The New York City Council will vote on December 9 on a law to allow green-card holders and residents with work permits to vote in municipal elections.
Around 808,000 New York City residents who have work permits or are lawful permanent residents would be eligible to vote under the legislation, which has the support of 34 of 51 council members, a veto-proof majority.
“It’s important for the Democratic Party to look at New York City and see that when voting rights are being attacked, we are expanding voter participation,” Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez, a sponsor of the bill and Democrat who represents the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, told the New York Times.

There will be a new mayor in NYC shortly. Will he go for this? His decision will speak volumes about NYC changing its culture.

They should ask the mayors of third world capital cities how they govern. Mostly by graft and corruption. Wait! NY pols already know how to do that. Never mind!

The incoming Democrat thinks it’s ok. Ok let’s dilute your vote and your supporters as in, oh, say 3/5 of a regular vote.

This is a test, since it was also something the democrats expanded the use of green cards and work permits in their BBB scheme.
They are hoping to do this everywhere, and will, unless Republicans include this in their 2022 election messaging.
I do wonder if they also will be on the hook for any/all fees and taxes that are passed and apply to property owners. That they would also include any/all apartments and rentals.
NYC has 8.8 million people and of that 808,000 have a green card or work permit?

All sorts of illegal aliens have “work permits” valid until they are actually removed from the USA. Many illegal aliens who unlawfully entered the USA recently with Biden’s blessings also have been granted “work permits” by the Biden crew.
Is the New York City government going to set up a new voter registry apart from the voter registry that is used for State and Federal elections? The answer to that is give up a break. If they do you will here the sounds of a discrimination lawsuit being commenced shortly. This is just another action that Democrat operatives and politicians are using to stack the voter numbers in their favor.

It's safe to say that New York has a death wish. Just one more reason to leave New York. Last one out

I used to think that the movie Escape From New York with Kurt Russell was a just a whimsical, albeit violent, fantasy. Imagine my shock at seeing it come true before our eyes.

They just took down the statue of Thomas Jefferson, next they will raid the National Archives and burn the Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution.

Wonder how many of these non-citizens have a poor opinion of Communism? Would be ironic if they voted all the hardcore lefties out of office. Seriously, how many of these people came from oppressive countries, were victimized by their former governments, and would rather never return if given a chance?
Of course, our government has been hard at work importing people that hate America, and would vote in Muslims, Communists, and Socialists.

Allowing non-citizens to vote in municipal elections goes way back in American history. Many cities had no voter qualifications except to be a male over 21 until the early 20th century. There were no green cards issued, no papers identifying immigrants except the ship manifest. You pass the eye test and you're in. Before Ellis Island all an immigrant had to do was get off the boat at Castle Garden. World War I ended all that.

Stupid is as stupid does...New York gets what it deserves...I'd love to go Up East and see the ocean, but there is NO way I'm even going to travel through that stinking state...I don't fly so I don't get felt up by the TSA agents, and if I'd drive I'd have to peel off all my gun stickers on the car...

Don't hold your breath, #1. Mexico City will be under water long before we get around to meaningful voting. Mexico City will be the continental version of Venus. ''Don't go there for vacation, the streets are flooded.'' (old joke from an old voter)

With all of Joey's secret flights, pretty soon NYC will only contain illegals. Actual citizens will flee so they won't have to pay welfare for all of them. Then crime will really be rampant.

#15, who cares what WAS done. This current situation is making America as pleasant and prosperous as Baltimore.
Which YOU can keep, Mr. “Conservative”, thank you very much.
