Fact Check: Ohio’s Tim Ryan Voted To
Allow Emergency Reserve Oil To Be Sent

The campaign manager for Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan’s Senate bid denied the congressman voted on legislation barring oil from the nation’s strategic petroleum reserves be shipped to China. Ryan, however, voted with 218 of his Democrat colleagues to veto such a motion brought forward by California Republican Congressman David Valadao on Wednesday. On Twitter, Rep. Ryan’s campaign chief, Dave Chase, responded to a post from rival GOP Senate candidate J.D. Vance’s press account which called out Ryan for the vote. Chase called the attack an example of Vance “being a fraud and running a terrible race.”

Comments:

Ryan is a dunce. A very unpleasant dunce.

China gives a devastating disease costing us so much of our lives. And China offers no remorse. What do we do? Give China some of our stockpile of oil! What the hell is that all about? Next thing you know, we will be giving a terrorist state the bomb. Oh wait, we did that! Here’s to you, Obama and Iran! Here’s to you!

A schism characterized by documents on “grace through separation” has brought forth a lawsuit. In Florida, 106 churches sued the United Methodist Church (UMC) because it charged them large amounts of money to leave, according to a recently filed lawsuit. The National Center for Life and Liberty (NCLL) represents these churches. The departure price varies from church to church, said Jonathan Bailie, the chief operations and financial officer of the NCLL. Some congregations must pay over $1 million, while others must pay under $100,000, he clarified. But in previous decades, leaving the UMC has been free.

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin once said the key element of his life was “timing … I have been blessed to have been in the right place at the right time.” It is the same defining element of Hunter Biden’s life: No matter what crime or corruption is alleged, he has escaped responsibility, often by pure political serendipity. Now, according to various media outlets, time may be running out for Hunter, with a federal investigation entering a “critical stage” — yet timing still could be on Hunter’s side. Hunter has always had impeccable timing and, like Blanche DuBois, “always depended on the kindness of strangers.”

n paper, it looked like a fantastic deal. In 2017, the Chinese government was offering to spend $100 million to build an ornate Chinese garden at the National Arboretum in Washington DC. Complete with temples, pavilions and a 70-foot white pagoda, the project thrilled local officials, who hoped it would attract thousands of tourists every year.       But when US counterintelligence officials began digging into the details, they found numerous red flags. The pagoda, they noted, would have been strategically placed on one of the highest points in Washington DC, just two miles from the US Capitol, a perfect spot for signals intelligence collection, multiple sources familiar with the episode told CNN.

Just before 8 p.m., the Fort Worth Fire Department received multiple calls about black smoke coming from the vacant building at 1400 Henderson St., the department said in a Facebook post. President Joe Biden said Monday that Republicans who voted against banning assault rifles are not on the side of police in America. Speaking virtually to attendees at the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives conference in Orlando, Florida, Biden said that Republicans who refused to ban so-called “weapons of war” are not telling the truth when they claim to support law enforcement. In particular, Biden called out Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott (R-FL) for refusing to support Democrats’ gun control efforts. “Being a cop today is a hell of a lot harder than it’s ever been,” Biden said during his speech.

The leak rocked the federal judiciary, the American political scene, and led to an ugly campaign to intimidate Supreme Court justices, inspiring one assassination plot that thankfully went nowhere. Chief Justice John Roberts promised an investigation to identify the leaker, and the pool of suspects seemed relatively small — the justices themselves and their clerks. Almost three months later, though, the leaker has seemingly escaped detection and punishment. Are they even still investigating the leak? The Associated Press can’t even get an answer to that question from the court:

But the AFPI Trojan Horse—whose leadership is now bragging about how it will staff Trump’s “shadow cabinet”—is decidedly not that.

Author Jeffrey Frank has written two biographies of American presidents, one about Harry S. Truman and another about the relationship between Dwight D. Vice President Kamala Harris, who was a first-term senator from California before entering the White House, hasn’t been given the sort of immersive experiences or sustained, high-profile tasks that would deepen and broaden her expertise in ways Americans could see and appreciate. In the modern era, of course, a 68-day trip for a vice president would be laughable.
