Hanukkah: When the Jews Chose Life

Tonight begins the eight days of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights that commemorates the purification of the Temple at Jerusalem after the expulsion of the Antiochus IV Epiphanes’ occupying army in 167 B.C.E. It was as much as a Jewish civil war as a war of liberation; large parts of the Jewish elite embraced Greek occupation and Greek culture. The Jewish Hellenizers still have their defenders, for example, New York Times columnist David Brooks, who a dozen years ago wrote: "At its best, Hellenistic culture emphasized the power of reason and the importance of individual conscience . . . . Hanukkah was a battle for the freedom to practice ones religion when "governments" decided that it would be better if everyone all did the same thing. They chose to maintain their religious identity and tradition. We all need to remember this because whatever our Faith, in this very secular society we lose our religious identity with each generation. As a Catholic my cherished traditions have been watered down and I see my children moving farther away, not by any major disagreements with the Faith, but their are so many other things do do. I wonder if Kamala and her husband (supposedly, at least he is Jewish) will "explain" Hanukkah again this year. "It's all about the light." Ben Shapiro's take on last the Harris message was priceless. He tore them apart. And then of course she has been celebrating Kwanza for "generation's" in her (Indian/ Jamaican) They all gather around the phony candle thing and "tell stories," the ones about the great African corn harvest of old times...wait you mean that the African's culturally appropriated corn which is not native to Africa??

I will never - - never ever - - read an article or listen to a person who uses the terms "BCE" or "CE." If you don't like using the Christian calendar - - and referring to the current era as "AD" - - that's fine. Use another numbering system - - any one that you like. But don't insult me by referring to 2021 as "2021 CE." This is 2021 AD - - and nothing else!

#’s2,3 & 5, have fun with it like I do…..I only use “BCE” & “CE!” “Why yes, I so love that they have acknowledged what we all know……’Before Christ Existed’ and ‘Christ Exists!’” And then thank them for honoring MY faith. And then I revel in their discomfort.

In San Francisco on Wednesday, a man named Ajmal Amani, screaming “Allahu akbar,” charged at police with a large kitchen knife and was shot multiple times with a handgun and beanbag projectiles. Amani had previously threatened to kill a man in his residential hotel with the same large knife and later died of his wounds. Amani was, according to the Associated Press, “a former Afghan interpreter for U.S. special forces who had been shot several times during more than five years of service and struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder.” That is a tragedy, but it’s also a warning: how many

Joe Biden has driven up energy prices by halting leases for drilling on federal lands, shutting down the critical Keystone XL pipeline, and demonizing Big Oil with investigations into skyrocketing energy prices, which are globally set. What he hasn't been doing is anything constructive to lower energy prices. He's thrown out shiny baubles such as the release of two days' oil reserves onto the global markets as his claimed 'tool' for driving down energy prices, hoping you don't notice his other acts. He's pathetically begged the Saudis and OPEC sheiks to raise production in lieu of the local pipelines and production he has shut down.

It’s a well-known fact that liberalism and comedy aren’t a good mix. Witness Hannah Gadsby. Or most of Saturday Night Live‘s recent output. Or any of the current crop of late-night show hosts. The same goes for the various departments of the Biden administration. Case in point: this doozy of a meme that the Department of Transportation recently tweeted. [Tweets] If you don’t get it, it’s okay. There’s nothing to get other than the leftist talking point. I’m not sure what we’re supposed to call the diametric opposite of comedy gold, but this is it. This meme is an affront to comedy. It’s neither cute nor funny, and it’s certainly not clever.

Climate change prophecy hangs its hat on computer climate models. The models have gigantic problems. According to Kevin Trenberth, once in charge of modeling at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, “[None of the] models correspond even remotely to the current observed climate [of the Earth].” The models can’t properly model the Earth’s climate, but we are supposed to believe that, if carbon dioxide has a certain effect on the imaginary Earths of the many models it will have the same effect on the real earth. The climate models are an exemplary representation of confirmation bias,

“There's Nothing More Frightening in America Today than an Angry White Man,” a CNN op-ed headline blared after the Rittenhouse verdict. And then Darrell Brooks, a black racist, career criminal, and convicted sex offender with two open felony cases, intentionally drove into the Waukesha Christmas Parade, leaving bloody children strewn like crumpled flowers. Baby strollers and battered wheelchairs lay on the street in the aftermath of this racist rampage, while the media tries to cover up his black racist agendas. If a white racist had slammed his car into a black parade, there would be little doubt and less question about his motives.

If you look around the headlines from the past week or so, you will see a startling similarity among them. Coming in from all over the world are mandates from one country’s government after another instituting medical apartheid over the COVID-9/11 jab. Where these restrictions are the most draconian are within the walls of the European Union, that region where The Davos Crowd’s influence is undoubtedly the strongest. Latvia will bar unjabbed legislators from voting. Slovenia made the jab mandatory to go to the gas station. Austria’s new Chancellor, who’s been on the job for around a month, is now fining and arresting the unjabbed for even leaving their homes.

In a critical assessment of the Rittenhouse trial, Conrad Black denies that the outcome of the case vindicated the American justice system (Snip) Black is mainly concerned here with the plea-bargaining system that state prosecutors use to condemn defendants even before a trial has taken place. But this is not the part of Black’s criticism that riveted my attention. The American justice system has become “evil” for a reason that Black only mentions in passing, namely the role of the media in inciting mob violence by racializing criminal cases. We saw this play out in the Rittenhouse case; we are now witnessing something similar taking place

The nationwide coronavirus death toll — which was at 396,442 when Biden first took office — is now at 775,397.

As we learn more about the senseless SUV attack on the crowd attending a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, some liberal media outlets are energetically attempting to spin away from the suspect Darrell Brooks and his left-wing politics on social media. Reprising the disastrous assumptions of Field Marshall Haig that the enemy could not sustain a war of attrition, General Westmoreland’s strategy in the Vietnam War put us on a path in which our primary goal quickly mutated into a desire to achieve the appearance of not losing while desperately looking for an exit. Trying to appear not to lose is now the sole basis for our COVID-19 policy. “Losing” does not mean the disease spreading until herd immunity reduces it to endemic status (which was always going to happen anyway). Losing would be a forced admission that the suppression strategies failed

As The Salvation Army launches its Red Kettle Campaign this holiday season, some of its long-time donors are withdrawing their support from the 156-year old charitable organization citing its newly embraced "woke" ideology as the reason. Of great concern to loyal supporters and faithful Salvationists is the initiative dubbed "Let's Talk About Racism." In a nutshell, its curriculum outlines the Christian church's alleged racial collusion and provides action steps to analyze and combat racism through an "anti-racist" lens while incorporating Critical Race Theory.(snip) why then should members of an organization built by the Christian faith to actually assist people of all races in need, be repentant of behavior
