As storms start, US states struggle to
hire snowplow drivers

Helena, Mont.—More U.S. drivers could find themselves stuck on snowy highways or have their travel delayed this winter due to a shortage of snowplow drivers—a reality that could hit home Friday as winter storms start dumping snow from the Intermountain West to the Upper Great Lakes. States from Washington to Pennsylvania, including Montana and Wyoming in the Rocky Mountains, are having trouble finding enough people willing to take the comparatively low-paying jobs that require a Commercial Driver's License and often entail working at odd hours in dangerous conditions.(Snip)The labor shortage and lingering concerns about the pandemic have left employers scrambling to find enough school bus drivers

Comments:

American Pravda is paid to present shallow government propaganda as news, and we lap it up. Despite Global Warming we still need snowplows, and the day the Bidet junta seized power, labor and fuel shortages appeared out of nowhere, as did inflation.

Wade down to paragraph 8 and there's the root cause of the issue. An honest mistake; the editors meant to delete that part. FTA: "Along with the competitive market, LaBoe said Washington also lost 151 winter operations workers who did not want to comply with the state's COVID-19 vaccine mandate."

Despite mentioning how many drivers several states are short, the article fails to mention how many drivers represents "fully staffed" for those states. That number is necessary to understand the magnitude of the problem. For example, Washington state is short 150 drivers, but is that out of 300, 600, or 10,000? While I am sure that the number of drivers they need to be fully staffed is less than 10,000, being short 150 out of 10,000 is mildly inconvenient, while being short 150 out of 300 is a crisis.

We have been having this problem (not enough) CDL drivers in Colorado for awhile now. It isn't the pandemic that is causing the problem - it is pot. After "we" legalized marijuana a large number of potential CDL candidates couldn't pass the drug tests. So we are now stuck with a reduced pool of applicants - Genius.

They say these jobs don't pay well ( a dubious claim given overtime pay for such work), yet USA has endless amounts to spend on free cell phones and broadband for minorities, half a million apiece for illegal alien children, resettled terrorists from Afghanistan, free medical care and education for as many Mexicans and South Americans who care to samba across the border, green energy boondoggles, probably 90% more high-paid "federal employees" than we need, you name it. But sorry, we can't afford to hire people to keep the highways safe, so the taxpayers can simply gamble their lives commuting to work so they can pay their taxes.

This should be fun for those in DC, where (at least a few years ago) they had to borrow snow removal equipment from nearby municipalities as they didn’t usually get enough snow to justify having their own. Should be fun to see Zhou and Jillz tripping through snowbanks…and Fancy Nancy...

San Francisco—A recent video of an auto-burglary on a busy San Francisco street shows just how commonplace it is and how residents have become inured to the situation. Tourist hot spots are popular places for car burglars. A recent smash-and-grab on Grant Avenue near Jackson Street in Chinatown took place within feet of bystanders. A driver gets into his car across the street, as the thief peers into the victim’s car. Security video shows a pedestrian walking down the sidewalk and a woman trying to get inside a building, as the burglar looks around. The thief smashes the back window, steals two bags and then

Debra Furr-Holden, 47, the associate Dean of Public Health Integration at Michigan State University, said she attended the Milwaukee wedding on November 27 after she was assured nearly all 100 guests, many of whom were medical experts, were vaccinated. But the medical professional noted that as the celebration went on, many guests took their masks off and mingled, causing Furr-Holden and more than a dozen others to be infected

An evangelical Christian ministry is asking the Supreme Court to take up its four-year-old defamation lawsuit against the Southern Poverty Law Center, arguing that the “actual-malice” standard established in the court’s landmark New York Times v. At about 1:20 p.m., three men entered the store on Rockaway Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Two of the men displayed firearms and forced a 22-year-old man into the store’s basement while the third kept watch, officials said. President Biden has signed a series of executive orders to make the federal government carbon neutral. The Democrat president on Wednesday ordered federal agencies to purchase electric vehicles, harness wind, solar, and nuclear energy to power facilities, and to use sustainable building materials. The goal is for the federal government to stop adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere by 2050. In the next decade, Biden wants the government to cease purchasing electricity produced from sources that emit carbon dioxide. By 2035, the administration wants all new federal cars and truck purchases to be zero-emissions. Right now, only about 1.5% of the government fleet is electric vehicles.
