With many elements in the U.S. supply chain still going nowhere fast, discount retail giant Walmart has raised the starting salary for its truck drivers after the industry lost 4,900 truckers in one year alone.Starting wages will jump from $87,500 to between $95,000 and $110,000, according to Walmart spokeswoman Anne Hatfield. The company will also incentivize current employees at their distribution centers to become truckers for the company after a 12-week certification course taught by Walmart’s own drivers, the Daily Mail reported. The announcement came Thursday in light of the American Trucking Association’s latest estimate from October that the U.S. is short of truckers by a number of about 80,000.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) announced plans Wednesday to spend an additional $57 million on abortions for uninsured, out-of-state residents who travel to the state to have abortions because of restrictions on abortion in their own states. The announcement brings Newsom’s proposed spending on out-of-state abortion tourism to $125 million, over and above what he proposed in January. The new spending comes ahead of an anticipated decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, the controversial 1973 ruling that established a “right” to abortion.

The other day, King County politicians heard an update on how the controversial practice of requiring COVID-19 vaccines has affected the county cops. It turns out that since the mandate last fall, 55 employees at the Sheriff’s Office, 47 of whom were commissioned officers, have either retired or been fired because they wouldn’t get the coronavirus shots. That’s out of a force of 1,200 — so about 4.5%. One council member, Reagan Dunn, argued that the need for a vaccine mandate, if it ever existed, has passed. Let it be known that the politicians of the Democrat Party in Washington are either evil or cowardly with the exception of one. Reports say that Democrats had brought Roe v Wade to the floor in order to codify it into law. The goal was to legalize abortion nationwide up until birth with what would be no limits. As you can imagine, every single Republican voted against this and they were joined by none other than West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin who had indicated that he’d vote against it earlier in the day. This resulted in Democrats being 11 votes shy of what they needed to pass Roe into law.
