Deadly mini darts designed to shred human flesh were used during Russia's shelling of Bucha, locals have claimed after finding hundreds of the small projectiles in their gardens. 'Flechettes' - sharp, one-inch-long nail-like projectiles with fins on one end to make them more aerodynamic - were more commonly used in the First World War than modern warfare. They are not technically outlawed by international convention but some human rights groups have decried their use due to their indiscriminate and imprecise nature.'They should never be used in built-up civilian areas,' Amnesty International has said.

Don't worry. They lose every battle. They are worse at fighting than the French.

These media people don’t realize how they have destroyed their credibility. First orange man bad - a threat to democracy. Now putin bad - Using lethal weapons. We don’t want to follow your lead. We want an accounting of why you have done what you’ve done. We want to know, for example, why was the bidet family looting Ukraine? Why did a Ukraine born member of our military act as sole/lead witness to impeach a US president? Why was white supremacy/global warming the top security threat but now some congressman is advocating boots on the ground in Ukraine?
Find someone else to try to exploit.

If these darts "shred flesh", what do explosives do? How about shrapnel? War is hell.

This push to blame Putin is a scam. Ukraine is hiding bio-labs and money laundering schemes that involve Biden, Obama, Clinton, and other traitors. Notice how the US military jumped right in after the Afghanistan debacle. Gotta keep those bombs falling. Eisenhower saw it all coming. I don't believe a word that the press is feeding us.

Locals claim. Daily Mail. If Russia wanted to kill Ukrainians, Ukraine would be a blini by now.

#1 cell phones with cameras are ubiqutous - even illegals crossing our border have them - but, apparently, they are rare in Ukraine.
I do not trust either side of this conflict to be truthful. Ukraine will say and do anything to drag NATO into the fiasco.
#5 I mentioned to family that Putin is not using NATO shock and awe tactics and appears careful not to destroy infrastructure and minimize collateral damage. I was roundly ostracized - the media hype is effective.

We used flechettes in Vietnam, delivered via artillery as well as aerial drops.

They are called flechettes, and we used them in M79 grenade launchers, 3 inch aircraft rockets and 155 howitzer "beehive" rounds in Vietmam. But dropping them over cities, if this is happening, is pretty vicious.

Interesting but entirely unsupported assertions from some commentors that we have never previously heard of before, without any sources of facts, other than believing Putin's disinformation campaign. Perhaps part of Putin's disinformation campaign?

Some of the cheapest and simplest of weapons are the most effective.
That being said, how much has Russia invested in its military at the expense of everything else, and what have they to show for it? Apparently, the Russian military apparatus has been ripping off Russia for decades. What say you, Pootie? If he is actually governing (he's not), he should be furious, and heads should be rolling. If he is a corrupt thug (he is), then Putin is looking the other way like nothing is happening.

Fletchettes have been called "steel rain". AFAIK, no longer in US weapons inventory. I believe that we found that large numbers of them were damaged (bent) in the launching process and didn't fly straight or very far. Often the imagined capability of a new weapon doesn't match with reality.
Another, larger kinetic weapon dropped from aircraft was the "Lazy Dog" mini-bomblets. Tiny 2 inch long ~3/8-1/2" diameter steel bomb shaped solid projectiles with small fins at the back to make them fly point forward. I'm not sure exactly how we used them in Vietnam, I believe dropped from aircraft was the only way used.
I have occasionally seen Lazy Dog bomblets at gun shows for sale as VN war souvenirs. I think that they were dropped in bomblike cannisters, which popped open dispensing them over a wide area. They accelerated by gravity, reaching the speed of a low velocity pistol bullet, but were a lot heavier than a pistol bullet.
I think they were used in Korea and Vietnam. I've only heard this from friends who were in the VN war, so just 'stories I heard', but I have seen the actual bomblets, so I know that they are real.

For the benefit of #13, it's worth noting that Russia's income tax rate is flat at 13% and its national debt is 17% of GDP (compared with 130% for the US). If they have a problem, it's that they invest too little in the military. Meanwhile, the US has more than 750 bases in 80 countries around the world. Some countries show a bit more restraint than we do, ya?

Using Flechettes' in 2022. World War I weapon. Well the ruskies have also been using WW1 rifles. Old Putty Putt must have an arsenal. He reminds me of my husband.....wait a minute let me finish!!! My husband was an organized hoarder. Putin is an organized hoarder (of the worst kind). My husband never threw any thing out. You never know when you might need the "thing." I suppose that those Flechettes' were saved by a previous russian dictator just in case. Having these evil weapons on hand, you never know when you might need them.
