Career fair in Prince George’s Co. helps
Afghan refugees connect to jobs

Many Afghan refugees who have arrived in the D.C. region not only need a place to stay, but also help finding work. A job fair in Prince George’s County on Saturday hoped to give them a head start. Ikramullah Gujar came to the U.S. seven months ago, and was living in a refugee center until recently. Now, he’s looking for work. “I’m trying to get a job, and help myself and my family. This is a new world for me,” Gujar told WTOP through a translator.(Snip)About 150 refugees were shuttled to the fair from various apartment buildings and hotels in the area. Employers and translators were on hand

Comments:

We imported refugees because "they helped us" in a war that stood to benefit Afghanistan only, but the translators need translators because they don't speak a word of English. Only in America!

Are Afghans the only ones applying for work in predominately black Prince Georges County? Why are they there in the first place? If they can find work through a job fair, why weren’t these jobs filled earlier before they arrived? It makes me laugh!

Seven months, and still needs an interpreter? What has he been doing? Shouldn’t the refugee center be teaching basic English?

Make that a job fair as opposed to a career fair because the refugees have no skills. Afghans hired will likely have multiple Afghan co-workers which is a disincentive for them to learn English. The jobs won’t pay a living wage. That is no problem for the Afghans because of welfare subsidies, including free health care. Their children are going to crowd public schools, and those kids need expensive ESL services. And, of course, the refugees all vote democrat. What is there to like about the Afghans?

Well don't put them taking orders from catalog sales. Its bad enough with strong Spanish accents. I have a rough time try to order things. Can't imagine an Afghan accent but what ever they do, don't let it be on the telephone.

Every time an Afghan is hired to a job in Prince George’s County that will almost always mean that Afghan took a job that a African-American could have been hired to fill. That’s an example of real leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrat “equity”. African-Americans should remember what Democrat “equity” is all about when they vote in the upcoming election.

It’s a pump and dumps scheme. Four Florida men were busted for installing devices inside gas pumps that dropped prices down to nearly nothing—an alarming trend that officials said will only spread with fuel costs soaring.(Snip)Rogelio Llerena and Yulier Garcia-Martinez were busted on March 12 while topping off an oversized gas tank in Lakeland. Garcia-Martinez even had a remote device to manipulate the pulsators, officials said. Yordian Diaz-Benitez, of Tampa, was arrested at a Lutz station for stealing diesel fuel on March 10. Marlon Rosel-Rodriguez was cuffed two days later for attempting to place the device inside a pump at the same station.

Elon Musk’s extensive business dealings with China have sparked some alarm on Capitol Hill, with some lawmakers questioning whether Beijing could exploit connections with Tesla and SpaceX to gain access to classified information. Republican lawmakers have expressed concern that the Chinese government could attempt to obtain classified information through third-parties, such as SpaceX suppliers based in China. The US and China are locked in intense competition over space technology and American officials have repeatedly accused Beijing of stealing US intellectual property and trade secrets. Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah), a top member of the House Intelligence Committee, is attempting to hold closed-door briefings to probe whether China’s government

The biggest economic development project in Georgia history is about to be built on a rural tract of land about an hour’s drive east of Atlanta. Among local authorities, no one may have been more important in bringing Rivian’s planned $5 billion plant to the state than Alan Verner. His twin roles as a prominent public official and a large landowner raise conflict of interest questions about the massive electric vehicle factory deal, which was brokered by state and local authorities behind a cloak of secrecy. Verner and his four siblings own about 675 acres of property earmarked for the Rivian plant, or a third of the 1,978-acre site

Their experiences have again raised the issue of race and the UK’s welcome to refugees, prompting claims that ministers would never have unveiled last week’s humanitarian sponsorship scheme for Ukrainians had it not been aimed at white Europeans.

I sense a disturbance in the force. (snip) I noted that Biden’s appalling performance as president would sooner or later—and probably sooner, given the ostentatious nature of his multifaceted failure—lead to his removal as president. I should have added that it wasn’t Biden’s performance per se that would lead to his downfall. A disgraced Democrat state senator dodged jail thanks to a plea deal over a $600,000 fraud which saw her spend federal cash on her wedding, honeymoon—and subsequent divorce. Katrina Robinson, 41, struck the plea deal Friday which saw her admit just two of the 20 counts she was facing, with a value of $3,400. Sentencing guidelines could have seen the former Tennessee lawmaker face up to 10 months in prison for those counts. But US District Judge Sheryl H Lipman decided to let Robinson off with a slap on the wrist, and sentenced her to just a year of probation after claiming that the swindler had suffered enough already.

Much is unknown at this point, but I am a commercial multi-engine pilot and a flight instructor so I can add a few points of speculation to ponder. According to the flight data available, the rapid descent started at around 30,000 feet. That would point to either a structural failure that caused a loss of flight controls or a high-altitude stall
