Texas mother interrupts school board meeting

Anal sex became the surprise agenda item at a school board meeting in Texas after a mother chastised educators for stocking a sexually explicit book in school libraries. Wednesday’s dreary Lake Travis Independent School District board meeting about its finances and coronavirus response took a shock turn when incensed local mother Kara Bell took to the lectern to read a racy extract from a book found on middle school shelves. Bell was aggrieved that a passage from the 2015 young adult novel “Out of Darkness” by Ashley Hope Pérez depicted “cornholing,” which she later found out was a euphemism for anal sex.(Snip)The mother’s microphone was switched off,

Comments:

How dare this mother object to the educational content provided in Marxist public schools. Sixty years ago they promised that they'd debase moral standards by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV, and by presenting homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as normal, natural, and healthy. And here we are; promises kept.

In this woke age, why would this be offensive to anyone? I mean if feelings are involved, it’s ok to do it, right? Also, am reminded of when our White House occupier gets off script. The Christian church had better sound the alarm. And caring parents had better get involved with their school boards.

Sadly, #4, so many so-called "Christian" churches today are too busy celebrating homosexuality, and even appointing ministers and bishops who live that lifestyle. So "cornholing" is something they do and love. They aren't about to condemn it, and think it's totally fine and dandy to tell teenagers to "experiment". Yes, there are Christian churches (most of the evangelical fundamentalist churches, and the Catholics) that still condemn that lifestyle. But too many of the wishy-washy other so-called Christian churches are too far gone under the influence of PC culture instead of the Bible!!!

More important than pulling the book off the library shelves would be to fire the librarians who are responsible.

#6 - librarian may not be to blame. When I opened a new Elementary School LIbrary, I ordered basically a "new library collection", where you put in criteria and the selling company comes up with a complete library for you. There's no way one person can individually pick and sort 50,000 titles on their own. Alas, even though I put very specific requirements about age appropriateness and approved by administration and a parent board, the book distributer included some sexually explicit books in my collection (which were promptly removed when it was discovered). But that was 12 years ago. Since then, my school district has ELIMINATED ALL LIBRARIANS. Purchasing is done by central bean counters. So, you can't fire the librarians ... the schools did that ages ago. When you no longer have a "gate-keeper", it's not surprising that inappropriate things get through the gate!

When my local (Protestant) church endorsed and encouraged tranny-hood, that finally snapped it for me. They had become something I no longer recognized as Christian. I joined the local Catholic church instead.

The students, so to speak, almost certainly find the subject of anal sex far more interesting than Spanish class and world history. How to transfer that enthusiasm to academics (have you heard the phrase "whizzing into the wind " ?) Would it be so hard to find morally and ethically qualified education-focused people to choose the literature hopefully available to them to use as learning aids or as extra-curricular reading/study (for credit) ? I pray it's not too late !!

I serve an Orthodox Church as a Priest. The Orthodox Church is seldom mentioned and has about 300,000,000 members. We have been around since BEFORE Rome. We have a membership list, and no one becomes a member who has not been involved in study, Baptism, Chrismation and more. If one says he was a member of (name) in (city), that former Priest is contacted for proof. We are here to encourage Holiness - not perverted sex.

I'm sure you are referring to the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of American) branch of the Lutheran Church, which just appointed a transsexual bishop. I am a life long member of conservative LCMS (Lutheran Church Missouri Synod), and I'm here to say Martin Luther would be appalled that the ultra-liberal ELCA continues to carry his name in their title!

Top Air Force officials sounded the alarm Monday that the U.S. is rapidly falling behind China in the race to dominate the 21st century, and they suggested that Congress‘ refusal to let go of aging weaponry and planes is a military luxury the country can no longer afford. Such dire warnings from Defense Department officials are common across Washington, with officials trying to justify ever-rising budget requests by laying out a world in which the U.S. slips behind its rivals militarily and needs more money to catch up. But Pentagon watchers say the debate has taken on new clarity and urgency with the chaotic but complete withdrawal of U.S. forces
