Democrats Continue to Go After Each Other
on Build Back Better

There is perhaps no greater example of Democrats in disarray than everything to do with how they are handling Build Back Better. The legislation, a key part of President Joe Biden's agenda, died last December when Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) came out against it. Yet his fellow Democrats are still clamoring to revive it, as if it has any life left to it at this point. Biden just last Thursday tried to encourage passage of the bill in the Senate, even quipping that Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA), whose district he was visiting, should convince Manchin to get it passed.

A few days ago, the Houston Rockets traded for Enes Kanter Freedom and subsequently released him. Kanter Freedom has been unapologetically outspoken over China’s human rights abuses as well as the league’s hypocrisy over putting domestic political issues at the forefront of its messaging while turning a blind eye to Chinese labor camps. For taking a political stance, Kanter Freedom was silenced. Colin Kaepernick was not available for comment. In recent months, Kanter Freedom has increasingly been a thorn in the side of the NBA, which is increasingly dependent on China for both cheap Nike labor, a sizable audience, and market expansion. In 2019,

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) refused to provide evidence to support its claims that COVID-19 “misinformation” and “false or misleading narratives” inspired violent terrorism during 2021. DHS issued a terrorism advisory bulletin Monday warning that of the dangers of online misinformation, which the agency said has been exploited by “threat actors” and to inspire acts of terrorism. “The United States remains in a heightened threat environment fueled by several factors, including an online environment filled with false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories, and other forms of mis- dis- and mal-information (MDM) introduced and/or amplified by foreign and domestic threat actors,” DHS said in the bulletin.

Sweden halted its COVID-19 testing regime on Wednesday, even for those who are showing symptoms of infection, as many European countries end pandemic restrictions, the Associated Press reported. The country’s mobile city-square tent sites, drive-in swab centers and home-delivered tests, which each provided key data to track the virus’ spread, have ended, the AP reported. Only symptomatic health and elderly care workers and the most vulnerable will be entitled to free PCR tests moving forward. “We have reached a point where the cost and relevance of the testing is no longer justifiable,”

There are bad takes, and then there are BAD takes. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s public denouncement of the growing and sustained freedom protest in Ottawa and across Canada falls into the latter category. After fleeing the country on the fake premise of a possible Covid exposure, the boosted and negative-testing PM returned to parliament to attach more slanderous motives to a group of people he has already labeled as fringe and white supremacists. Take a listen as Trudeau utters complete nonsense:

The Biden administration has frequently urged social media and technology companies to censor users, stressing the perceived dangers of “misinformation.” White House press secretary Jen Psaki drew criticism after she said Tuesday that Spotify and other social media companies need to be “doing more” to stop the spread of “mis- and disinformation” on their platforms, echoing calls made in July for Facebook to remove posts containing vaccine misinformation. Psaki’s comments were in response to a question regarding backlash towards podcast host Joe Rogan, with whom Spotify has an exclusive contract, for hosting two guests who were skeptical of the COVID-19 vaccine’s safety and efficacy.

The North Carolina state Supreme Court rejected a congressional district map passed by the state legislature, ruling that the legislature created an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander. The map, passed along party lines, created ten safe seats for Republicans and three safe seats for Democrats, with one competitive district. Democratic officials immediately challenged the map in the Wake County Circuit Court, where Republicans initially won. The plaintiffs were represented by the Elias Law Group, an elections litigation firm founded by prominent Democratic attorney Marc Elias.

The vaccines are 95% effective at preventing infection ? Breakthrough infections everywhere. The vaccinated can’t spread COVID (“Get vaccinated to protect grandma”) ? The vaxxed are as infectious as the naive unvaccinated and significantly more infectious than recovered unvaccinated. The vaxxed can become superspreaders like Typhoid Mary, because they are equally or more infectious, but with suppressed symptoms. After getting fully vaccinated, you’ll be done for good ? Boosters are required, because the vaccine provides some protection for only a few months and only against a specific variant.

Opposing mask mandates in schools has quickly become the new hot take of the week in America’s leading legacy newsrooms. The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR and The Atlantic all ran pieces this week arguing that mask mandates for schoolchildren are unnecessary, harmful, or both. NPR’s piece was more of the reporting variety, while the others were strictly opinion, but all of them shared a common thread: newly advocating for a position that some, particularly conservatives, have been calling for for months and years. On Monday, the Washington Post published an op-ed from three medical experts calling to end mask mandates in schools. The Atlantic joined in on Tuesday.

Once upon a time in 60’s and 70’s America, public service commercials about *Radio Free Europe” filled our television airwaves. The ads appealed for help for people who were living “behind the Iron Curtain.” Here’s one of the most iconic commercials from that time. If you were a kid living in America, you couldn’t imagine how any country could stifle news and information, crush dissent or persecute dissenters simply for thinking for themselves. Yet, in 2022 America we are seeing a tacit acceptance of exactly that. Did you think you’d ever live to see the day when America would side with Communist Cuba over freedom-fighters who finally stood up

If we’ve learned anything from the inhabitants of Planet Looney Tunes over the last couple of years, it is this: Anything and everything the left doesn’t like is racist, misogynistic, or worse. And by “racist,” we’re talking systemic racism — which is tied to white supremacy and the ridiculous notion that all white people — at birth, solely because of the color of their skin — are inherently racist, and for which, they must atone by living proactively anti-racist lives. And, as if we haven’t laughed at these people enough, they now tell us that eating meat is “all of the above.”

The families of nine victims in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting secured a $73 million settlement Tuesday against Remington Arms, the gun manufacturer that marketed the rifle used in the deadly rampage. The families’ attorneys hailed the move as a victory that allows others to sue gunmakers in the aftermath of mass shootings. Russia says some troops are being withdrawn from the Ukraine border and sent back to their home bases in what could be the first sign of a climbdown by Putin - or another of the strongman's deceptions ahead of an attack.Moscow's defence ministry said today that units of the Southern and Western military command - which covers occupied Crimea and the Ukraine border region - are being loaded on to rail and road transports and moved away having 'completed their tasks' after training drills. But that message stands at stark odds with briefings out of Washington overnight that Russian troops are actually being moved closer to the border -

After Trudeau authorized the Canadian government’s use of the Emergencies Act, giving the government much broader powers to deal with anti-vaccine mandate protests in his country, it might be useful to recall that in 2013, asked what country he most admired besides Canada, he selected communist China, even while admitting they had a “basic dictatorship.”

Halderman was previously profiled in a video by the New York Times back in 2018 when he demonstrated to a group of students how easy it would be to rig a voting machine.
