Walt Disney World has reportedly denounced a routine by a high school drill team that was accused of “racism” and borrowing from Native American stereotypes during a recent performance there.
Video shot March 15 of the Port Neches-Groves High School Indianettes from Texas shows the all-women squad dressed in purple with white fringe as they march and dance—seemingly borrowing from Native culture—while also chanting, “Scalp ’em, Indians, scalp ’em.”
The footage of the group, who were invited to perform in Orlando, sparked a backlash by Native American officials who called their act “dehumanizing.” “The live performance in our park did not reflect our core values,

Never been to Disney World. Never plan to go. And never plan to see any movies that Disney or their subsidiaries make. Boycott Disney-the only thing they understand is their bottom line.

I have despised the Disney company for years for their lies, and being exceptionally greedy gougers. I dropped them over a decade ago. The current actions and statements of their CEO has confirmed the negative judgement.

I imagine Disney is losing revenue. They apparently have a death wish. Walt Disney, a staunch Republican, would be appalled

Port Neches was home to the Karankawa's, 7ft tall indians, extinct loooong before europeans arrived. If "Natives" didn't want to be known for Scalping people, they shouldn't have scalped people. They certainly shouldn't try to pretend now that it never happened.
The fact that the 1st person to be "Poutraged" was an Ojibwa from southern canada, 1000s of miles away, with ZERO native attachment to the region? Simply par for the poutrage course.

As an Italian-American - - I vehemently protest the portrayal of Papa Gepetto as some sort of mindless boob - - and of Pinocchio as a compulsive neurotic.
These warped caricatures of Italians are completely and viciously racist - - and reparations must be paid by the corrupt Disney empire to anyone of Italian heritage - - as well as to anyone who has ever seen a Coppola or Scorcese movie.

Maybe they can dress as French or English fur trappers. It was one or the other that introduced scalping to American natives as I recall .

Oh come on! Disney, once of a "kingdom" for little children holding mom or pop's hand, eating that pink fluffy stuff. No more. Now it's horse's droppings. Sad. When will giant company's like Disney get a message. We, the people are tired of your horse droppings. Will never ever patronize this play ground of filth. Too bad. I think Walt had better ideas for his "world."

If I was a member of the Disney family I think I'd sue for defamation of my name, and insist the company change their branding to something more in keeping with their "values". Perhaps Pedo Kingdom would be a honest descriptor.

# 10..that's a myth . Just like the slaughter of the sainted bison. The locals used to run herds of bison off cliffs an wait a minute or two and go down and scavenge the remains for for what ever.

My travels used to take me through several reservations in the southwest. The people I met there were among the nicest I've ever met anywhere in the world. They were proud of their heritage but not carrying a chip on their shoulders about it, like liberals do. Of all the racial and ethnic groups I've met in my life, Indians are the ONLY ones who not one single member has ever treated me bad. That puts them way ahead of moslems, Europeans, Asians, Mexicans, rednecks, and about every other group.
Those girls look like a bunch of cuties. Scalp away!

The chanting, at a family park, was peculiarly out of place.
The band director should be creating more appropriate stuff for the bandfront girls.

So an act that includes words "scalp 'em" is dehumanizing? When native Americans were actually scalping people...apparently they don't think THAT was dehumanizing???? Up is down, down is up. Black is white, white is black.

There was a famous Russian sailor's account of a Sitka tribe potlach ceremony in southern Alaska in 1848 that shows how seriously the first nation peoples took their musical performances. Each year there would be a singing competition between the men of the two local tribes that was "judged" by the elders. When the same tribe won two years in a row the losers got out their weapons and killed many of the singers in the winning tribe they could before they were slaughtered by the remaining warriors. The stylized stereotypes of the ancient first nation tribes that are captured by baseball and football teams (as well as drill teams) are quite tame in contrast to the practices of the ancient world.

Scalping was the process of taking a trophy. In James Fenimore Cooper's "The Deerslayer" and "The Last of the Mohicans" he wrote about French and English scalping Hurons, sometimes while they were still alive.
If you want to talk about dehumanizing, look to the Apache and the Comanche who tied enemies to anthills and poured honey on them, or hung them upside down from a tree limb with their heads about three feet from the ground and lit small fires under them. For real humiliation they gave little knives or sharp pieces of flint to the squaws and let them skin people alive, slowly and carefully. Since we stole their land, starved them and killed off their food supply, we might have deserved it. Nobody was innocent in those days.

For those that have never been to a Disney park, don't watch their movies, etc... Disney doesn't give a flip about you and your opinion. Boycotting something you never bought in the first place is pointless.
My family on the other hand actually went to Disney parks regularly for years and did spend time and money there for years, 9-16 days there a year and 5k+ a year plus annual passes which cost about $800 per person every 2 years. We were loyal customers and are actually part of their DVC and have been for almost 15 years. We will not be going back anytime soon and definitely not until Bob Chapek (nickname Bob Paycheck cause he gave himself a raise during Covid) is fired and until they get their collective heads out of their own arses and get back to be a middle class family friendly vacation spot. And if that means we never go back, so be it. That is a lot of our money they won't be getting but someone else like Universal parks or other vacation destination around the world will be getting.

It's racist for cheerleaders to honor the warrior spirit, but sexually liberating and empowering when they twerk and grind like someone's weird idea of gorillas in heat. And at Disney, an old-time cheerleader routine is dehumanizing, but Gay Pride parades are the very heart and soul of wholesome family values, especially when young children are involved.
