A Texas grand jury indicted 19 Austin police officers on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for their actions during 2020 protests over racial injustice that spread nationwide following the killing of George Floyd, according to people familiar with the matter.
Multiple people spoke to The Associated Press Thursday on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case publicly. Austin Police Association President Ken Cassidy confirmed 19 officers are facing charges but did not have details.
It ranks among the most indictments on a single police department in the U.S. over tactics used by officers during the widespread protests — methods that led to

How many of the violent rioting looting thugs have been charged? This is an obvious political move by some Ultra-liberal police hating DA.

Nobody in their right mind is going to want to be a police officer after the Obama/Biden administration! The inner cities in this country are going to make Beirut look like a vacation paradise!

Throwing fist sized rocks at police should not get beanbag 'less lethal rounds' back. They should get normal bullets, carefully aimed at the rock throwers. Those rock are deadly force, demands deadly force in return.

There isn't enough money anywhere to pay me to be a cop these days.
You are either put into situations where you risk your life and freedom to try to stop anarchy (knowing you will get no support from government officials), or you are ordered to be Gestapo stormtroopers for fascist government tyrants (like you see in Canada today or you saw with the Capital Police in Washington DC on January 6th).
But that is probably the plan of the lie-berals. Get all the good men and women out of policing, so that you can put bad people in their place to be the Demon-Rats' "brown shirts" thugs!!!

"Protests over racial injustice" indeed. Back in the day we had Tass and Izvestia. Now we have AP and Reuters.

Let this be a lesson to Austin cops. Quit before you get indicted.

Yet if those police would have shot and killed people at the January 6th protests, the democrats and media would be hailing those same officers as heroes.

Time to get rid o the “social” justice. It’s a scam. Individual justice is needed. No matter the color of skin, the social standing, or the job being held, if a person breaks the law, that person pays the price. Has nothing to do with anything but how the individual person behaved!

You would have to be “nuts” to apply to be a police officer in any of the liberal Democrat run big cities. As anytime during a nominal police career of maybe 25 years, you could become entangled in a violent incident not of your own making where you could end up in jail or prison with the noncompliant criminals involved in the incident left to walk the streets.

At the same time, police in other cities were murdered, beaten and injured by rocks and lasers. Those police forces were ordered to act in a pussilanimous fashion and what did it get them? Our justice system has been perverted by crooked, activist judges and lawyers who choose juries who could not collectively pass a urine test. When the time comes, WTP will not be hamstrung by such stupid ROE when it comes to protecting our own neighborhoods and families.

I don't know why we have to read the name "George Floyd" even to this day. That's WAY too much mourning for a guy who did nothing more than steal a candy bar after putting drugs up his butt.
I'm sorry but I wasted at least a week watching him and it still makes me grumpy.

Austin has already lost HUNDREDS of police officers.
Comrade Mayer Adler shifted a huge chunk of $$$$$ to be spend on social (read: woke) justice items like disbanding the police academy, eliminating the motorcycle cops, and cutting back on 911 staff.
Austin is flush with homeless a la San Fransicko, and is NOT a real reflection of Texas.
In the last completed Census, Hays County which borders Travis County where Austin is located was the fastest-growing area over the last 10 years, proving that people come, but don't want to live in Austin....
