The Department of Defense inspector general is launching a review of the Pentagon's and White House's ability to keep the "nuclear football" secure during a crisis, following an incident on January 6 when rioters came within 100 feet of the backup "football."
The inspector general will evaluate the policies and procedures around the Presidential Emergency Satchel, also known as the "nuclear football," in the event that it is "lost, stolen, or compromised," according to an announcement from the DoD IG's office.
The "nuclear football" stays close to the president at all times. There is a backup "football" that stays close to the vice president in the event that the president is unable

What a bunch of fabricated melodrama. Austin and Milley should be more concerned about the mental midget decision makers rather than the football, which never leaves its custodian's possession.

Isn't the "nuclear football" with the President and his team. Were they not far away from the January 6 incident? Even if they did manage to get a hold of the case, they do not have or know the nuclear codes. Gen. Milley is sure good at keeping his name in the news to keep himself politically relevant. Is he doing this to make sure that he is not a part of Biden's purge of anyone remotely associated with the Trump administration? Milley is showing himself to be a political chameleon who will change his stripes to go along with whoever is in power. That is very dangerous; especially since he is in charge of the military.

Ohhhh puhleaaaassseeee. Spare us the drama. Everyone knows the "crisis, incident, insurrection" was totally manufactured and well planned in advance and set in motion to look like it was a bunch of rowdy violent out-of-control Trump-loving MAGA hat-wearing American flag waving patriots doing the evil deed. Save the drama for yo mama, ok.

Re #4, according to the article, it’s the one that is with the Vice President that was a concern on January 6.
Odd that we’re just hearing about it now...

Even if some BLM or Anti-fa-la-la-la stole it they couldn't figure the code(s) out to work it...you KNOW a Trump supporter wouldn't touch it....

So we nearly had "insurrectionists" with nukes ?????
I seem to remember our "president" saying we'd need them.

The first safety measure they should take is to confiscate it from the drooling demented fool in the White House. Unfortunately no one around him can be trusted either.

I DO believe they are reviewing procedures involving the nuclear football, but I DON'T believe it is because of Jan. 6th. I think it is because we have a basically brain-dead moron in charge and they want to insure that he cannot do any damage by accidentally pushing a wrong button when he means to summon his diaper changer, or order up some ice cream.

The Nuclear Football should not ne anywhere near the idiots that are responsible to use it.
Neither Biden or Matressback have the brains to be in charge of such a tool.
It's like putting a 3 year old in a room with a running table saw

These clowns leave the football in an unsecure site?
Why was security sooooo low on Jan 6? This makes the people responsible for security look criminally irresponsible.

Oh come on! Like the people who were let into the Capitol were after the nuclear football. The so called football wasn't anywhere near the Capitol. It's kept near the president at all times.

The only person you have to keep away from that "nuclear football" is that mental midget Joe Biden...

Wow, I think I'd be a lot more comfortable with one of the "insurrectionists" having the nuclear football than President * or VP Kameltoe.

What is more scary is wondering who is holding Biden's finger on the button (Milley?).
