'Past the point of no return'?
Iowa Dems feel hopes fading

KEOKUK, Iowa — Democrats lost last year's election for Iowa's 2nd Congressional District by the narrowest margin in a House race in almost 40 years. After the six-vote heartbreaker, some expected Democrat Rita Hart to immediately declare a rematch in the southeast district long held by her party. So far, no Democrat has stepped up to run. The hesitancy to jump into a district now as competitive as they come is one measure of Democrats' fatigue in a state viewed for decades as a true battleground. Even as the coronavirus pandemic gradually wanes and President Joe Biden's job approval remains strong

Comments:

Dems show signs of panic. Districts that were close in 2020 continue trending to the right. Old Joe's 'strong approval rating' somehow offers no comfort.

So " Joe Biden's job approval remains strong"? Among the fake news employees of the AP newsroom perhaps--but not in any way attached to reality. But, this is a typical promotion of all things democrat by Yahoo "news".

The Iowa legislature had a fabulous year, passing election reform, banning critical race theory, passing a billion dollar tax cut, banning required mask wearing, requiring no license for gun ownership, passing constitutional amendment negating right to abortion, ending death taxes, encouraging charter schools, supporting police, protecting drivers caught in riots etc. No wonder Democrats cry themselves to sleep! Iowa is a fabulous place to work hard and raise a bunch of kids.

Joe is doing a good job by AOC standards but then she's just a bartender who managed to jump up way beyond her level of competence, just as Joe did. She and Joe make the Peter Principle look like the new democrat plan to make America a banana republic.

Rasmussen has Biden at 53 percent approval. Just checked. Is that strong? Maybe tepid. Essentially half the country is okay with him and half the country is not okay with him, give or take. The AP is just propaganda. If Biden were so great, why is there panic among Dems about the midterms? I am not buying what these shysters are selling.

Seems not long ago Republicans/conservatives were squealing in glee about the upcoming Presidential blow-out. In the bag. Joe Biden is a joke. Harris a hoe. No matter HOW the result occurred, look who lost that election. Get out to work for the candidate of your choice. Money is nice, but workers are better. And then don't abandon the winner of the primary if your choice doesn't advance.

Well #7 your comment is spot on. However it’s easier to complain about fraud, etc. than it is to actually get involved in supporting a candidate on a local and national level beyond just donating money. Simple fact...Trump lost. And the mantra that he controls the party is stupid. Voters like myself control the party and if decide someone besides Trump should be our candidate...so be it. The politicians that are so afraid of Trump need to grow a pair. You don’t like something he said or did...say so. He only has power if we allow him to have it as party members. A lot of people voted for him because they didn’t like what Biden was offering....not because they thought Trump was some savior who walked on water. He exposed how DC works and hats what people should remember. We need to replace many of the geriatrics in Congress, in both party’s, with younger people with fresher ideas and not the same old recycled ideas repacked as new.

This article is just an article trying to push the lie that Biden's approval rating is high, and make excuses for why no one likes the democrats. The author also hopes Biden's "economic polices" will help the democrats. What economic policies? Shoveling more money to the democrats to buy votes? I love it that they are scared.

In a wide-ranging interview, former President Barack Obama reflected on right-wing backlash to the election of the nation’s first Black president that saw the emergence of Donald Trump and acceleration of a “shift” in the Republican Party. “That’s been the history of America, right?” he told Ezra Klein in The New York Times. “There is abolition, and the Civil War, and then there’s backlash, and the rise of the KKK, and then Reconstruction ends, and Jim Crow arises, and then you have a civil rights movement, a modern civil rights movement, and desegregation,” he said. Mr Obama added: “What I

You could be forgiven for thinking this neighborhood is called Boystown. Up until a few days ago, the banners lining the main north-south artery, Halsted Street, still blared the catchy nickname of Chicago’s signature LGBTQ neighborhood. The rainbow-colored bike racks on the sidewalk say Boystown. Pausing in his work at a local doggy day care to answer a reporter’s questions, Carlos Negrete, 40, put his hand to his heart. How old is too old to be a United States senator? Consider, for a moment, the octogenarians in office. Dianne Feinstein, the oldest sitting senator, turns 88 this month. She’s served since 1992. Charles Grassley, three months younger, celebrates his 88th birthday in September. He’s held the job for 40 years. Richard Shelby is 87. James Inhofe is 86. Pat Leahy is 81. The three men have served in the senate for a total of 106 years. And there are plenty more right behind them: Twenty-three members of the Senate are in their 70s; only one is under 40. According

WHO renames Covid variants with Greek letters 15 replies

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced a new naming system for variants of Covid-19. From now on the WHO will use Greek letters to refer to variants first detected in countries like the UK, South Africa and India. The UK variant for instance is labelled as Alpha, the South African Beta, and the Indian as Delta. The WHO said this was to simplify discussions but also to help remove some stigma from the names. Earlier this month the Indian government criticised the naming of variant B.1.617.2 - first detected in the country last October - as the "Indian variant", though the

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) would likely be among the first to admit that he's not the most popular name in Republican circles these days, but that doesn't mean his successful bid for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012 can't serve as a template for future contenders. The Republican Party's 2024 picture is muddled. The consensus seems to be that until former President Donald Trump makes it clear whether he'll run, potential candidates will lay low. One way they can do that and still make some headway if they do ultimately enter the scrum is to get involved with 2022 House

For months now, my friends who are millennials have struggled to find single-family homes on the market in the suburbs, exurbs and even in rural areas — and when they do, they face daunting bidding wars. Millennials are leaving the city in droves as urban centers like New York and San Francisco see their populations decline. At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a housing shortage and skyrocketing prices, with “feeding frenzies” for houses, notably outside major urban centers. Millennials (age 25-40) are part of this dynamic, seeking to make their lives outside of cities and to
