It is not proceeding,” McCarthy wrote to other White House officials in an email, CBS reported.Another official reportedly responded immediately saying that a decision hadn’t been made yet. Interior Department (DOI) officials then reiterated that sentiment to CBS, also saying the agency hadn’t decided if it would move forward on the lease sales Wednesday evening.

The DEA plane was moved to Texas after Mexican officials revoked its parking spot, according to an anonymous U.S. government official and two security sources, Reuters reported. The move coincides with new data published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that shows over 100,000 Americans have died of drug overdoses in 2021, which is a 15% increase from 2020 and a 30% increase from 2019 driven largely by the the use of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) announced plans Wednesday to spend an additional $57 million on abortions for uninsured, out-of-state residents who travel to the state to have abortions because of restrictions on abortion in their own states. The announcement brings Newsom’s proposed spending on out-of-state abortion tourism to $125 million, over and above what he proposed in January. The new spending comes ahead of an anticipated decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, the controversial 1973 ruling that established a “right” to abortion.

With ABC still struggling to find a conservative woman to take over for the fierce Meghan McCain on The View, Sara Haines seemed to be uninterested in that search as she told ABC chief anchor George Stephanopoulos on Wednesday’s Good Morning America that her “dream” new co-host would be two-time failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. After some questions to promote the new season of Haines’ game show, The Chase, the former Clinton lackey pivoted to talking about The View. “Right now, there’s still an open seat on the co-host panel. What are your dream co-hosts,” Stephanopoulos wondered.

A U.S. appeals court ruled Wednesday that California's ban on the sale of semi-automatic weapons to adults under 21 is unconstitutional. In a 2-1 ruling, a panel of the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the law violates the Second Amendment right to bear arms, and that a San Diego judge should have blocked what it called 'an almost total ban on semi-automatic centerfire rifles for young adults.'
