Former vice president Mike Pence said he would remain “proud” that he and members of Congress completed the certification of the Electoral College results, in remarks at the Reagan Library on Thursday evening.
In a wide-ranging speech, Pence urged Republicans to continue the policies of former president Donald Trump alongside more traditional conservative priorities. Pence said that “under President Trump’s leadership we were able to achieve things Republicans have been talking about since the days of Barry Goldwater.”
Pence praised Trump’s focus on border security, calling for the country to continue building a wall on the southern border, and said that the “Trump–Pence administration” was the first to see “Communist China

I beg to differ. The fact that it took this White House three months – – and a threatened visit by Donald Trump to the border — to make such an easy and obvious move is the joke. Sending Kamala Harris to a relatively quiet part of the border for this box-checking exercise might be the first smart thing Joe Biden and his team have done.
House Democrat Henry Cuellar isn’t having any of it, however: “I’m sure her planners told her that if you’re going to go down to the border, go to something that’s safer to go to, that is, politically safer,”

Coronavirus czar Nachman Ash announced Thursday that the indoor mask mandate, obligating people to cover their mouths and noses to prevent infections, will return early next week in an effort to stem the rise in COVID-19 cases.
In a briefing with journalists Thursday evening, Ash said the outbreak had spread to Kfar Saba, Ramla, Herzliya and other cities, as Health Ministry data showed 169 had been diagnosed Thursday by 6 p.m., the highest daily tally in months.
Ash recommended avoiding flights abroad, especially for people who have not been vaccinated.
“I call on the public to consider whether traveling abroad is essential. It is highly advisable to avoid non-essential travel abroad,”

Joe Biden has had a lot of confusion and weirdness over the past two days.
As we previously reported, Biden got confused and was slurring his words while giving his gun remarks yesterday. He also essentially threatened that Americans couldn’t challenge the government because the government had F-15s and nuclear weapons.
Earlier today, he got really weird, started leaning into the reporters and whispering at them too. But he wasn’t done yet.
Biden went over the slide when he was trying to encourage people to get vaccinated.
Biden was describing why he thought some African Americans were reluctant to get vaccinated because they were remembering when the “Tuskegee Airmen”

CBS Evening News did their due diligence as a Democratic Party press shop Thursday, as they quickly lauded President Biden for the work a bipartisan group of lawmakers did in putting together a massive infrastructure package. “The road to this deal has been bumpy,” as senior White House correspondent Ed O’Keefe put it. But he abdicated his duty to report on how Biden had opened up a sinkhole and swallowing that road with a push for “human infrastructure.”
“The road to this deal has been bumpy, but President Biden said the bipartisan plan unveiled today will create millions of new jobs and help rebuild broken relationships,” O’Keefe praised as he dove

A decade ago, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) under President Barack Obama targeted tea party organizations for extra scrutiny and even denial of tax-exempt status. Democrats and the IRS seem determined to be even more brazen under Joe Biden.
As PJ Media’s Mark Tapscott reported last week, the IRS denied a 501(c)(3) tax exemption to the Texas-based group Christians Engaged because its Bible-based Christian teachings “are typically affiliated with the [Republican] party and candidates.”
This denial is absurd on many levels. First Liberty Institute appealed the rejection, highlighting three key errors: there is no requirement that tax-exempt organizations be neutral on public policy issues

In testimony before the House Wednesday, Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was asked about the military’s new emphasis on politics and critical race theory.
Milley’s testimony is telling in many ways. He didn’t deny the military is pushing CRT and its ideas down the ranks. How could he, with so many whistleblowers calling his military out on it?
The nation’s top general leads in this segment by suggesting that he’s merely studying critical race theory and wokeness to understand them as a military leader should study ideas to understand their nature and whether they pose a threat or not. That would be fine, even commendable

It’s difficult to get played by a senile old man whose brain has the consistency of pudding, but somehow, Republicans managed that feat today. Failure theater is back, and it’s reaching new heights.
As RedState reported earlier, Biden announced an agreement on a bipartisan infrastructure deal, complete with a grinning Mitt Romney and Lisa Murkowski standing beside him. Following that dog and pony show, the president then proceeded to demonstrate the finer points of existing with cognitive decline. Regardless, according to the Republicans on the negotiating team, this was supposed to be a great victory and show of unity.
Of course, then reality smacked them in the face. Biden, within an hour

The Biden administration is planning to move interpreters and other Afghans who have worked for the U.S., along with their families, to a safe location amid growing fears of a Taliban takeover after the U.S. military withdrawal, a U.S. official and a senior U.S. administration official confirmed to ABC News Thursday.
The destination is not yet clear, nor is the scale of the project. But the plan is to move a group of these Afghans to a safe location as they wait for their U.S. visa applications to be processed, the officials said.

The U.S. National Institutes of Health deleted gene sequences taken from early COVID-19 carriers at the request of Chinese researchers, raising concerns about Beijing’s efforts to conceal information crucial to the virus origin investigation.
A Chinese scientist asked the NIH to eliminate the sequences after submitting them three months prior, the NIH told the Wall Street Journal.
“Submitting investigators hold the rights to their data and can request withdrawal of the data,” the NIH said in a statement.
According to the NIH statement, the researcher asked that the sequences be removed from the NIH database because they had been updated

It’s only Wednesday, but this is shaping up as the week when the Progressive agenda hit the wall. First, there is Eric Adams’s showing in the New York City mayor’s race. And as Scott noted earlier in the week, the University of Minnesota did a complete about-face on utilizing the Minneapolis police to keep the campus safe. Then there’s this in today’s Wall Street Journal:
Biden to Say Cities Can Use Covid-19 Aid to Hire More Police Officers
Mr. Biden will emphasize that state and local officials in areas experiencing surges in gun violence can use $350 billion in Covid-19 funding to hire more law-enforcement personnel,

We’ve reported repeatedly on the issues with Joe Biden’s confusion and incoherence based mainly on the videos we’ve seen and statements he’s made.
But beyond that, one would have to imagine there’s a lot going on that we’re not seeing because media isn’t hearing about it or isn’t reporting it. What must the folks behind the scenes, like the Democrats and Republicans who have to deal with Joe Biden, be seeing and saying about it?
The AP did pick up some comments from Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-NY) that show the stark reality that the lawmakers have to deal with when it comes to Joe Biden.
