Turley: Time for a "NATO" of red states
to combat progressive boycotts

Original Article

Posted By: Dreadnought, 8/8/2022 10:35:41 PM

“An attack on one is an attack on all.” That keystone of the NATO charter in Article V has served as a deterrent for a major European war for nearly 80 years. Could a similar pact serve as a deterrent for boycott attacks on conservative states? Jonathan Turley looks at the political landscape, and especially the vapid boycotts imposed by equally vapid governors and legislatures on red states, and says it might work. This wouldn’t aim at private boycotts, but rather the state-to-state boycott actions championed by Democrat pols like Gavin Newsom and Stacey Abrams, about which Karen wrote earlier: Such campaigns have succeeded, particularly with private companies.

Time for a new confederation of states. Use South Carolina's Articles of Secession for the basis.

We need to have the Red States get their National Guard commanders together and work out a plan for when the time comes to protect us from the Blue States and the FBI.

How would a communist take-over of the U.S. look any different than what is still unfolding today? The obvious collusion of the democrat media, the administrative state led by a rogue, illegitimate presidential administration, and succored by marxists in Congress to destroy our great traditions and our unique Constitution is adequate justification for an armed "NATO" of red states. Put up or shut up time is upon us.

We used to be called a "Republic," but since Blue States ignore the U.S. Constitution, just as the North did before the War Between the States, we should do like Mr. Turley recommends.

Any governor could do this tomorrow by executive order. So, why don't they? Because the burden placed on USC or UCLA is not their burden, and nothing constricts their state's team's ability to travel to LA for games (and the big $$$). It just doesn't matter to them.

Politico: Don't buy Adams' spin on Abbott

“Get stuff done”? Hardly, as Politico reports this morning on Eric Adams’ attempts to deflect his own failures onto Greg Abbott. Texas has sent perhaps a few hundred illegal immigrants into New York City for the “sanctuary” that Mayor Adams proudly proclaimed last year, which Adams now blames for a breakdown in services to the homeless. That’s nonsense, reports Janaki Chadha. New York City’s shelter system began breaking down when Adams took office, and Adams hasn’t gotten any “stuff done” to resolve it — except to shift blame to Texas: New York City’s sprawling network of homeless shelters are bursting at the seams as rents skyrocket, evictions accelerate and a new mandate

I have to say, I’m kind of enjoying this whole Trump-FBI raid news cycle. It’s so patently absurd, but like a badly written TV show, you just feel like you’ve got to see through until the end. On Thursday, AG Merrick Garland finally spoke out while not really saying anything at all. He did agree to unseal the warrant used for the raid of Trump’s home, but he gave no details about what the FBI was after and what evidence they supposedly had to undergird their actions. It felt like an attempt to downplay the ordeal. Had the FBI failed to find what it was looking for? Then the leaks started

Anti-Trumpers on social media are thrilled outraged at the possibility that former President Donald Trump kept important documentation regarding America’s nuclear weapons at Mar-a-Lago. After The Washington Post published an article reporting that “[c]lassified documents relating to nuclear weapons were among the items FBI agents sought in a search of former president Donald Trump’s Florida residence on Monday,” Trump haters issued a barrage of hot takes on the matter, hoping this component of the story would be one of several smoking guns that will finally take down the Orange Man What Is Bad™.
IRS Hiring Spree Is the Biggest Expansion

The Democrats’ new reconciliation bill isn’t just going to be the largest-ever expansion of a government agency. It’s going to be the largest expansion of the domestic police state in American history. Only a statist could believe that a federal government, which already collects $4.1 trillion every year — or $12,300 for every citizen — supposedly needs 80 battalions of new IRS cops. The average American has less reason to be concerned about cops with guns — though the IRS is looking for special agents who can “carry a firearm and be willing to use deadly force, if necessary” — than they do bureaucrats armed with

Washington - Former President Donald Trump called late Thursday for the “immediate” release of the federal warrant the FBI used to search his Florida estate, hours after the Justice Department had asked a court to unseal the warrant, with Attorney General Merrick Garland citing the “substantial public interest in this matter.” In messages posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote, “Not only will I not oppose the release of documents … I am going a step further by ENCOURAGING the immediate release of those documents.” He continued to assail the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago as “unAmerican, unwarranted and unnecessary.” “Release the documents now!” he wrote.

A plurality of Americans say immigration is making the country “Worse off.” The polling data reveals a large 28-point shift since late 2019 in public judgment about the value of the government’s decades-long policy of pulling economic migrants into Americans’ society. Thirty-five percent of the respondents said immigration makes the United States “Worse off,” while 31 percent said immigration makes the U.S. “Better off,” according to the July 23-26 poll of 1,500 citizens. “The number of Americans who believe that immigration has made the United States worse off has nearly doubled in less than three years, while the percentage who thought it made America better off dropped by nearly a quarter,”

I wrote earlier about how outraged Americans have been by the FBI raid on President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. It was a grievous mistake that awakened the sleeping giant. The new Trafalgar/COSProject poll shows that it has increased the desire of Republicans and independents to vote and the majority of those people believe this is an action against Trump by his political enemies. That was also a poll weighted toward Democrats, so it was all the more significant. As the president of Convention of States Action Mark Meckler explained in a statement about the poll, “This gestapo-style injustice has created a voting surge that is so significant, the polling doesn’t

There is much to be said about the FBI’s raid on Donald Trump’s home. I won’t try to say it all here. These are a few observations, based on what we know currently: * To get a search warrant, you have to identify a crime that has been committed, and explain how evidence you are looking for is relevant to that crime. At this point, we don’t know what purported crime was the basis for the Mar-a-Lago search warrant. * Earlier today, Attorney General Merrick Garland delivered a brief statement to the press, and declined to take questions. He looked remarkably nervous and said hardly anything. Only two points

Democrats may be chortling about Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Largo home being searched by the FBI, but you have to wonder how happy they’ll be in January 2023 when the new Republican House majority uses the full scope of its power to investigate Hunter Biden’s influence-peddling and his father’s furthering his son’s crooked business interests. My guess is that there won’t be a lot of jolliness from Democrats once Hunter and Joe’s dirty laundry is aired. Democrats will claim that the GOP’s sudden interest in Hunter Biden is hypocritical because they never bothered to investigate Trump’s kids when he was in office. The difference is simple: Trump’s kids weren’t trying to sell access

Former White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said Thursday on CNN’s “New Day” that someone very close to former President Donald Trump must have been the FBI informant. Keilar asked, “This is someone with knowledge inside who told the feds that there was additional material at Mar-a-Lago, directed them where it should be, clearly was concerned enough to tell them this information they should have besides the 15 boxes of material they got in the winter. Does that change your mind? Is that now sufficient when you have someone actually aligned with him drawing the attention of the feds to these documents?”

If Donald Trump was going to run again, we assumed that the media would once again be the former president's largest pool of support, unwittingly, of course, with the nonstop negative coverage that would have only pushed more voters into his corner. Matt Taibbi noted that they're the "kingmakers of suck," arrogant, and more concerned with expounding on their moral superiority than covering the elections properly. Post-Russian collusion hoax, no one believes them, as evidenced by the appalling trust numbers the American public has given this industry over the past five or so years. That all ended last night.

Though all that seems to have happened during the banana republic-like raid, the FBI did something else, something even more horrific: it rooted through Melania Trump’s clothes, rifling through her outfits and underwear in what can be interpreted as nothing other than a gross attempt at humiliating the former president and his family.

The irony has been remarkable from the moment the Brittney Griner Saga began in February. Griner, the multimillionaire professional women’s basketball player who became phenomenally wealthy in America, showed complete disdain for her homeland when she was living here. She refused to even enter sporting arenas until after our National Anthem was played. Griner, who is both black and lesbian, objected to the imaginary systemic racism that Democrats and their media fed her. She was vocal in her defiance and suggested that we shouldn’t even be playing the National Anthem before sporting events.
