Blue Origin boss Jeff Bezos welcomed home four new astronauts on Wednesday morning, with one earning the title of oldest person ever to go to space.William Shatner, 90, Chris Boshuizen, Glen de Vries and Audrey Powers stepped out of the iconic white capsule following their first mission to the final frontier, where they spent three minutes in zero-gravity. Shatner, who is now the oldest person to visit the space, was the second to step out of the craft and instantly wrapped his arms around Bezos in gratitude and excitement.'I'm so filled with emotion with what just happened,' Shatner said to Mr. Bezos on the ground, breaking into tears.

...would have been great if Spock and Bones could have gone along.

They came down in a capsule instead of being beamed down by Scotty? How lame is that?

Old sarcastic jaded thing that i am I think that is pretty cool on a lot of levels. Shatner lives in space in my head with that iconic theme song. And now he’s made it real .... without colliding with the myth.

This was discussed at work today and the majority were unmoved and complained about the amount of greenhouse gases spewed on a "rich man's joyride".... The propaganda has firmly taken root and soon we won't be boldly going anywhere.

Very happy that Mr. Shatner got this opportunity. I am as jaded as anyone, but this story actually makes me smile.

amazing how far the technology has come since the first manned flight. by a monkey. The booster rocket came back to earth and landed right side up. unbelievable. I was disappointed in shatners first remark. said that looking at the blue around earth and then seeing the blackness of space, made him wonder if death was like this. really How about seeing the wonder of God and creation.

Not any greater than Fonzie jumping the shark...really.
The public always falls for the "romance" of these things. Shatner flew on a freebie. It's a stunt, and he is "Captain Kirk". Glad he had fun on his 3 minute joy ride. I'm sure he'll wax rhapsodic and heroic yarns will be spun. Big deal.

But doing exactly what the monkey did in 1961. The only difference was the technology. Big yawn.

I've had more memorable 3 minute rides.

Bezos is a showman. His rockets are stunts. On the other hand, Musk sent paying customers into orbit... for days. It's the difference between a peddle car and a top fuel dragster.

Number 1 hit it...but I'm asking myself if Shatner funded it or was it a gift from Bezos???? And 3 minutes??? That isn't even long enough for a good sneeze....they should have taken him to the ISS...

To call these passengers, “astronauts,” is a bast***ization of the language, I think.

Hey, Roscoelewis,"...would have been great if Spock and Bones could have gone along." I believe they preceded Shat, without a capsule.

It's neat. But my .02 is that it doesn't count unless you orbit.
Up and down...eh.

Drink a tall ice cold Romulan Ale and invite an Orion slave girl to celebrate Kirk's trip into space. His cahonnes are huge. And unlike Dementia Joe, he didn't soil his depends.

How cool is that? I hope Bill Shatner enjoyed every second of his flight. For us who remember the Star Trek beginning, it took several years for that franchise to get its fame in pop culture.
