Former President Donald Trump warned against voting for Kathy Barnette in Pennsylvania’s Republican Senate primary in a statement Thursday with less than a week to go before the election.Trump, who has endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz in the race, contended that Barnette is incapable of winning in the general election against the “Radical Left Democrats,” whose candidate is likely to be Lt. Gov. John Fetterman.“Kathy Barnette will never be able to win the General Election against the Radical Left Democrats,” Trump stated. His warning comes after Barnette surged in recent polls in a race that had initially been a two-way competition between Oz and businessman David McCormick.

Trump may well be right. On the other hand, everyone said the same thing about him in 2016

Some here and elsewhere have already opined that they believed this would be the case, thus PDJT’s endorsement of Oz.

As for me, I am DONE with "voting for the lesser of two evils"! I am not voting for evil ever again!!! If I have the opportunity to vote for someone who is not evil, but has little chance according to the polls, I would do it and hope that God moved many others to join me. Barnette is polling surprisingly well, and Trump is trying to justify his poor decision. Trump needs to wake up - he is losing support with these ill advised endorsements and continued promotion of that "vaccine". I never should have voted for McCain or Romney. I didn't know better at the time, but I never should have voted for any Bush. At this point, I am undecided about whether Trump has the wisdom needed to get my vote for another term.

"Lesser of two weasels". I hope he sends her a private message saying..."I backed him early, and when I sign on I STAY aboard, but...IF you beat him, call me, and in the General I'll get onboard with you...'til the very end." Even IF she loses, he has then built a solid bridge to a PA power player, that will be handy in other races to come..

If some of the reports on Hannity (obviously a biased source as he clearly admits a bias in favor of Dr. Oz) are correct, Ms. Barnette has some explaining to do about past comments she's made on line. I can live with her anti-Trump stance of 2016. I never liked Donald Trump since the 1980s, thinking he was nothing more than a rich, egotistical blowhard. He may still be that, but he's OUR rich, egotistical blowhard, and on the whole, governed more conservatively than any Republican President in my lifetime (which includes Reagan, but I'll call that one a toss up). A lot of us were late to jump on the Trump Train in 2016, and many of us jumped aboard only because the alternative was Hillary Clinton. While I am not a Penna. voter, the nice thing about some of these races is that we have good choices. It's like 33 flavors in the ice cream shop. There's a lot of good selections. Unless you're Nancy Pelosi with her $24K refrigerator full of $12/Qt. ice cream, our Democrat friends pretty well are stuck with whatever flavor their betters tell them they can have -- and that they better like it!

Barnette can clear up questions about her military service easily, with her DD214. As for her getting a commission, a healthy young black woman with a Master's in Finance would be enough for a direct commission, or Officer Candidate School.(I served on an ROTC Scholarship Board, and from what I know about her, she meets the requirements for a commission.)

The one who could lose in the general election is the weird TV doctor he endorsed. Oz' support for destroying children's lives if they express a little confusion over gender will hurt turn out among sane and decent people.

Trump sounds like an establishment Republican here. I love him but he is wrong as he can be here. The conservatives have been bullied and manipulated to vote the good old boys and girls club way ever since Reagan left office. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you today’s weak, rudderless and cowardly GOP establishment - the fruit of voters like me listening to them.

It's not an easy call in this race. McCormick seems like a 'Romney-esque' Republican. Barnette has weaknesses for a statewide race. On the Democrat side Fetterman is crushing Connor Lamb in the pre-primary polls. Dems will rally around Fetterman but many are tepid with their support.

Trump and McConnell along with Fox News queered the 2018 WV US Senate Republican nomination for Don Blankenship a week before the primary because "he couldn't win the general" either. Blankenship was leading in the polls. He ended up finishing third and the eventual nominee ended up losing himself.

That is a valid concern. Remember, politics is the art of the possible. Sometimes insisting on trying the truly impossible, just makes the other side win.

Same thing was said about you in 2016. You have a lot of nerve telling people that, that the person they want to vote for has no chance. I don't care if he is friends with your wife or not Mr. President. You have no right to force a carpet bagger on the nation.

I was all in on President Trump very early. I wanted a bull in the China shop of DC and he exceeded on that front and others. Just ONCE in my life I would love to hear him admit he was wrong. Not that someone gave him bad advice or that someone lied to him, but that he made a mistake in judgment. I strongly suspect that is the case here, but maybe I'm wrong. He certainly makes me wonder by backing a candidate as flawed as OZ. Mr. President, sometimes fame and media attention is hot air. Give the voters a little bit of credit. IF oz gets the nomination and IF he wins the general, it will be another lesser of evils deal and he will absolutely turn out to be a RINO, like so many others.

Let it be known that the politicians of the Democrat Party in Washington are either evil or cowardly with the exception of one. Reports say that Democrats had brought Roe v Wade to the floor in order to codify it into law. The goal was to legalize abortion nationwide up until birth with what would be no limits. As you can imagine, every single Republican voted against this and they were joined by none other than West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin who had indicated that he’d vote against it earlier in the day. This resulted in Democrats being 11 votes shy of what they needed to pass Roe into law.
