Well, Well, Well … Look Who's Back on Spotify

It seems like only yesterday that Neil Young shook his shriveled Canadian fist at Spotify, via a now-deleted open letter to his manager and record label, and demanded they remove his work from their platform. “I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them,” explained Young. He directed his people to “Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule.” “I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform,” fumed Young. “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.”

Comments:

Neil Young had delusions of grandeur and threw a temper tantrum. The rest of the world said "Ho hum. Mr. Irrelevant speaks."

When I was in my twenties, I was quite fond of Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, and held views just like those they still hold today. Difference is, I grew up; they did not. I'm not sure what it is about the performing arts that traps performers in a time warp. Maybe there's something about them that just never achieves maturity, or perhaps as their jowells sag and their hair turns grey and thin, they have an even greater need to show that they're still "with it", even though "it" is fifty years out of date.

I doubt Neil Young lost much money taking his music off of Spotify because I seriously doubt he had many listeners on that platform. Even before this happened, he probably didn't get much more than pocket change from the people who did listen. But I do think someone pointed out that if he is not on Spotify, he probably won't have much of anyone listening to his music. And his ego just couldn't handle fading away.

A lot of people have been wondering why these old hippies who made a career out of standing up to The Establishment all of a sudden have become mouthpieces for that very same Establishment. I believe I've figured it out: mortality. These artifacts from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame are all pushing 80 (if, like Crosby, they haven't passed that milestone already), and having survived the decades of the hard life on the road performing their hits and the usual substance abuse that goes along with it, they'd like to stick around another 10 - 20 years longer. They're cognitive of how devastating COVID has been to people their age and are scared to death of catching it and dying from it. If submitting to The Man and becoming his mouthpiece is what it takes to buy themselves the extra time they apparently so desire, then they're more than willing to do so. I don't begrudge them the desire to live longer, but at the same time I'd appreciate it if they were at least honest about their motivations and also if they showed some respect to those willing to ask the questions that they are to longer willing to ask. They used to say to not trust anyone over 30, but now that they're senior citizens, they seem to have forgotten that a healthy skepticism is a good thing, especially when it comes to politicians.

On Tuesday, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) issued a statement touting the amazing rebound in the state’s tourism industry in 2021. As other states persisted in their draconian lockdowns over the pandemic, Florida became the ultimate destination for those seeking liberty, normalcy, and a real vacation—even for those implementing forced quarantines. The numbers are staggering. Florida enjoyed an influx of 117.7 million domestic visitors in 2021. Further, in the third and fourth quarters of 2021, tourism numbers beat the same periods in 2019, before the pandemic. This demonstrates that Florida has not just rebounded, but exceeded its pre-pandemic reputation as a vacation destination — and a destination for those seeking liberty.

Think you live too far from the Mexican border to be hurt by the chaos there? Bloomfield is a picturesque village in central Connecticut, 3,500 miles from the Mexican border. But illegal drugs flowing across that border nearly killed a 16-year-old student at Bloomfield High School two weeks ago. He tried marijuana, not knowing it was laced with fentanyl. Police rushed to the school nurse's office and administered two doses of Narcan just in time to save him. Responding to the surge in teen overdoses, Connecticut's Gov. Ned Lamont is asking, "How did this happen? How is there more fentanyl on the streets than ever before?" Look south, Governor.

Of those babies, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 95,700 -- or 3.8% -- were born to unmarried mothers. The traditional family led by a mother and father was a foundational fact of American culture. In 1945, the percentage of babies born to unmarried mothers rose to 4.3%. But, by 1946, the first full year after the war, it dropped back down to 3.8%. The traditional family survived. Then in the 1950s, the percentage of American babies born to unmarried mothers began to slowly tick upward,

Donald Trump warned Americans about the Deep State. Instead of listening, Democrats (the Party of yore that actually cared about abusive government power) and their cronies in the Mainstream Media mocked him for peddling an “Alt-Right conspiracy.” Not only do we now have more than sufficient proof that the Deep State exists, but clear evidence it has grown stronger, bolder, and more dangerous. In just the past week, two shocking reports have come to light that detail the extent to which the Deep State has flourished in the shadows. The first comes from Senators Ron Wyden and Martin Heinrich,

Some days ago, John Durham dropped a bombshell filing that confirmed what has been suspected for years – that Hillary Clinton used operatives to spy on Donald Trump. More disturbing, though, was the revelation that those who were passing her information were exploiting a prior Pentagon contract to actually monitor the Executive Office of the President after Trump’s inauguration (click here for my take on why that happened). All of that was funneled through Perkins Coie, the now-infamous law firm which employed the currently indicted Michael Sussman. Now, a new report from Fox News says that Durham’s investigation is “accelerating,” and that it is also targeting “other matters”

I was offline for most of last week but whenever I got the chance, I checked in to see how the Freedom Convoy in Canada was faring. Like many, I was pleased to find out that they were still going strong and doing their thing despite all the obstacles thrown at them by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the Ontario government and other local authorities, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and the obedient hall monitors at GoFundMe. I was also happy to find out that podcaster Joe Rogan was still not backing down, was still hosting his programs despite the left’s/media’s/Hollywood’s/Big Tech’s coordinated attempts to neuter him or shut him down.

But, there’s another intriguing piece of information that the Free Beacon just dropped — that in 2020, the Biden campaign also paid the same internet company being talked about concerning the Durham probe. The Biden campaign paid nearly $20,000 to a cybersecurity firm at the center of Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe. The campaign paid Neustar Information Services in 2020 for accounting and compliance work, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has invoked the Emergency Powers Act against the Freedom Convoy, and as PJM’s Paula Bolyard noted, “Among other things, the Canadian government will freeze the assets of truck owners participating in the protests and cancel their insurance policies.” Since the protests have not been violent, as Trudeau claimed, his action amounts to a clampdown on political dissent itself and a serious strike at the very possibility of standing up to a tyrannical government. If we had a President of the United States right now who was worthy of the name, he (or she — yes, it could be Tulsi Gabbard) would regard Trudeau’s action
