President Joe Biden promised the United Nations COPS26 Climate Summit on Monday he would remake the American economy, abandoning carbon based fossil fuels and focusing on renewable energy. The president spoke to the summit after struggling to stay awake for the opening remarks from world leaders about the importance of addressing the issue of global warming. Biden said he was planing “a marathon” for the United States economy that would “transform the largest economy in the world into a thriving, innovative, equitable, and just clean energy engine of net zero for a net-zero world.”

Republican Glenn Youngkin was declared the winner of the Virginia gubernatorial race by a number of outlets and election analysts on Tuesday night after a hard-fought campaign that he entered as a significant underdog.
Despite trailing former governor Terry McAulife by as much as six and a half points in the RealClearPolitics polling average as late as the last week of August, Youngkin ultimately triumphed thanks to a hyper-focus on local issues and a commitment to walking the line between Trump supporters in rural, southern Virginia and wealthier suburbanites who were alienated by the MAGA wing of the party.

With a 7-0 win against the Houston Astros, the Atlanta Braves took the World Series on Tuesday in a remarkable turnaround from a middling performance through midsummer to the championship in November.

Virginia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe said Tuesday night that he will not yet concede the election as major news outlets have called the election for Republican Glenn Youngkin.
Major news outlets have reported that political outsider Youngkin will defeat McAuliffe in the Virginia gubernatorial election, marking a drastic transformation for Republicans ahead of the pivotal 2022 midterm elections.
However, even though Youngkin is poised to win the election, McAuliffe said Virginia should count all of the votes before declaring a winner.
“So, we still got a lot of votes to count, we have about 18 percent of the vote out,” McAuliffe said.

McAuliffe and top backers, including President Biden, sought to make the vote about the Trump, who lost the state by 10 points last year. But the race was widely seen as a referendum on Biden’s performance.
