President Joe Biden presented a scaled down version of his 'Build Back Better' plans to Democratic lawmakers, which will ax his plans for tuition-free community college. The $2 trillion government-overhaul package instead focuses $500 billion to tackle climate change and money for middle-class priorities - child tax credits, paid family leave, health care and free pre-kindergarten.
But Biden's vision for free community college for all is falling by the wayside, with his flagship child tax credits scheme also likely to be severely-curtailed. 'There will be something for higher education, but it probably won't be the free

Stop with the axe and get a large chain saw. Cut it to $10 billion, then it will be OK.

Wrong story pops up...But, I'm kind of sorry to see this go. I was planning on enrolling in the community college just a few miles from my home. This way I could take classes and argue, I mean discuss with the teacher the lies he/she/it is brainwashing the other students with. If several million of us 'elders' were to do this one of two things would happen, we could counteract the hate they are filling the students brains with or the government would stop the free tuition. Right?

When everybody has a college degree, college degrees will mean nothing. They practically do, now.

Community College to catch them up on what they didn't learn in high school. If they want to go to college, pay for it themselves. As I was told by my parents, you are the one going and benefitting from college, mot me. You get to pay for it yourself. Those were very wise words as I paid much greater attention to my time in college since I paid for it.

I am old enough to remember when JC was free, except for books. Learning a craft, such as plumber, electrician, contractor, etc is much better than any college degree, IMHO.

Bernie and thousands of snowflakes will be outraged. They don't realize that the few who manage to graduate will be just as stupid with a degree as without. Somebody must have hired a math major to calculate the true cost of this ridiculous boondoggle.
But don't worry, kids, the money for Climate Change is still intact.

One of my lifetime points of pride is that I achieved the position of Manager of Information Technology for a worldwide medical equipment corporation without having a college degree, after being turned down for lower level positions elsewhere because of lack of aforementioned degree. The answer is self-study and hours of hard work.

Even were it passed, it would never apply to the Ivy League and $60,000 per year marxist training hives. But students would be welcomed to Dickensian, state-run commie-in-training hives. Please Sir! Can I have a syllabus?

A Pell grant plus supplemental state grant covers the full cost of Community College in most states.

Instead 2 bills totaling 5 trillion in spending, we will now have 10 bills. Anything so they don't have to use the word trillion. Biden has already stated he will continue pushing for the stuff that gets cut. How many Republicans will now cross the aisle to support this fraud? They always intended to support this nonsense. More proof that the Democrats are in charge and running the clown show. If the Democrats truly are in charge, perhaps that is the party we need to influence. The Democrat party is the Communist party now, and that needs to change. The main reason the Democrat party is like this is because its the home of Communists. It needs a bunch of non-Communists influencing it, and it might change.

No such thing as “free”, only moving who pays for it from the people who will benefit to people who already are paid for their own. A student paying the bill has skin in the game. Take that away and the graduation rates will fall.

"Free Community College" is nothing more than a sop to liberal professors and colleges. A way to keep they employed and well paid for little work.
Instead of being a preparation to go on to a four-year --- or even being enhanced high school with better learning --- the CC programs will simply devolve down into extended adolescence.
