Ahh. a holiday celebrated with annual block parties, black on black shootings, open season on Whitey and Asians, looting, and lots and lots of death. Wish I were being pessimistic, hyperbolic, or facecious, but these will be future headlines as sure as "It's Summer, It's Hot: GOBAL WARMING!".

This has been a state holiday in Texas since 1980. For the most part, most people totally ignored it. Blacks would have BBQ's and small parades in the black parts of towns. It was pretty uneventful. But the last couple of years, it has become a far too often case of riots and violence. Now the other 49 states will get to experience this "fun". On the positive side, I am shocked that they didn't take away Columbus Day from the federal calendar and replace it with this joke!!!

We should continue the tradition of getting rid of a holiday when a new one is introduced. Let's get rid of January 1, New Years Day. Nowhere on the Earth's orbit does it say "Start Here". Or Labor Day. I'm not a Communist or pregnant so why do I need Labor Day. Next expect Oprah's birthday to be a new holiday.

Absolutely nonsensical bull squeeze. This is just outright pandering to blacks, not a single one of which currently alive was ever a slave in the US. Illinois just signed the same crap today, though I would imagine the Federal holiday will now supersede that. Other than trying to keep blacks on the dole, there is zero reason for this. The black grievance industry is very profitable for some, though, and they have no intent on ever letting tensions cool.

Sold into slavery by fellow blacks, remained in slavery for some 250 years, then finally set free not by their own initiative, but as a byproduct of Lincoln's war to "save the union." That's some claim to fame.

Exactly #7. Its a PAID holiday for all the Congressmen and women plus a nice gift to all their many family members and friends who are all Federal employees too. The taxpayers who do not get the holiday off “paid” get to pay for it. The retired federal workers in my family said it first. It is not about remembering Jubeteenth.

I don't have a problem with this one. Ending slavery was a huge deal. Its the day that the US ended its original sin, and paid for with the blood of several hundred thousand men and one president. To this day, several thousand years later, Jews celebrate their deliverance from Egypt. Not one person alive today was around for that event. Flame away....

So the US taxpayer will now pay for over 2 weeks of 'holidays' along with regular vacation and sick leave for every last Federal employee. One wonders how much one day cost each taxpayer? So 2019 estimates there were 2.09 million federal employees. Lets say they work for the an average of $15/hr. So 8 hours would be $120 a day for 2.09 million which would be 250,680,000 a day we pay for their holiday. Now the vast majority of children don't pay taxes which was estimated at 73 million in 2019. So taxpayers would be ~ 257 million or roughly we get to pay a dollar each for one extra holiday for federal employees. Being a Federal employee isn't a bad gig if you can get it.

So federal employees, most of whom are 'working' from home, cough, cough, cough, will have another paid holiday where they sit home and do nothing. Residents in Chicongo are probably out scrounging up ammunition for the expected fireworks celebrations already. Since government doesn't work on Saturdays, will this mean the actual day of donuffin will be Fri. or Mon.?
