Joe Biden lied his head off about Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) when talking about why he hadn’t been able to pass his voting agenda bill. “I hear all the folks on TV saying: ‘Why doesn’t Biden get this done,'” Biden said. “Well, because Biden only has a majority of effectively four votes in the House, and a tie in Senate, with two members of the Senate who vote more with my Republican friends.” This isn’t even close to being true. The two senators actually have voted with him 100% of the time, as I previously reported. Add one more lie

LOS ANGELES — The Federal Bureau of Investigation Friday was investigating after a man reportedly attempted to break into the cockpit on a flight from Los Angeles International Airport.
According to authorities, Delta Flight 386 was on its way to Nashville. Video from the flight shows flight attendants and passengers wrestling with the man, tackling him and restraining him. Once the man was restrained and the flight crew was able to get the rest of the passengers seated, the pilots made an emergency landing in Albuquerque where the passenger was taken into custody. The FBI Albuquerque said in a tweet that there was no threat to the public.
After the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill, many corporations chose to make grand announcements that they would no longer send political contributions to any politician who supported the attempt to overturn the presidential election results. The woke virtue-signaling was strong. Financial organizations joined in. Some of them chose to limit contributions to politicians who didn’t support overturning the election results while others paused all political contributions. Some organizations are quietly starting up.

President Joe Biden may soon allow legal immigrants with green cards to secure American citizenship without undergoing a standard name check by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Center for Immigration Studies Director of Regulatory Affairs and Policy Robert Law writes that sources with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have indicated that the Biden administration is planning to drop the standard FBI name vetting process for legal immigrants applying to gain American citizenship.
Currently, all legal immigrants applying for American citizen must undergo the FBI name check process where a search is run against the FBI’s Universal Index
The Texas legislature has approved a bill that would ban the teaching of concepts associated with Critical Race Theory and “action civics.”
The bill has now been sent to Gov. Greg Abbott (R). In an interview with Yahoo News published Friday, Texas state Rep. Steve Toth (R), the primary author of House Bill 3979, said the bill is in keeping with the message of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“This bill is a direct reflection of the 1964 Civil Rights Act,” Toth said. “It echoes Dr. King’s wish that we should judge people on the content of their character, not their skin.”

SAN DIEGO — A federal judge on Friday struck down California's ban on assault weapons as unconstitutional but left plenty of time for the state to file an appeal. Judge Roger T. Benitez, who has favored pro-gun groups in past rulings, called the AR-15 rifle, used in many of the nation's deadliest mass shootings, "a perfect combination of a home defense weapon and homeland defense equipment."
"Yet, the State of California makes it a crime to have an AR15 type rifle," Benitez wrote. "Therefore, this Court declares the California statutes to be unconstitutional."
He praised the AR-15 as a rifle that should be formally protected by the law for its "militia readiness."
Microsoft Corp on Friday blamed "accidental human error" for its Bing search engine not showing image results for the query "tank man" in the United States and elsewhere after users raised concerns about possible censorship around the Tiananmen Square crackdown anniversary.
Users, including in the United Kingdom, Germany and Singapore, reported Friday that when they performed the search Bing returned the message, "There are no results for tank man."
David Greene, civil liberties director at the nonprofit Electronic Frontier Foundation, said that content moderation was impossible to do perfectly and "egregious mistakes are made all the time."

Richard Shelby is 87. James Inhofe is 86. Patrick Leahy is 81. Twenty-three senators are in their 70s. The average age of senators at the beginning of this year was 64.3 years.

WASHINGTON — Facebook announced Friday a two-year ban of former President Donald Trump from its platforms, including Instagram, until at least January 2023. Facebook’s vice president of global affairs, Nick Clegg, said that Trump’s actions on its social media networks “constituted a severe violation of our rules which merit the highest penalty available under the new enforcement protocols.”
The decision came after Facebook’s quasi-independent Oversight Board said last month that the social media giant was justified in removing Trump’s access from its platforms the day after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Facebook was then directed to review the suspension.
Seth Dillon, CEO of the wildly popular Babylon Bee satire site, announced on Twitter Thursday that the company’s lawyers have sent a letter to the New York Times accusing the paper of defamation and demanding the retraction of an article calling the Bee a “far-right misinformation site” that “sometimes trafficked in misinformation under the guise of satire.”
The New York Times article in question, published in March, describes how Facebook content moderators struggle to know how to handle satire. Mike Isaac, who penned the piece, apparently consulted his thesaurus and found some nifty pejoratives to describe the Bee.

The White House announced a compromise proposal by Biden on corporate taxes that will reveal whether or not the GOP wants a deal at all. The president proposed a 15 percent minimum corporate tax instead of jacking the rate up to 28 percent. He hasn’t given up the idea of raising the corporate rate higher, but for purposes of compromise, will accept the lower number.

But this does: a very long article in Vanity Fair by investigative reporter Katherine Eban, titled “The Lab-Leak Theory: Inside the Fight to Uncover COVID-19’s Origins.” This is how Eban promoted her article on Twitter: Eban’s findings are stunning. She documents what can only be called a conspiracy within the U.S. government to suppress information about the origins of the covid virus. I am still working my way through her article–it is very long–but she seems to have the goods.

Former SoCal Congresswoman Katie Hill has been dealt another blow in her lawsuit against her ex-husband and two media companies for publishing nude photos of her without her consent. On Wednesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yolanda Orozco ordered Hill to pay British tabloid the Daily Mail $103,625 in attorneys’ fees and $1,120 in costs, the Daily News reports.
This follows Orzoco’s April ruling to dismiss the Mail as a defendant in the case, in which Hill sued the paper along with ex-husband Kenny Heslep and conservative media outlet RedState, arguing that publishing the compromising photos—allegedly provided by Heslep—constituted “revenge porn,” which is illegal in 46 states.
