US readies $1bn weapons package for Ukraine: Report

The United States is preparing a new $1bn security assistance package for Ukraine, which will include munitions for long-range weapons and armoured medical transport vehicles, according the Reuters news agency. The package would be one of the largest so far and is expected to be announced as early as Monday, three sources briefed on the matter told Reuters. The US has given about $8.8bn in aid to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion on February 24. The officials, speaking to Reuters on the condition of anonymity, said that President Joe Biden had not yet signed the next weapons package, and cautioned that weapons packages can change in value and content before they are signed.

Why bother because Putin has already won. This is really all about funding the global military-industrial complex. Mitch is all over it because he is heavily invested in it as well as the US Chamber of Crony Capitalists. They love cheap labor and are willing to go to any lengths to get all they want. $8.8B so far and what's another $1B this month anyway? A Billion a month is all they want. How long will this go on Joe? Another 20-year war we fund and not fight this time?

I suppose we should celebrate the joining together of our two political parties in the mutual chore of taking on Vladimir Putin. Not a one of the bipartisan gaggle of war mongers has presented a coherent rationale of why we, America, are leading the charge against Russia. The European Union has a much larger population than we do and has more money than we do. None of its members are as broke as us. The invasion happened to a European country by European country so the resolution should come from Europe. Of course, since the good old USA is picking up the bill the Euros let us run the show. Those countries are smart while we are, as always, suckers. Oh well, we can take comfort that our rapacious arms industry is evading the lousy Biden economy that we, the citizens, must endure.

There is something else going on here. Never have we sent so much money to a foreign country. We likely will never get it back. If they can't win the war with the untold billions we've already sent them, then no amount of money will help. We should not send another penny there.

This is the same thing the Democrats did in the lead up to the Civil War. They tried to strip the Union of its ability to wage war so that their Confederate forces would have a cakewalk when war came. The only issue is who they are setting us up for.

#4. "Ef the E.U." said Victoria Nuland, the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State (now) in 2013/14 when the U.S. arranged tooverthrow the Yanukovych Presidency (elected by the majority of Ukrainian voters). The E.U. is tied to NATO whose goal, now, is to destroy Russia. It wouldn't matter who the Russian President was. He or she would be vilified by the Grand Coalition of the West. The destruction of Russia by the West is not a new phenomenon. It is curiously quite common in history. The E.U. countries KNOW that the U.S. instigated this civil war in Ukraine. They just can't say it. The E.U. doesn't like Russia either... for whatever reason. They aren't eager to sacrifice their "sons" , their warriors, anymore than the U.S. government. So we pay for the Ukrainians to fight Russia. The big question which remains is "Why are we doing this?" Who wants war in the world?

I am getting sick of this enormous amount of spending. Yesterday I read an article that was posted here, that Zelensky wants to talk to China and wants to ask them to rebuild Ukraine. That is what we are getting from them? The Euros have said, enough is enough. The US as usual has to do the most only to be kicked by all of them including Ukraine itself. I say we have sent enough. We need money to build up our own army after we have gotten Austin's resignation.

Conservatives' Rush to Show How Gullible
They Are After Trump Raid

On Monday evening, the most brazen weaponization of the FBI ever took place after agents ransacked Donald Trump’s home in Florida, and that’s saying something given the rampant history of corruption and political targeting the bureau has dabbled in over the decades. While Trump himself was not there, the raid ostensibly surrounded possible violations of the Presidential Records Act, a dubious justification given such issues are typically handled in a civil manner. What probable cause did the FBI have that a crime had been committed? What was on the warrant used to execute the search and seizure? Those are the questions that gullible “conservatives” believe hold the key

At this point, it feels like we’re simply belaboring the obvious, but a new I&I/TIPP poll indicates that it’s increasingly clear to most of the country. Joe Biden has had too many instances where he’s attempted to shake hands with invisible people or trailed off and lost the thread in the middle of answering a question. Something isn’t right, and it’s no longer a simple matter of “charming gaffes” or incidents of stuttering. In some ways, his staff probably found it something of a relief when Biden came down with back-to-back cases of COVID because it kept him in isolation and mostly away from cameras and reporters.

The better question: Are they trying to hand Donald Trump the nomination in 2024? After news of the raid broke and leaks about its purpose began circulating yesterday evening, speculation about an attempt to disqualify Trump started circulating on social media. Attorney Marc Elias called it “a potential blockbuster”: Say … didn’t we have this debate six years ago, when the Department of Justice refused to charge or even “raid” Hillary Clinton for the same crime and others related to mishandling classified material? Indeed we did, Charlie Savage recounted almost immediately in the New York Times, and that legal theory was discredited:

Biden administration officials are set to announce Tuesday a new strategy to split monkeypox vaccine doses in hopes of vaccinating up to five times as many people against the virus, according to officials with direct knowledge of the plan. The strategy, first described publicly by Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Robert Califf last week, would allow the Biden administration to stretch its limited supply of monkeypox vaccines by changing how those shots are administered. Rather than inject doses of Jynneos subcutaneously, a traditional way of delivering vaccines into the fatty tissue under the skin, the doses would instead be injected under the top layer of the skin.

“An attack on one is an attack on all.” That keystone of the NATO charter in Article V has served as a deterrent for a major European war for nearly 80 years. Could a similar pact serve as a deterrent for boycott attacks on conservative states? Jonathan Turley looks at the political landscape, and especially the vapid boycotts imposed by equally vapid governors and legislatures on red states, and says it might work. This wouldn’t aim at private boycotts, but rather the state-to-state boycott actions championed by Democrat pols like Gavin Newsom and Stacey Abrams, about which Karen wrote earlier: Such campaigns have succeeded, particularly with private companies.

Indeed, even Biden himself can’t stop obsessing over Trump, bizarrely invoking him in recent comments he made about his recent bout with COVID. He also made sure that Democrats marked the anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2020 Capitol riot complete with a speech in which Trump was the focus and where Biden proclaimed Trump was responsible for the breach of the U.S. Capitol, something he reiterated during a virtual White House event in July.

On Monday evening, the FBI took the unprecedented step of raiding the home of former President Donald Trump. What were they looking for? Astonishingly, what is being leaked to the media is that they were after documents that possibly violated the Presidential Records Act. Far from their promises of proving some grand conspiracy involving January 6th, it appears the Democrats, using the power of the nation’s federal law enforcement apparatus, are trying to take Donald Trump out with selective enforcement of provisions that are normally handled in a civil, not criminal manner. Where have we seen that before? None of this is a coincidence, and none of it is justified.
