Sen. Joe Manchin, the independent-minded Democrat from Trump-loving West Virginia, continues to play the spoiler to liberals who want him acquiesce to changing the filibuster so Democrats can pass a bill federalizing elections.
Manchin on Sunday ruled out anew supporting a change to the filibuster to allow a vote on the elections legislation.
"I can't imagine a carve-out," he told CNN, adding that it was time to stop diminishing the parliamentary tactic that requires 60 votes to vote on passing most legislation.

He will cave again. Just give him few days.
He is a phony. A moderate democrat does not exist.

Perhaps Joe remembers that what goes around, comes around (think Harry Reid). Someday the Republicans will control Congress and the Dems will be screaming for the filibuster.

The D after the name makes it hard to trust him. Then again an R doesn't work much better.

Manchin was reelected to the senate by 49% of the vote in a three way race.
Trump carried West Virginia by 68% of the vote in both 2016 and 2020 with 100% of the counties being red both times.
That is math that even a democrat can understand.

If Manchin budges on the filibuster, Manchin would become irrelevant. Manchin is the swing vote. He is not going to budge, and let his power go. Let Schumer stamp his feet and choke, Manchin does not care about him. Manchin cares about himself.

Could it be the fact that Krysten Synema was going to say NO? Would have made Manchin look really bad if he went with the Dems and let the "girl" save the day! HE wants to be the Big Shot who is called by every TV Station for on air interviews Krysten would have been the Star everyone wanted to interview instead of him. Can't have that!!

ONE MORE TIME: When he becomes a Republican, then I MIGHT believe him. In his last election, Pres. Trump campaigned hard against him and I believe that did not help the chances of that happening. Like most poor, Southernish states, virtually all of the local public servants are Dems. As usual, like a good politician, he's waiting for them to sweeten the pot so he can bring home the bacon.

Don’t trust Joe. He is just waiting for another incentive that will surely come if he waits long enough. This is such a pathetic game he plays. Don’t look to any democrat to stand on principle. They all are open to whatever incentives the leadership wants to throw their way. There is no honor between thieves.

Based upon history Joe may be holding out for a higher payoff.

West Virginia, you need to elect a real conservative in the next election. Manchin is not our friend.

How about a firm, definitive “NO”, Joe? Why all the weasel wording? (Never mind, I know…we’re just quibbling about your price.)

At least the twisted sisters from Maine and Alaska played a convincing game most of the time. Manchin always follows the same script.

A slender reed that our country is hanging by. I hope that Sen. Manchin stands firm. Unfortunately, I don't trust him very much.

Joe will be my HERO if he does not vote for a carve out. Imagine the brutal scorn and immense pressure he's getting from the DC Democrats. He's praying that circumstances change whereby his vote is not determinative.

I don't trust this guy at all, but he seems to remember how Turtle used the carve-out for judges to seat 3 Supreme Court justices. It sounds like what he is actually for is restoring 60 for everything and getting rid of the Democrap carve outs.
