Actor Mark Wahlberg, who has a new film, “Father Stu,” set to come out very soon, has been thinking long and hard about what the future might hold for him.
The actor, who has been busy promoting his new movie, stated that his new career goal is to take his faith and marry it with his films.
“I feel like this is starting a new chapter for me in that, doing things like this – real substance – can help people,” the 50-year-old went on to say during an interview on Entertainment Tonight.
“I definitely want to focus on making more,” he continued.

Each time a movie guy decides he will do Christian movies, the all knowledgeable Media mentions how he will lose fans.
Perhaps the media hacks do not know that God Himself came to Earth and talked about an opportunity for all of us ... some listened. Others didn't and had Him killed.

And he will suddenly recant, beg China to forgive him, then sell his $25 million dollar home. Oh, that's right, he's already trying to sell it. But I do hope he does what he said he will do. We so need good things back in our lives.

I have heard this man interviewed on three different Christian channels about this movie. Clearly, the Lord has touched him deeply about this particular story and it is causing him to adjust his career focus. Yes, OP, I sure agree with you.

Marky Mark has had real criminal charges filed and, I think he may have, as a young man, killed someone or at least beat them half to death. I’m only relaying this info as the left will use it against him and cry HYPOCRITE. For those of us that know God’s mercy we understand that a person can see the truth and change their ways. He’s one of our favorite actors.

#4 I agree. We've all done things of which Mother would not be proud, I am no exception. Even Barabbas found redemption and I trust that this Movie will do very well and inspire others to follow this path.

There is a prescription for what ails this country. Turn back to God. Clearly, the secular humanistic way is not working. We have never been in worse shape than we are now. Democrats want the party to be your god and that leads to a sure path of destruction. Most every democrat issue and or policy is in opposition to what has always guided us, the Judeo-Christian ethos. We need to get back to that. While not everyone believed, the vast majority respected and adhered to the basic tenets of the Ten Commandments and that is a big part of the reason we were able to build this great country. It allowed us to create the great melting pot which was the envy of the world. The turn we took in the 60’s set us on this path and it has been devastating for families, the backbone of the country. Many people are waking up to the realization that this is not the country they knew and loved. Hopefully, their numbers will increase and people will realize the path we are on only leads to darkness, misery and chaos. Strong faith builds strong families and strong families build strong nations. Mr. Wahlberg gets it.

My favorite part of his movie “Shooter” is at the end when he confronts the corrupt senator who whines “I’m a United States Senator”. To which Whalberg replies “Exactly” then blows him away. Oh well, one can dream....

“ Surely that would mean that eventually Hollywood would have to pay attention and stop pushing out so much woke garbage, right?”
I’d love to think so but I doubt it. Mel Gibson’s 2004 “The Passion of the Christ” was hugely successful and did nothing to change attitudes in the film industry. Hollywood has known for decades that family oriented movies far surpass their usual fare in sales and ratings but they prefer to produce smut and violence, even when it tanks financially.

His questionable and sordid past should not be held against him now! It's a perfectly human thing to do --- but it is man's way, not God's.
God, alone, knows what is in your heart and if you are sincerely asking forgiveness.
Perhaps in private prayer, Marky Mark found The Path and turned toward the Light. He should be encouraged to do more ... not chastised for his past.
If he was told to "Go ... and sin no more" ... then only fools & mean people question the Master.

Hollywood might try to shun Mark Walberg but they can't deny he's a huge box office draw. Hollywood can black ball Walberg at their own peril. The likes of Walberg and Eastwood can still make great movies together with Eastwood directing think Hacksaw Ridge here type movies. Has anyone watched Walburgers the family restaurant business in which Mark, his chef younger brother and older Donnie Walberg along with their mother. It's a good family series with humor. Good luck to the Walbergs.

In June 1986, a then-15-year-old Wahlberg and three friends chased after three black children while yelling "Kill the n*gger, kill the n*gger" and throwing rocks at them.[15] The next day, Wahlberg and the others followed a group of mostly black fourth graders (including one of the victims from the previous day) taking a field trip on a beach, yelled racial epithets, threw rocks at them, and "summoned other white males who joined" in the harassment.[15][16] In August 1986, civil action was filed against Wahlberg for violating the civil rights of his victims, and the case was settled the next month.[17][18][19]
Another racially-charged incident occurred in April 1988. The then 16-year old Wahlberg assaulted a middle-aged Vietnamese-American man on the street, calling him a "Vietnam f*cking s h i t" and knocking him unconscious with a large wooden stick. Later the same day, Wahlberg attacked Johnny Trinh, another Vietnamese-American, punching him in the eye. When Wahlberg was arrested and returned to the scene of the first assault, he told police officers: "I'll tell you now that's the mother-f*cker whose head I split open."[20] Later, Wahlberg would explain that he was on PCP at the time.[21] Investigators also noted that Wahlberg "made numerous unsolicited racial statements about 'gooks' and 'slant-eyed gooks'".[22][23] Wahlberg was charged with attempted murder, pleaded guilty to felony assault, and was sentenced to two years in jail, but served only forty-five days of his sentence.[22][24] Wahlberg believed he had left the second victim permanently blind in one eye, though Trinh later stated that he had lost his eye in the Vietnam War, while serving in the South Vietnamese Army, who were fighting alongside American troops.[25][19][22][23]
In August 1992, Wahlberg fractured the jaw of his neighbor Robert Crehan in an attack.[26] Court documents state that in 1992, Wahlberg, "without provocation or cause, viciously and repeatedly kicked" Crehan in the face, while another man, Derek McCall, held the victim on the ground. Wahlberg's attorney claimed that Wahlberg and McCall, who is black, were provoked after McCall was called a racial slur by Crehan.[27] The lawsuit was settled between the two parties, avoiding a criminal trial.[28]
In 2006, Wahlberg said the right thing for him to do would be to meet with Trinh and make amends, though he had not done so.[24] In 2016, while requesting a pardon for his conviction for the assault on Trinh, Wahlberg said he had met with Trinh and apologized "for those horrific acts." Trinh released a public statement forgiving Wahlberg.[25][29]
In 2014, Wahlberg applied for a pardon from the State of Massachusetts for his convictions.[30][31] His pardon application engendered controversy.[22] According to the BBC, the debate about his suitability for a pardon raised "difficult issues, with the arguments on both sides being far-reaching and complex".[32] One individual attacked by Wahlberg when they were a child opposed the pardon, saying: "a racist will always be a racist."[16] Judith Beals, who had been the prosecutor in some of the cases, argued that "Wahlberg has never acknowledged the racial nature of his crimes" and that pardoning Wahlberg would undermine his charity work, saying: "a formal public pardon would highlight all too clearly that if you are white and a movie star, a different standard applies. Is that really what Wahlberg wants?"[33]
In 2016, Wahlberg said he regretted his attempt to obtain a pardon, and his petition was closed after he failed to answer a request from the pardon board as to whether he wanted it to remain open.[29][34]

We hope that Mark Wahlberg knows that he's a salmon swimming upstream against the current in Hollywood and that he has a prayer group behind him, praying against the forces of darkness that will try to stop him at any cost. Most believers in the movie industry are underground because of that.

When he was sentenced to jail, he met a Priest, who he is till close to tady 35 yers later, who was instrumental in turning himself around. He is, along with several of his brothers, devoutly Catholic. While he committed the crimes, they were thirty years ago which makes me ask, is every sentence really a life sentence.
This move is not something a Hollywood person does to make money, the opposite actually. He is fortunate to have his own production company and can do it alone. One thing he said years ago when reached about another rapper who said some anti-homosexual things was that the US Constitution protects the things we dont want to hear, not just the things we do.

Attacking him for his past is the wrong way to do this -- the man is contrite, so that is the end of the matter. Punto. What matters now is all the good he can and is doing --for us, no less, who don't have his Hollywood clout, which includes the power to change cultural currents. Be grateful there are people out there like Mark Wahlberg who are doing such good right now.

Mark Wahlberg and his brother Donnie are two upstanding guys whom I admire. Mark's criminal record (see Reply 15) precedes him today, so to speak, but it seems to me that he has straightened out his life, got with God, and is try to do His will. Most everyone here knows that My Pillow inventor and entrepreneur Mike Lindell was a crack addict and a compulsive gambler during his nadir years (which he was fortunate and blessed to have survived). Sometimes the fallen fall all the way; occasionally, they have a miraculous transformation. Mike Lindell and Mark Wahlberg, just to name two, have become great examples of how to deal with the worst human problems. May they both continue to prosper. And yes, they're both on my prayer list. We believers have to stick together, in prayer and in life.

I applaud Mark Wahlberg's decision. Also, I hope his home sells. Hollywood, like most drug and porn dealers, will say, ''We only give the public what they want.'' Big lie, because no alternative is ever offered. Happily, Daily Wire, for one, is offering a clear alternative.

Fact is, a believer who takes this kind of stand WILL pay a price for it. And it is a price that many believers are not willing to pay. The world hates God. Always has and always will. The entire world system is based upon temporal pleasures and material gain. Christ turned that on its end, called the religious leaders of the day out for their hypocrisy and it lead Him to His death.
Speaking of which... and on this day of profound symbolism, Jesus' death on a Roman cross was no mistake. His atoning sacrifice for yours and my sin and sins (two different things...) was not some 'Plan B' to mop up and unforeseen set of circumstances. Peter describes Christ as 'the Lamb slain before the foundations of the world'. The Son of God was always the sacrificial Lamb. He was always God the Father's pouring out of love on all humanity, and experientially for those who hear and see and respond in faith.
Jesus sweating blood in the garden, hauled as a lamb to slaughter before Herod and Pilate, scourged and beaten, mocked and bloodied, raised up on a cross and crucified, crying out to His Father "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?", looking out across the mass of taunting people He Himself knit together in their mother's wombs while asking His Father to forgive them... crying out 'it is finished', laid in a tomb, defeating death, appearing to more than 200 who knew Him after that first incredulous Easter morn... all of this was Plan A.
I hope you are a part of that Plan.

I agree with #18. His past is his past. All saints were sinners. St. Paul was a zealot who imprisoned and had Christians killed, until the Lord Jesus said, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? He didn't name all Paul's victims, but how we treat others is how we treat God. Ironically Paul spent most of the rest of his life in prison, joyfully, while writing the New Testament epistles. So whatever Mark Wahlberg did as a youth is between him and God. I can't wait to see Fr. Stu and am so thankful he did it. Praise God.

I pray "Father Stu" reaches a wide audience. I saw the trailer and it looks great.
FTA: "But they know that dad can’t start the day without being in prayer, can’t start the day without reading my Scripture or going to Mass.”
When I returned to my Catholic faith in 1995, I began attending daily Mass and continued until 2007 when I retired. The only drawback to not living in town is not being able to participate in the Mass every day. It was so wonderful to receive each morning the Body and Blood of Christ. He helped me to focus on His will for me that day, not just my work responsibilities. I also fell in love with the liturgical year. I had no idea that the Sunday Old/New Testament readings were continued throughout the week; for example, hearing the whole story of Abraham and Isaac. Daily Mass is only a half hour, but that daily trip to Heaven on earth is the True Treasure of the Church. I'll take any opportunity to be at Mass whenever possible. I also try my best to participate in the daily prayers of the Liturgy of the Hours. The "Magnificat" monthly Mass/prayer publication is a treasure; besides the daily prayers there are articles on the lives of the saints and daily meditations.
The Wahlberg family has had their struggles, but they are finding their way through a life with Christ. Mark's brother Jim also has an amazing reversion story. Here is an interview with Marcus Grodi on EWTN's "Journey Home" program. A fascinating hour detailing the power of Christ to heal every one of us.

The Holy Spirit [The Third Person of The Trinity ~ Father, Son, Holy Spirit] draws us, each individual, to Himself. He prepares our hearts to want Him in worship and prayer…
Sadly, most of us come to Him when all else fails us…
“Come into me all ye who are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Then we remember the First of the Ten Commandments…
Oneness with Christ is a relationship, not a religion or place…
Thank the Good Lord most hospitals rooms and prison cells have Bibles, usually put there by The Gideons. His Word is Truth!
