Secret Service says pandemic fraud totals
nearly $100 billion

Original Article

The U.S. Secret Service said Tuesday that fraudulent coronavirus pandemic benefit claims are “nearing $100 billion,” and the agency named its first-ever national coordinator to oversee its investigations. It’s been nearly two years since the virus first slammed into the U.S., and Uncle Sam has spent trillions of dollars on relief, including assistance to businesses, bailout money for state and local governments, and new unemployment benefits.(Snip)At nearly $100 billion, the Secret Service’s estimates of total fraud are lower than others have suggested. The Washington Times last month reported that 40% of the more than $700 billion spent in the unemployment insurance benefit program may have been bogus

Comments:

Our government handed out vast amounts of our money to obvious fraudsters so they would appear to be doing something to help, and now they'll spend another fortune pretending that the bad actors, many of them located overseas, will return the money.

A hundred billion is a molehill compared to the $10 TRILLION handed out and around by Trump/Biden as "stimulus" and "paycheck protection" and whatever else. And, of course, that green fertilizer spread before January 20, 2021, has had no contributory qualities to our current, and apparently growing problem of inflation.

This was easily predictable, and even I could have put in measures, controls, preventative measures, early detection and quick analysis of problems as they come ... but then I sell fish behind a counter in a grocery store. These guys get paid the big bucks and sit in the palace of power to actually DO those things. Yet because they spent the great majority of their efforts accusing one another, investigating one another, lying, cheating and thieving along with creating much of the havoc within the hearts and streets of the people, they have long forgotten what their purpose is. Their actual JOBS are going undone. And we let them. We are powerless.

Minnesota has drafted in the National Guard to save the state's desperate nursing homes, crippled by staffing shortages and facing new pressures amid the rapid spread of the Omicron Covid variant. Some 400 troops without any prior nursing experience are going through rapid-fire training at community colleges before being sent to long-term care facilities. Hospitals swamped by soaring Covid infections are in desperate need of functioning nursing homes to send patients who require long-term care—but the pandemic has put such pressure on staff that many carers have decided to quit.(Snip)Among their duties, the troops have been collecting bedpans, clipping toenails and feeding residents.
