Ronnie Spector, the powerhouse vocalist and teenage ingenue behind the ’60s rock band the Ronettes, died on Wednesday at 78. “Our beloved earth angel, Ronnie, peacefully left this world today,” her family wrote in a statement, adding that the star lost “a brief battle with cancer.” “She was with family and in the arms of her husband, Jonathan.” “Ronnie lived her life with a twinkle in her eye, a spunky attitude, a wicked sense of humor and a smile on her face. She was filled with love and gratitude,” they continued.

Comments:

Ronnie was the original Rose In Spanish Harlem. In the early 1960's - - we would lip-sync to the Ronettes tunes - - and have faux arguments over who would be Estelle and who would be Nedra. She was tough enough to survive Phil Spector. RIP, My Baby.

A bit before my time. Those of us of a certain age will forever associate her with the Eddie Money song "Take Me Home Tonight." And in regards to #1, just like Jagger sang, "like a newborn baby it just happens every day."

#2 Eddie Money was looking for someone to sing that line in his song, and the story goes that he suddenly thought of Ronnie Spector and asked her to do it.

Ronnie Spector, married to Phil Spector, was not liking it too much and was about to divorce him so phil BOUGHT her a pair of twin children. Very similar to the children that michael jackson bought.

I loved the Ronettes. Phil Spector was a scum human being, but a genius music producer with his wall of sound.

RIP Ronnie, I used to love to listen to your music. As to all the celebrities suddenly dying, old age is playing a big part I am sure. Plus the normal diseases that occur in this era of their lives as well. But yeah, I have had my suspicions about how many of them took the clot shot or booster in the month or so before they passed. Like Betty White and her stroke. Yes she was old, but she was as liberal as they come.

An inspiration to many, including Amy Winehouse, who copied & expanded her mountainous beehive almost as a tribute. Part of a generation that made chart-topping hits when they were still teens or as in Ronnie's case, barely out of their teens. Pioneers of Rock and Roll.

Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.) has added his name to the already-expansive list of Democrats who have announced that they will be retiring ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. Most of these retirements have thus far come from the House, where Republicans are expected to put on a real challenge to Democrats who are looking to keep their majority. In the Senate, where Democrats have a more favorable election map, there has only been one retirement, that of Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), president pro tempore of the Senate.

Construction costs began climbing when the pandemic arrived in early 2020. They’ve stayed high due to inflated material costs, supply-chain constraints and a worker shortage. That labor scarcity will get worse in the coming months

President Joe Biden was not making a 'human' comparison between opponents of his voter rights push with racists and segregationists in a speech this week, said the White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Friday. Rather he simply meant to compare the actions of those who opposed reform with the likes of George Wallace and other notorious figures. The clean-up came after critics accused Biden of divisive rhetoric, and the president has since seen his initiative collapse as two hold-out Democratic senators said they could not support his plan to change Senate rules in order to pass the legislation.
