Kyrsten Sinema blocks Democrats' plan to
spend $3.5 trillion on infrastructure,
setting up major cuts

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona came out in opposition to the Democratic $3.5 trillion spending blueprint, virtually ensuring her party will be forced to make substantial cuts to get her onboard. In a statement to the Arizona Republic, the moderate Democrat said while she supported efforts to bolster the country's economic competitiveness in an infrastructure plan, she believed the bill was too large.

Comments:

This should send Chuckles into a full-blown hissy fit. Since Nanzi said yesterday that she won't call a vote on the 'bipartisan' bill until they get this one through, it might just kill the whole thing. Without Sinema, they can't even get to 50 with reconciliation.

I don't think so, #1. Sinema doesn't seem to play that game. She told them weeks ago she would not support 3.5T dollars, and she is sticking to it, just like the filibuster. Not sure what her motives are, but she has been a veritable PITA to the Senate Democraps so far.

I am well and truly amazed at this woman. She appeared and sounded like just another airhead lefty when she was running. Somehow, some way, she is actually smart and has a backbone on some issues. Just amazing. Bravo for Ms. Sinema. I don't really understand what makes her tick, but she is doing great good right now.

So, why is she not branded as "'Maverick' Senator Krysten Sinema" by the media? No such reverence when the shoe is on the other foot? And as for that "bipartisan" bill that the Republicans caved on, even though Fox News is claiming it's brick-and-mortar spending it's all about green-job special interests.

The Biden administration today declared the COVID-19 vaccines legal. It was only a few months ago that Kamala Harris said she would NEVER take the Trump endorsed vaccine. The Department of Justice concluded in an opinion that federal law doesn’t prohibit public agencies and private businesses from requiring COVID-19 vaccines under the Food and Drug Administration’s emergency use authorization. On July 26, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, California, and New York City said they would require some of their government workers to get the COVID-19 shot or be tested weekly. Veterans Affairs, with the move, became the first federal agency to mandate the vaccine.

Perhaps it’s because I grew up surrounded by extraordinarily tough people, but I found myself singularly unmoved by the spectacle in the House on Tuesday, which reminded me of a bad mash-up of Dr. Phil, Oprah, and BLM-produced soap opera, rather than a legitimate inquiry into an event that Democrats have seized upon to consolidate their power by destroying their opposition. As sobbing congressmen and Capitol Police officers took turns talking about their psychic injuries, I was alternately embarrassed for them if they were really that weak, and frightened of them if they were that sociopathic as a pathway to power.
