Rory McIlroy's quest to end an eight-year wait for a major triumph took a huge step closer after a stunning round of golf on day three at The Open as he and Viktor Hovland now share a four-shot lead going into Sunday's final round. Australian Cameron Smith had led by two strokes at the end of round two, finishing on 13 under, but he and Cameron Young will be the penultimate pair to tee off tomorrow having carded rounds of 73 and 71 respectively on Saturday. McIlroy hasn’t had a major win since 2014 when he won the PGA Championship, but his round of 66 that included five birdies and

Much great golf was played today. Tomorrow will be fun whether one is a player or a spectator. Tee it up if you can, or tune in if you can't. As our grammar school athletic director (and coach of several sports) used to say, "If you can't be an athlete, at least be an athletic supporter." It was fun to be a jock in school. Even more fun now.

I will be in despair over the fact the Really Fragile Rory is tied for the lead. Fortunately, my despair will disappear tomorrow, when really fragile Rory will once again collapse in a major. I am perked up just by the thought...

What fun! Some great golf and some pretty big goofs. The raucous crowd help a lot too. Can't wait to see the final round tomorrow. Most likely it's Rory's tournament to win or lose. But who know somebody goes out early and shoots really low and all bets are off.

Not as watchable without Tiger and Phil (who actually won a few years ago). Love the location, the weather changes tomorrow morning from sunny to rainy.

What would really make heads spin is if Dustin Johnson got on a streak and moved up from 6 strokes back. NBC has been very careful to not give too much love to the heretics like DJ that signed on to the LIV tournament. They didn't show any of the LIV players on Peacock as featured groups especially Phil who didn't make the cut. This level of woke politics is poison for the game and may be illegal under the anti-trust laws. The commentators berate the players who took "dirty money" from the Saudi sovereign fund LIV sponsors as if they had tortured Khashoggi themselves. Bannon has been making the point that nobody is complaining about Biden getting on his knees to MBS to pump more Saudi oil. One of the LIV players at the Open must have heard him because he sent Bannon one of the official Open shirts/

Rory mouthed off about President Trump. Then Mr. expert on everything expressed self-righteous opposition to the Georgia voting law. McIlroy knows nothing about that law. I hope he fades tomorrow.

Iran Admits It Has the Technical Capabilities

A senior adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told Qatar’s al Jazeera TV on Sunday that Iran is technically capable of building a nuclear weapon. Iran has been denying any interest in constructing a nuclear weapon. The CIA claims a nascent Iranian bomb program was shut down in 2003. Nonetheless, the regime assembled a nuclear infrastructure capable of putting all the pieces in place for building a weapon as soon as it was able to enrich uranium to the 90% level. Now, Iran just activated nearly 200 advanced centrifuges that would give them the capability of spinning up enough highly enriched, bomb-grade uranium in a matter of days.

As a conservative profoundly involved in the “culture wars,” I have come to realize that the problem I have is not with liberals, Leftists, apostles of Woke, and other assorted ideologues and disreputables. I expect nothing from them but deceit, vulgarity, hate-spew, and ignorance, and so do not feel especially shocked by their behavior. The problem I have is with conservatives, too many of whom do not appear to fully honor conservative principles and values. They often seem to temporize with their antagonists, can act at times quite autocratically, and are occasionally distressingly superficial in their assessments of contemporary events. I came across a very enlightening video featuring gun rights advocate and lawyer Colion Noir. With the ongoing debate over guns and the right to bear arms, it is essential that those who exercise their Second Amendment rights understand the legalities associated with carrying a concealed firearm. When I became a first-time gun owner last September, I sought out as much advice on the matter as I could. I was immediately struck by the number of people who told me how many buy guns and rarely train with them. It was also concerning to me that many don’t understand that even in cases in which self-defense seems obvious,

Australia’s Cameron Smith leads the 150th British Open at the halfway stage after a superb second round of 64 on Friday left him on 13 under par for the tournament, while Cameron Young and Rory McIlroy lurk just behind, but an emotional Tiger Woods failed to make the weekend. Smith, the world number six with the trademark mullet, followed an opening 67 with an eight-under-par second round to lead by two strokes from Young, the 25-year-old New Yorker. Brisbane-native Smith’s round on Friday featured six birdies – including at each of the first three holes – an eagle at the par-five 14th, and no dropped shots.

I’ve written more than once that the Associated Press is our number one source of liberal press bias, so this comes as a surprise. At a time when the Left is trying to use gun control to stave off electoral disaster, the AP unexpectedly gets rational: "The Stylebook's weapons entry offers guidance on terms including semi-automatic rifle, assault rifle, assault weapon, military-style rifle and modern sporting rifle." (Snip) “Avoid assault rifle and assault weapon, which are highly politicized terms….” Exactly. There is literally no such thing as an “assault rifle” or “assault weapon.” These are made-up political phrases that have no meaning in the real world.
Biden's Real Problem Isn't Age. It's Biden. 18 replies

Republicans in 2020 attacked Biden over his age. Now Democrats are doing it, insisting that he shouldn't run because he's "too old". (Why Biden and not Pelosi and Clyburn to name a few in the House Dem leadership alone?) I've had as much fun cracking senility jokes as anyone else, but tracking Biden's career, he spent his Senate era telling crazy lies, spewing word salads, rambling inanely and generally embarrassing himself and everyone around him. This isn't a recent development. Talking about Biden's age is a copout. The real issue with Biden isn't that he's old, it's who he is and who he's always been, corrupt, egotistical and utterly over his head.

New York’s bizarro governor, radical Democrat Kathy Hochul, whose party just rammed totalitarian anti-gun laws through the state legislature in Albany, seems to thinks she’s Jesus Christ. Is this characterization of Hochul hyperbole? Decide for yourself. In a wildly under-reported public sermon last year, Hochul zealously denounced the unvaccinated, accusing them of defying God’s will. The unvaccinated people she vilified are her own constituents. They have good reasons, religious or medical or otherwise, for avoiding the various vaccines, all of which have been shown to have serious side effects. The fact they reject the vaccines should not be her concern, but that would not be in keeping with leftist public health dogma,

As the Hunter Biden story continues to explode in scandal and scope, it’s becoming impossible to hide. Even if Fake News and Big Tech keep up their efforts to suppress it, it’s so vast and egregious that it’s going to erupt into a campaign issue in the fall — and Democrats can’t have that. I previously predicted that party handlers would keep Biden in place until after the midterm elections, then use him as a sop for all the Democrat’s failure vibes before jettisoning him ahead of the 2024 election season. But now, I don’t think they can wait that long: Hunter’s laptop and iPhone disaster is ballooning out of control.

For decades, states have competed with one another for businesses by touting local economic advantages in areas like taxation, development incentives, workforce quality, and regulatory policy. Occasionally, states would also pitch themselves to firms on more general principles like quality of life and public investment in schools and infrastructure. Now the battle for jobs and for wealthier residents has taken a new turn, reflecting the increasingly intense cultural wars playing out in America. Facing a steadily more difficult economic battlefield, governors of Democratic-led states are pitching businesses based on social issues: access to abortion, transgender rights, and voting laws.

The Left has a rather schizophrenic attitude toward protests and demonstrations. Some are wonderful, like the George Floyd riots, which were not, in fact, protests at all. Or like arson and other destruction committed at pro-life facilities. Others are detestable, like the Dutch farmers’ protests, or the French “yellow vests,” or the Canadian truckers. Some protests, too, can only be ignored, like when hundreds of thousands of pro-life citizens show up for their annual march in Washington. Currently the Left is “demonstrating” against the Supreme Court justices who concurred in the Dobbs decision. A few nights ago, as Scott has noted, left-wingers harassed Justice Brett

Three months ago in our quarterly list of the top 10 most likely Democratic candidates for president in 2024, we changed things up. For a while, we had been ranking only the candidates not named Joe Biden. In the seemingly unlikely scenario he didn’t run again, the idea was, here’s who would be next in line. But that scenario seemed to be growing more likely, so we decided to also include Biden on the list. The reason: There might come a time when the incumbent president isn’t the most likely nominee the next time around, for whatever reason. And his

The conservative radio legend, who died in February 2021, snapped up the 24,000-square-foot main house on Palm Beach's North Ocean Boulevard for $3.9 million in 1998, and has since bought up four neighboring properties to build a 2.7-acre estate, with an asking price of between $150 million and $175 million.
