding Fathers attempted to prevent a recurrence of the Roman tragedy. For nearly two and a half centuries, it has worked, but the raid on Mar-a-Lago last week signifies a very dangerous potential precedent." This has nothing to do with the separation of powers. The judicial branch approved the executive branch's request for a search warrant. Meanwhile, Congress is largely quiescent, it's UNIPARTY leadership gets the game afoot. This is all about '24 and the threat of Napoleon to return from Elbe at the head of his Grande Armee awaiting his command. It's not going to be allowed. It's one thing to rail on and endorse candidates. (We've seen how that works with past endorsements of Mitch, Mitt and now Tim Scott.) It's another to make another run for the Presidency. His own attorney has recently advised him it would all go away if he declared he would not run in '24. The day he declares one can expect an indictment and perp walk to follow shortly. In the meantime, remember to keep your powder dry. We've been told by "real conservative" pundits it's all a trap...the question is who's trapping who by standing down.

Alright just STOP it already! Until a couple days ago nobody had ever heard of the Rubicon. Now it is in every other article and is being said by everyone. Is Rubicon the new "fun" thing to say? Is it like gravitas, collusion, and a hundred other words that got overused to the point of exhaustion over the years. Why dont we try a little creativity, hmmm? How about "point of no return" or "fail safe point"?

Kim Kardashian schooled Hillary Clinton in a test of legal knowledge in an episode of Clinton’s upcoming Apple TV+ documentary series, according to a recent interview with People magazine. The former secretary of state went toe-to-toe with Kardashian, the reality TV star and criminal justice reform advocate, in a pop quiz on criminal law issues like use of deadly force and self-defense. Kardashian, who last year passed the baby bar exam after completing her first year in a law apprenticeship program, beat the Yale Law graduate 11-4. Clinton described the loss as "heartbreaking," in the interview with People.

In a three-minute press conference following the FBI raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, Attorney General Merrick Garland cut a defiant figure, condemning critics of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI: “I will not stand by silently when their integrity is unfairly attacked.” He then left the stage without taking questions or answering that criticism. It was a signature moment for Garland, who often responds to controversies with belated, rote remarks. His brief comments had all of the substance of a Hallmark card that read, “Trust us, we’re the government.” Yet trust has to be earned, not simply demanded

The FBI's nine-hour, 30-agent raid of the former president's Florida estate is part of a counter-intelligence case run out of Washington – not Miami, as has been widely reported – according to FBI case documents and sources with knowledge of the matter. The bureau's counterintelligence division led the 2016-2017 Russia "collusion" investigation of Trump, codenamed "Crossfire Hurricane."

Inflation accelerated once again last month to a 40-year high as the Consumer Price Index rose 9.1% from one year ago, forcing poor, elderly and middle-class Americans to confront harsh realities to pay for necessities. Today, it costs 12.2% more to put food on the table at home, about 60% more to drive to work and 2.8% more to take public transit than it did just last year. Families are turning to food banks for help in unprecedented numbers, with donors and foundations rising to meet the challenge. But even charitable dollars can’t escape the corrosive impacts of inflation. In this land of plenty, 2022 may be the hungriest summer

The surest sign that public policies are simply virtue signals is when the messages don't cost anything. The easiest way to tell when that signal starts to fail is to watch politicians flounder as the costs start to rise and voters demand relief. It was free—and meaningless—for progressive churches to post banners calling themselves "nuclear free zones" during the Reagan era. Their dwindling congregations loved it. It was free, after George Floyd's murder, to post woke catechism signs on your front lawn, proclaiming "In this house, we believe: Black Lives Matter, women's rights are human rights, no human is illegal" and so on. Maybe the neighbors gave you high-fives.

Rep. Liz Cheney is expected to lose by at least 20 points in today’s primary in Wyoming. But she doesn’t seem to really care. Long known in D.C. circles as hating interactions with Americans outside the beltway, representing Wyoming voters was not something she ever considered a particularly important aspect of her role in D.C. Listening to the corporate media and the D.C. establishment, one would think Cheney is history’s greatest hero, a political martyr who put “principle over party,” and who courageously stood up against Republican voters and their strong support of the party’s most recent president, support which Beltway insiders find unseemly. Nothing symbolizes the decline of the American republic better than the weaponization of justice that we saw last week when the FBI raided the home of former President Trump. And nothing better represents the divide that now exists between Democrats and Republicans than the fact that some people still have faith in the FBI. Aren’t they paying attention? Heck, that's like a citizen of the old Soviet Union saying they had faith in the KGB – yeah, to crush dissent and lock up opponents of the regime in a Siberian gulag. The evidence is overwhelming. An op-ed in the Washington Post has argued that men in women’s sports could actually be a good thing for young girls by teaching them the art of losing gracefully. According to Alyssa Rosenberg, the aim of school athletics is not to teach children the art of achieving excellence but rather to build character, and what better way to build character in a teenage girl than having her experience the frustration of losing that championship title to a biological male? Her argument largely hinges on the unicorn of “sports-crazed parents” who will theoretically use transgender athletes in women’s sports as an excuse in the event their daughter loses.
