Nikki Haley, former Ambassador to the United Nations, is laying the heat on Democratic former governor of Virginia Terry McAuliffe in a new ad campaign. The new ad was put out by Haley’s advocacy group, Stand for America, and takes McAuliffe to task for his position opposing parental involvement in education, and particularly for his statement at the gubernatorial debate last month in which he said he does not “think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”This sentence struck a nerve, and is quoted in the ad, which is titled “You’re a Parent.” The ad focuses on the central role parents play in a child’s life,

Nikki, you made a huge error in dissing President Trump and that sealed your fate for so many of us. We are not cultists, but recognize someone who cannot be trusted. He gave you a plum job which you admittedly did very well, but you really blew it by biting the hand that put you in a prime position. We have been burned far too many times to trust the political class and when you showed your true colors, that raised a huge red flag. You made a very poor decision and people will just not give you a pass because you are saying good things now. We’ve been down that road and have gotten burned far too many times. Trust is earned and once lost is very difficult to regain.

Nikki had great potential. She really did a terrific job as our Ambassador to the UN and looked like a potential future President. But her abandonment of President Trump essentially makes her untrustworthy and pretty much marks her as yet another squishy RINO who wants to be liked more than she wants to be principled and respected. It's a fatal flaw that seems to afflict the vast majority of Republican politicians.

That's the problem with RINOs, every now and then they take a stand with the good guys, just enough to keep them from disappearing for good. Haley does a good tap dance. It's been a while since we have heard anything positive from Mitt or the other lukewarm aisle-crossers. The opportunity to jump on the Let's Go Brandon bandwagon is ripe now that Joe has achieved the low poll numbers that, in reality, he has held all along. Even the pollsters can't hide his incompetence any longer. McAuliffe is a hot target right now but bonus points go to those who take good shots at the Big Guy.

Here's a pull quote from a story in "The Hill" back in February when she opined about Trump: "We need to acknowledge he let us down," Haley, who served in her ambassador role under Trump, said. "He went down a path he shouldn't have, and we shouldn't have followed him, and we shouldn't have listened to him. And we can't let that ever happen again." O yeah? See ya!

By a narrow margin, the Democratic majority in the U.S. House of Representatives voted on complicated and controversial legislation. Inside-the-Beltway observers, always attuned to political technique, were duly impressed by the muscle used to get the bill through the House. In the words of Politico, “Despite the tough path to passage, the legislation is a significant win for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.” For his part, the new Democratic president—less than a year into office—was delighted. He said of the legislation, “It’s a bold and necessary step.”So, yes, Democrats were very happy when the American Clean Energy and Security Act passed the House on June 26, 2009.
