Cemetery search resumes for
victims of Tulsa Race Massacre

TULSA, Okla. — The City of Tulsa resumed its search Wednesday of a cemetery for possible victims of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Crews worked to define the boundaries of a mass-grave feature that was discovered in October at the Oaklawn Cemetery. State archaeologist Kary Stackelbeck said crews were able to locate three of the four corners of the mass-grave feature, giving searchers an overall sense of its dimensions. She said searchers have also determined there are three additional burials in the area, bringing to 15 the number of coffins they’ve found at the site. The search began last year

Comments:

If there were hundreds of bodies in a mass grave they would have found them by now. 15 unmarked caskets would not be unusual in any cemetery. And there's no evidence those deceased had any connection to the 1921 deaths.

Liberals are desperate to inflate the number of black fatalities. Easier to just check on who has been voting than to dig up coffins.

What’s being left out of the article is that they are searching the “pauper” area of the cemetery. No money for headstones, probably buried as John or Jane Does. The gruesome stories being told are that black bodies were dumped in mass graves and covered over, no coffins.

All across America there are neglected black cemeteries. I offered to put flowers in one and was shut down. Won't even tell me where my friend is buried. Everything is race related and 60 years later it's still "You owe me"

Around here the Funeral people put a small tin sign up with the name of the deceased. They usually last about 2 years before they get knocked over by the mower or just disappear and that grave site only appears on the record of who was placed there. Sometimes these records are lost or inaccurate. There are many unknown gravesites in all cemeteries that have been around for a while.

Originally this was called the Tulsa race riot. Notice now that it has been named a massacre to inflame people. They seem to be having trouble finding enough burials to support the massacre meme. In 1921 Oklahoma was almost totally Democrat and called Little Dixie.

A Pakistani court has overturned the death sentence of a Christian couple in a blasphemy case, acquitting them for lack of evidence after they had spent seven years on death row. Vice President Kamala Harris had one job: Be the woman of color Joe Biden needed at his side to win the presidency. That job was completed in November, and now, it's clear that Harris doesn't know what to do with herself. A New York Times story on Thursday attempted to make something out of Biden's recent announcement that he was appointing Harris to lead his administration's efforts to dismantle all the ways that states organize their elections. (This is often referred to by Democrats and the media as “expanding voter rights.”) "Wow. Sounds like a serious undertaking," you might say.

Crews were at the intersection of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in south Minneapolis early Thursday working to reopen the intersection to allow traffic to move through the area once more. The intersection, informally known as George Floyd Square, has been the site of a memorial for Floyd since his death at that location more than a year ago. It had been closed to traffic since, and some city officials and community members pushed to reopen the streets due to concerns over access and public safety. KSTP's Ashley Zilka, who is at the scene, reported dozens of city crew members

In a wide-ranging interview, former President Barack Obama reflected on right-wing backlash to the election of the nation’s first Black president that saw the emergence of Donald Trump and acceleration of a “shift” in the Republican Party. “That’s been the history of America, right?” he told Ezra Klein in The New York Times. “There is abolition, and the Civil War, and then there’s backlash, and the rise of the KKK, and then Reconstruction ends, and Jim Crow arises, and then you have a civil rights movement, a modern civil rights movement, and desegregation,” he said. How old is too old to be a United States senator? Consider, for a moment, the octogenarians in office. Dianne Feinstein, the oldest sitting senator, turns 88 this month. She’s served since 1992. Charles Grassley, three months younger, celebrates his 88th birthday in September. He’s held the job for 40 years. Richard Shelby is 87. James Inhofe is 86. Pat Leahy is 81. The three men have served in the senate for a total of 106 years. And there are plenty more right behind them: Twenty-three members of the Senate are in their 70s; only one is under 40. According

KEOKUK, Iowa — Democrats lost last year's election for Iowa's 2nd Congressional District by the narrowest margin in a House race in almost 40 years. After the six-vote heartbreaker, some expected Democrat Rita Hart to immediately declare a rematch in the southeast district long held by her party. So far, no Democrat has stepped up to run. The hesitancy to jump into a district now as competitive as they come is one measure of Democrats' fatigue in a state viewed for decades as a true battleground. Even as the coronavirus pandemic gradually wanes and President Joe Biden's job approval remains strong

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced a new naming system for variants of Covid-19. From now on the WHO will use Greek letters to refer to variants first detected in countries like the UK, South Africa and India. The UK variant for instance is labelled as Alpha, the South African Beta, and the Indian as Delta. The WHO said this was to simplify discussions but also to help remove some stigma from the names. Earlier this month the Indian government criticised the naming of variant B.1.617.2 - first detected in the country last October - as the "Indian variant", though the

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) would likely be among the first to admit that he's not the most popular name in Republican circles these days, but that doesn't mean his successful bid for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012 can't serve as a template for future contenders. The Republican Party's 2024 picture is muddled. The consensus seems to be that until former President Donald Trump makes it clear whether he'll run, potential candidates will lay low. One way they can do that and still make some headway if they do ultimately enter the scrum is to get involved with 2022 House
