Will this really be a long war?

Original Article

I have no doubt that both sides are willing to make it a long war. Zelensky and his people have proved they’re willing to die for their freedom. Putin has gambled his legacy on subjugating Ukraine. Neither will blink. Which has the makings of a very long war indeed: Given the durability of the Ukrainian resistance and its long history of pushing Russia back, the U.S. and Western powers do not believe that this will be a short war. The U.K. foreign secretary estimated it would be a 10-year war. Lawmakers at the Capitol were told Monday it is likely to last 10, 15 or 20 years — and that ultimately,

No, with modern weaponry and technology and overwhelming manpower, and as evil as Putin is, this will be over in a matter of weeks. At least as far as Russia controlling the country and establishing their puppet government. Ukrainians will keep fighting long after that, but it will be guerrilla tactics -- not war between two armies. This article even states that, so the headline is misleading.

The great tragedy is that this conflict was completely avoidable. It was all about NATO membership. Russia's redline was rejected outright by NATO leadership, Biden publicly offered membership and never rejected by Zelensky trying to leave his options open. Ukrainian neutrality would have given them prosperity by generous access to both east and west. Total diplomatic failure. Arrogant NATO globalists have no grasp of geopolitical reality dwelling in a Eurocentric twilight zone. Biden is an incompetent political bottom feeder pretending to be a president. Zelinsky for all his admirable attributes is an amateur politician and was thrown under the bus by those who have no admirable attributes. Ukraine cannot eject Russia and Russia will not accept NATO on its boarders. Russia has been isolated from the West. Pundits believe this will believe this will bring Russia to its knees, but it's hard to imagine this was not anticipated. Russia will take over all investments abandoned due to sanctions and will continue to trade with the most important country in the world, China. Ukraine is ultimately irrelevant to China other than how it can benefit from it financially and geopolitically. Russia is a fountain of raw materials, oil, gas, coal, lumber, strategic materials such titanium, nickel, lithium which it can exchange for manufactured goods and technology. Russia boarders China so air, land and sea transportation routes are unaffected by any sanctions. Russia and China share a common adversary. China will pretend to be aloof for appearances, even joining condemnation as appropriate, all the while studying the sanction strategies and their effectiveness while feeding any useful intelligence to Russia and covertly assisting them in devising ways to evade sanctions for mutual benefit. How long will it last? It will last as long as it takes for Russia to achieve its objectives. The alternative is to be a vassal of NATO which is unimaginable probably to almost everyone.

it doesn't benefit an occupying force when the populace is politically and domestically against it and that is what we have in Ukraine but, in order for a the populace to maintain a military campaign against the occupying force, it must have to be continually reinforced and supplied, the Ukrainians do not have that within the next 3 years from the United States even if there is a Republican House and Senate, diapers is still the Commander in Chief and his base will not allow the continued resupply of the Ukrainians beyond the next 3 months, if they're lucky. the fervor will wain and this will end up being another guerilla campaign but Ukraine is not Afghanistan for Vietnam where the populace can easily hide from the occupying forces, the best thing that could happen is for the Soviet Russian forces to refuse to fight thereby reducing their effectiveness and essentially aiding the Ukrainians ...and... if Vlad the Imposer can maintain his vicelike grip on the situation - very, very complicated and in the meantime many civilians will die just like an any guerilla force campaign

Putin will have effective control of the country within a couple of months. Then the situation will become more like Britain fighting the IRA than the US fighting in Afghanistan. That could, indeed, drag on a long time.

Please someone look at a map. Just a bit North was the siege of Leningrad, now named St. Petersburg, where German and Finland soldiers starved 2,000,000 Russians. On the East, Stalingrad by the Volga stopped Germany at the cost of 2,000,000 fighting men. How dare the American NWO Globalistas morons think Russia will concede our medal-covered Deep State CRT inverts their own sovereign interests as a Nation State? If our Army is sent in, prepare to die. Let the EU and UN defend themselves. They are delinquent in their payments and are yellowbellies now.

Look at how easily manipulated we are. Sheesh. Covid, masks, social distancing, etc have just disappeared overnight---POOF!---after 2 YEARS of solitary confinement and lockdowns. Ukraine and Russia now are the sole focus of the latest media frenzy. So how long will this Russian conflict last? My guess is it'll last until our government decides to use the sycophant media to whip up hysteria about some other crisis.

I read about the war or invasion and view the news that reports on it daily then I embarrassly return to hear our stupid woke government with the military. We could never do what the Ukrainians are doing. If Putin accomplishes his goal, he will rule over a burned-out ash pit. Putin will never outlast the people who will forever reject him and his occupying government. It will be a hollow victory for the evil dictator this is Putin's legacy. FVP

The Transportation Security Administration is extending a federal requirement that travelers wear masks on airplanes, at airports, on trains and buses through April 18, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday. The mandate was set to expire on March 19. An extension of the mandate comes as the Biden administration, cities and states have rolled back mask mandates and other pandemic policies elsewhere as Covid cases drop. The shorter extension of the policy compared with previous announcements suggests President Joe Biden and the CDC are weighing whether to lift the mandate entirely this sprin

Washington — The House on Wednesday passed a $1.5 trillion omnibus spending bill to keep the federal government open and provide $13.6 billion in aid for Ukraine and Eastern European countries, while $15.6 billion for the response to COVID-19 fell by the wayside as Democrats worked to pass the legislation. The defense portion of the legislation passed 361-69, while the domestic spending portion passed 260-171, with one present vote. The 2,700-page legislation, which now heads to the Senate, is the culmination of months of bicameral and bipartisan negotiations between top Democratic and Republican appropriators. The details of the package, which funds federal agencies for the remainder of the fiscal year,

Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine will be remembered as one of the great crimes of the 21st century. The ensuing humanitarian crisis has already caused more than two million refugees to flee their homeland. With the imposition of sanctions, policymakers will have to weigh their political options as a rise in energy prices may trigger food shortages in the coming European fall, and lead to an even worse catastrophe in Africa and other developing countries. Under such circumstances, it’s easy to see the current war in Ukraine in Manichean terms. But once the conflict ends or devolves into a guerrilla war, national identity, geopolitics, and economics, not abstract principle

The Republican National Committee filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the House panel investigating last year's attack on the Capitol, arguing the congressional committee is seeking potentially confidential information on RNC members. The lawsuit takes aim at a February subpoena to Salesforce that the Jan. 6 committee said focuses on emails from the RNC in the weeks before the attack on the Capitol saying the 2020 election was stolen. The RNC called the subpoena a “fishing expedition" that could expose its strategies and personal information of its members and donors. The suit names House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and members of the congressional committee as defendants.

One of the dumbest stories currently happening in the country involves the Parental Rights in Education bill, which recently made it through the Florida legislature. It is now headed to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ desk, and he’s promised to sign it into law. So, why is a bill that simply provides more power to parents and more accountability to educators being so maligned? The answer is that it dares to disallow teaching sexual and gender ideology to Pre-K through third-grade students (that translates to ages 3-7). I know — the absolute horror of small children not being exposed to such things without parental involvement, right?

Killers have gotten way less severe sentences, like this fine lad, who punched and killed an elderly man who allegedly called him a bad name: Perna didn’t punch an elderly man, causing his death. Nor was he looking at two years of house arrest. Perna was looking at 51 months in federal prison for entering the Capitol for five to ten minutes, snapping selfies, and chanting “USA” in an apparently seditious way. Kyiv, Ukraine — A Russian attack severely damaged a children’s hospital and maternity ward in the besieged port city of Mariupol, Ukrainian officials said Wednesday, as citizens trying to escape shelling on the outskirts of Kyiv streamed toward the capital amid warnings from the West that Moscow’s invasion is about to take a more brutal and indiscriminate turn. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter that there were “people, children under the wreckage” of the hospital and called the strike an “atrocity.” Authorities said they were trying to establish how many people had been killed or wounded. Mariupol’s city council said on its social media site that the damage was “colossal.”

In a letter sent Wednesday and addressed to Attorney General Merrick Garland, a bipartisan group of lawmakers alleged that Amazon repeatedly misled the House Judiciary Committee throughout a 16-month probe into the competitive practices of Amazon, Apple, Google and Facebook. In particular, lawmakers have zeroed in on Amazon's private-label practices and its collection of third-party seller data. Lawmakers claim Amazon has made false and misleading statements to the House Committee about its practices, then refused to turn over evidence that would "either corroborate its claims or correct the record,"

President Biden’s announcement that the United States will ban imports of Russian oil caused the price of crude to surge on Tuesday morning. However, the pain that Americans are set to feel at the gas pump could eventually be offset if Congress were to pass Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, a new study finds. An analysis released Tuesday by the nonpartisan think tank Energy Innovation finds that the climate change provisions of Biden’s now-defunct proposal, such as tax credits for buying new electric vehicles, would have reduced U.S. oil consumption by 2025 by half of the roughly 200,000 barrels of crude oil from Russia
